Uses Php To Save Variables To Web Folder On Site In Text File
Dec 2, 2009
I have build a flash form that uses php to save variables to a web folder on my site in a text file. There is a .swf file with dynamic txt fields in the same folder it which pulls the data from the txt file. It doesnt seem to pull it as real time as I would like. sometime just once and not after that.When I update the form the text file saves to the web folder ok, but I have to refresh the link to pull the data in or empty browsing history etc.is there a way around anyone can think of so everytime I update the flash form the data come in straight away or after a few seconds.

I got a request today conserning .txt files.What I want to accomplish is to grab information from a text file and save them in variables (or an array, depends).Whats the best way to do this, and whats the do's and don'ts?I'm planning to use the LoadVars class to pass the variables through and i've got a working test, but isn't there a more efficient way to do this?

I see that the background music in my Flash site is located in a symbol called muz When I click the properties of this symbol, the sound file's location is listed as.flashsoundmuz.wav I couldn't find that sound sub-folder in the flash folder nor could I find the file. I tried doing a search to look for the muz.wav file in my computer but it could not be found. Does anyone know how I can find and save this file?

I have an input textfield where the user can enter a long string of numbers, seperated by spaces. Example of this is "2 4 10 20". I made the textbox and made sure it only numbers and spaces can be entered. However, I am looking all over google for a way to split these numbers and save them in a different var when a space is encountered. I don't really know how to even start doing this.
saving in vars does not have to happen in runtime, but only when a button is pressed.
is there also a way to prevent the user from entering a space right after another space?

I am trying to create a county map of Illinois using x,y coordinates from a shp file. I have the x,y coordinates and the county names saved in a CSV file that I have no problem reading in via ActionScript 3 (and the map looks great), but in order to save time in my future application I would like to save each county shape as a permanent shape in my application and give them labels, i.e. Sprite1 (label='Champaign').
In case this is not possible I am trying an alternate solution: I create a new sprite (var spr:Sprite = new Sprite();) for each county, draw it using spr.graphics.drawPath, and give it a name (spr.name='Champaign') and then 'push' it to a vector of sprites (var xy_sprites:Vector. = new Vector.();). This would be great, but it doesn't work when I try to loop through each sprite in the vector and add an EventListener to that Sprite to pop up the name when you MouseOver any of the counties. Is the Sprite data type not the correct way to go about this or am a missing something about Sprites?
Some of my code to draw the shapes and save in a vector:
function drawXYMap(str:String):Vector.<Sprite> {
var arr:Array = str.split("
");
var xy_Sprites:Vector.<Sprite> = new Vector.<Sprite>();
[Code].....

I want to load some text data from a third party web site (I guess I need to use URLLoader) but everything I'm reading says the Flash player security will prevent this because it's coming from a different domain.isn't there any way around this? How else could a Flash RSS reader work - you can't possibly get all web site sources to include a cross-domain policy file. I would have to believe there must be some way to load text from an arbitrary URL.
I am an Actionscript newbie - is this is possible,

I have an as3 game that I am trying to debug. To do this, I allow the game to play itself repeatedly over-night (which generates information for around 500k games) and then I analyze the info in the morning. I would like to save the debug info to a text file instead of using trace statements. Currently, the game creates about ten strings per play which are printed to the screen. Is there an easy way to save these strings to a text file?
