I recently add two flash (.swf) file in to my web-site of selling ink for cartridges, But it seems they are not well embed in the posistion of the web-site front page.
I can't type into text fields in an online flash game. Videos play normally at sites like Youtube.I have uninstalled/reinstalled Flash to no avail.I have Vista Home and Firefox 3.6.13
I see that the background music in my Flash site is located in a symbol called muz When I click the properties of this symbol, the sound file's location is listed as.flashsoundmuz.wav I couldn't find that sound sub-folder in the flash folder nor could I find the file. I tried doing a search to look for the muz.wav file in my computer but it could not be found. Does anyone know how I can find and save this file?
I'm using the Flash CS4 IDE, and the first page of my site takes a lot longer to load than I want it to. So I wanted to go through the varied images / symbols / movie clips / sounds and so on to see where all the memory is being chewed up. When I go into my library, however, I can see the Name, LInkage, usecound and Type of my elements, but no mention of file size and I can't seem to find any right click menu that lets me add file size to the list of details being displayed. Is there a way to make it show file size? Or some workaround? And are there any best practices to reduce file size aside from using symbols for anything that's used more than once and reducing image and sound quality?
If I have a form with 12 text input fields on one page and on another for a different reason I have 4 text input fields how do I keep this information form the 4 from being passed to my php script?
A client of mine has had 2 sites (both Flash sites) attacked over the last 12 months, so he's been asking: should he go for a static HTML site or stick with a Flash site? Is there ways to make a Flash site more secure?
I'm trying to embed a swf file on a site. Here a link to the file on a page that works. Example Problem is, I need to place it on a different site (we have two servers) and it's not working once I link to the file on the other server. Below is the code. I've highlighted the part that I changed.
I have a site designed in dreamweaver. I inserted an swf file into the dreamweaver site to do the following :The swf allows people donate money through paypal and then return to the main site. I need a step somewhere so that I can disable buttons after the paypal process has occurred. Kglad has suggested that I direct to a new swf file when coming back from paypal. This makes sense, however, do I disable the donate button on the new swf file and if so, how will the actionscript recognise the button instances ?
I want to load some text data from a third party web site (I guess I need to use URLLoader) but everything I'm reading says the Flash player security will prevent this because it's coming from a different domain.isn't there any way around this? How else could a Flash RSS reader work - you can't possibly get all web site sources to include a cross-domain policy file. I would have to believe there must be some way to load text from an arbitrary URL.
I am an Actionscript newbie - is this is possible,
Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file. One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code
var myTextLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myTextLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); function onLoaded(e:Event):void {trace(e.target.data);} myTextLoader.load(new URLRequest("myText.txt"));
The contents of myText.txt are <a href=(not sure what to put here)> Product 1 </a> But all that does is put it in the text output section in flash. It does not show it in flash. I need help getting it to show up in a text box. That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
I have build a flash form that uses php to save variables to a web folder on my site in a text file. There is a .swf file with dynamic txt fields in the same folder it which pulls the data from the txt file. It doesnt seem to pull it as real time as I would like. sometime just once and not after that. When I update the form the text file saves to the web folder ok, but I have to refresh the link to pull the data in or empty browsing history etc.is there a way around anyone can think of so everytime I update the flash form the data come in straight away or after a few seconds.
I am brand new to flash and AS3, and everything else code related. I've built a simple file with text and audio. The audio is an external file, and it plays with a mouse click. Everything tests fine in flash. I also placed the file in Dreamweaver and previewed in a browser - that's working. But... I've now uploaded the file to a live site. The text shows up but it doesn't play.
I see references to this all over. but no specifics on how to write a text file from Flash CS5. I am collecting responses during a assessment lesson and I want to write the collected responses to a text file on a local and/or a server.
I use DW CS4. I've gone to the Library panel, as suggested (below) but cannot find the "a Text 1" text as suggested.

I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.
Basically I created a flash site and uploaded it onto the server provider the client chose using cute ftp. That's all fine but now they want to add a link enabling the viewer to download a PDF straight to their desktop. As I can't upload a PDF file to the Flash library, was wondering if anyone had any tips on creating this function?

I am having difficulties inserting a Map widget on my flash site. [URL] it needs to go on the left hand side were there is a "empty" space waiting for it! so i attached the map widget code just cuz... i am using flash cs4, as3 the code is a follows:
I don't know much about Flash so understanding how to implement a preloader for my entire site is just a bit beyond me. Basically, I just want a loading bar, "loading" text, and the percentage text (this should all be in AS3). I know that in Flash CS5, a preloader bar is included as one of the components. The only problem is that I don't know what to do with it (and it shows up as blue and white so not sure how to change the colour).
I bought a Flash Portfolio program from Flash Components and followed the tutorial for setup and when I click index.html within my flashport folder, from my local PC it works perfectly. Now when I upload it to my website and try and run [URL], or [URL] a small portion of it loads (just my name and a blank screen really) and stops. So it works when I run the it from my local machine, but doesn't work from my website. Can anyone provide and thoughts or comments?
First off, my main problem is that my company's website is loading slow and I'm not sure why. All of my images are small file sizes, but I do have 4 scenes that I'm using , maybe that causes slow loading?I've attached the website address below:I created my entire website out of flash Is this not the best way to create and publish a website?Should I use Flash in conjunction with another website building software to create and publish my full website? If I only use Flash can someone please point me in the direction of how to successfully build and publish a website through Flash that doesn't load slow, i.e. loading things dynamically? What I've been doing is publishing my site onto my computer and then uploading the .html and .swf files to Godaddy for publishing.
My flash site wont autostart when you enter the website, you have to manually right-clicky and press "Play" to start the site even tho it has been specified in the html file with the 'play', 'true', param. Here's some of the html file:
I'm making a flash portfolio site and learning as I go but have come across a bit of a road block.
I'm trying to allow people to click a button on my site and download my pdf resume. I've gotten it to open in a separate tab using "navigatetourl", but I'd like to also have a button which forces the download location prompt to appear.
Is there anyway I can run an install file from a flash site. I don't want it to be downloaded first. And if not how do I get the file to be downloaded. Something like the PC format Cd's have, where the programs install directly from the CD.
I am trying to put a facebook like button onto my flash site but it goes at the bottom. What other coding do I have to do. I would like to have it near the middle of the page.
windows 7 64 bit IE and mozilla firefox , both 32 bit Says I have flash player installed. I have the latest version. My windows is up to date, 64 bit 7. Plugin is enabled, works on adobe's site. Doesn't work anywhere else to my knowledge
Attached pics are what other people have looked at while trouble shooting, I have looked many places, and have not found the correct answer[URL]..
The folder is not there. I thought that would probably be the problem. Manual installer uninstalling and all kinds of installing have been tried.
