Professional :: Test The Buttons To See If They Work On System (localhost) And Not On A Random Website
Apr 16, 2010
I have just created a flash navigation menu in which I imported to dreamweaver to link with the rest of my website. But if I want to test the buttons to see if they work on my system (localhost) and not on a random website, what url do I put? Or do I have to wait until I put my pages on the server and simply paste in the address?
My buttons only work when I click on them on the stage while having the "enable simple buttons" option on. They do not work if I try to "test movie," "test scene" and publish it to a SWF. Nothing responds whenever I am in these modes. I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Actionscript 2.0.
Playing with first Flash website (cs4, as2) Made a series of buttons that successfully open several "pages" (frames)Problem is these buttons toggle; that is they will open the right page, but when hit again will open another page.[code]
am i publishing the movie incorrectly? It works great when I preview the flash file (cntrl+enter), but after I publish it and insert it into the html (in dreamweaver), the file shows up and animates perfectly, but when clicked, no link... It doesn't do anything
When i test my movie the buttons work fine they get the URL that i want but then when i upload it to my page it does not get the URL. Am i uploading it wrong??? I Uploaded the SWF to the Server and posted it that way is there more involved or did i do something wrong in the actual movie. [URL]
I'm trying to debbug my code on Client side (Action Script 3) that works with Flash Media Server 4 on localhost. Everything seems fine up to that point.However, when I'm trying to test my player with other remote streaming servers, I notice bugs because of lower bandwith transmission between the server and the player.Is there a simple way to simulate lower bandwith with FMS4 on localhost (by config, application.xml, programmation...) ?

by config, application.xml, etc.? by programmation (main.asc) ? both ?
Now my website is up and running, (functionality wise, not so much with the content yet), but I've noticed a problem with the buttons.They work for me on my Mac in Safari and Chrome, but not in Firefox. On my PC the buttons work in Chrome but not IE. They work sometimes, on some computer/ browser combinations, and not on others. On my friends mac, they would not work in any browser, chrome included.(Even the same computer/browser combinations don't seem to have continuity).It's seemingly at random when they do or don't work.I went ahead and added html links to to the top of my page, so people could still get around without being able to use the buttons, but its really is a drag that i've worked on this so hard and yet they have less than a 50% working rate.I have tried using flash help, tried researching the topic in forums, debugging, etc, with no luck! I have no errors in my code.I have no idea what is causing their limited functionality. Here is my website URL so you can take a look at my site and my html for embedding the flash if you want: [code]my site has a preloader, so i don't think its an issue of the page being loaded fully. My links are absolute/concrete html links. They are not relative to any folder structure nor are they pointing to files on my hard drive. I almost feel like it's a security setting on some browsers not to let flash take them to external websites.Is there some way for flash to override browser security settings?I'm just using the wrong keywords?about the extra script on my buttons; I have them set up so that they load and unload a movie clip appropriate to each respective button inside of a frame on the stage, each time you mouse over and out of them.
When I go to test my movie in Flash Pro (control>test movie) nothing happens except a window thats just white.why this may be happening? I just battled some sot of memory problem which is mysteriously resolved ( i didn't do anything). Another funny thing being when flash pro is set to flash player 9 action script 2.0 all is fine...anything else it makes my whole project dissapear from the stage? Getting pretty sick of these funky things happening randomly.
I have been working on my final project for class all week. Suddenly tonight once I have finally worked through so many bugs in transfering things into the thing, I can't get the "Test Movie" option to work to view anything. I even tried to view just the scene. It keeps making these flashes and then basically stays where it's at
trying to build simple website interface with flash but wont work, not sure why
btn_info.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,func_in fo); function func_info(e:MouseEvent):void{ navigateToURL(new URLRequest("info.html"), "_self"); }
ive got other buttons with their own individual instance names and function names and such thought perhaps the buttons weren't working cause the objects don't exist, they're not loaded on the firstframe so the code is trying to reference something that but not sure how to get around this output window just says
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
problem with a website that when I see in local mode everything is ok but when upload it to the server something is wrong , if you go toin the Menus section if press the photo and then try to expand it, not expand properly, so you have to press again to view it correctly. I know that the problem is in the actionscript but I don know how to fix it
I have been building a website in dreamweaver, but have flash buttons which work fine. But the banner I have made in the page just has a white background. When I export it in flash it works, and when I preview in the dreamweaver browser it still works. I do not know what I have done wrong. Is the coding in the server wrong for the flash?
First off, I'm trying to fix something that I didn't build to begin with and the guy who's project it was assures me it was working fine when he left, although a version I haven't touched since he left seems to have the same issues. I'm also a bit new to programming in general so let me know if I've left out important information in my first post and I will try to add more info.
I have a flash application hosted on-line that acts as a client for a server application written in Delphi. Most of the communication is done using sockets, which work fine. Uploading data files and downloading results files is done using HTTP requests, which work fine as long as the user is making use of an instance of the server on another computer. However, if the user has the server application installed on their own computer and attempts to use it specifying localhost as the url, the socket communication still works, but the HTTP requests don't.
All the socket based communication works fine and, when it is not on the localhost, all the HTTP requests work fine as well, which is why this is so mystifying to me. I've tried changing the flash cross-domain policy file that the server dispatches to be completely permissive, all ports, all domains, all http-request-headers, and still no luck. The Flash app will sit waiting for localhost indefinitely most of the time until I close the server application, and then give this error message:
When I run the resultant flash file on my remote server, it works 100% and test.text gets populated to "successful". However, when I run it on localhost test.text is still blank. If I check my network monitor in Flex, the httpservice was successful, so crossdomain.xml seems to be set right ...what am I doing wrong? I've been spinning my wheels for some time w/out a clue.
My file reference function is not working when i upload my swf into my server. I tried in localhost it works. I tried publishing in HTML it works. I wonder what's wrong.Here is the screen shot of my code.The file reference is suppose to allow the user to save the "var ba" to their local hardisk.Edit : i found that my preloader is the main cause. Any code i should put in my preloader so the file reference will works?this is the preloader cod
Code: import flash.net.FileReference; var loader:Loader = new Loader();//declaring new loader variable
before somebody screaming RTFM, let me clarify. does system.totalMemory test the memory used in movie which invokes it, or used by all movies running on the browser/system?
I want to initiate garbage collaction for my app when it reaches a certain limit and i dont want the process to be initialized by the user watching funny cats youtube video.
I install the latest version of apache before the FMS4. After the installation completed, I copied webroot, applications and other files to the web sites home directory. I also updated the FMS.ini file in the config folder. Because I am not familiar with FMS, I don't know whether the change is correct or not.
I just acquired Flash, well CS4, I work with film and text and intend to develop a website to showcase my work, as they say. But I would like to make a stand-alone interactive piece that can be stored and created on a desktop then played, via external hard-drive or whatever (most likely a large piece of work, nore than a few gig) on someone else`s laptop; ie, not a website, just yet, but simply an interactive presentation that allows users to access film and text pieces from different menus; a media scrap-book if you like; a stand-alone box of ideas; there must be a way of doing this, rather than having everything in folders ready to show; does Flash have this capability? I know Director did.
I have a website.You can see that website both by typing in http:[url]....This website has a flash intro that at the very end enables the user to either choose to go to the html version of my site or the flash version, each option represented by a button.The strange thing is that if I'm on the http:[url]..... URL of my site, everything works ok there. However, if I'm on the version with the "www" added into the URL, those buttons don't work. You still get the little "finger" indicator, but when you press, nothing happens.
i'm just learning Flash at a local college and my instruction is not being very helpful, so i'm hoping someone can help me. I need to insert a "start" button that will start the movie. I have the button on a layer called "startButton". I inserted another layer and called it "stopMovie" - this is where I add a keyframe on the 1st from and the last frame and then add a actionscript to stopmovie on both frames.
The problem I'm having is when I select the 1st frame of the layer where the button is localed, I go to the actionscript window/global fuction/timeline and then I want to select "play" but the system has it grayed out so I can't select it. My only option is "goto". But that doesn't work. All I want the funtion to do is start playing when I click on the start button.
I am new to Flash CS4 so I may be doing something stupid. I created my assests on Photoshop CS4 and imported them into flash as flash layers. I followed a training video by Paul Trani about creating a first website. I have several pages in my site, home, about, contact, photos etc. I created navigation buttons for the homepage and they work great. However on my other pages I created different buttons as they are in a different place and have some additional buttons that the homepage does not have (except the contact page has common buttons to the homepage). I put the homepage and second page (contact) actions on frame 1. I then created a new keyframe at frame 20 where the rest of the pages uses common buttons. I then changed the language in the action script so as not to conflict with the frame 1 action script. I had trouble making the second group of buttons work so I created a new actions layer (actions2) and they work, except.
Well my homepage buttons work, all of them. I can even go to my contact page (which share the same buttons with the homepage) and then go back to the home page. I can also go from the homepage to the other pages and those buttons work... UNTIL I go back to the home page or to the contacts page (the pages that share buttons) then those buttons NO LONGER WORK??? It seems like once I committ myself to one group of pages (I consider myself having two groups of pages based on the sharing of buttons by each group) it disables the other group.
I'm trying to create a portfolio site and I'm running into some problems. I've built my main site on the timeline and all my buttons work fine the AS is very simple: function goForward(event:MouseEvent):void { if(currentFrame == totalFrames) { gotoAndStop(1); } else { nextFrame(); }} next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, goForward);
But when I make Movie clips of a scenes with buttons in them (children?) to try and simplify the site, AS doesn't seem to recognize the instance name for the button in the Movie Clip. I get an error message: 1120: Access of undefined property next_btn.
I've put an invisible button over the mc and given it the next_btn instance name and it works although I would like to fix the buttons in the MC properly. Is it better to condense a site into movie clips and single frames or should I just have a long linear timeline that spans many frames?
I have set up my buttons so that are each a movieclip with 'over' and 'out' states/frame labels. They exist on the main timeline. The actionscript controlling them is situated in a frame on the main timeline and the frame holding that actionscript is on the same point within the main timeline where the buttons are introduced. I am using actionscript 3.
The buttons have been set up so that they navigate to another frame on the same main timeline and on that frame is a movie. The movie dimensions are smaller than the main stage so the buttons are still accessible when each movie is played. The problem is my buttons are only working once - by that I mean they go to the correct place when clicked the first time, but when they are clicked again they navigate elsewhere. Here's the code I used for the buttons...
The buttons in the flash movie also link to movie frames in the flash and external html pages. Once movie plays and stops, all links work fine, the links to the anchors and the links to the other html pages, however when I try and link back to the flash movie from an external html page, to specific frames in the flash movie, the html link will link back to flash movie frame fine, however once your back in the flash movie, none of the buttons in the movie work anymore.I have embedded the flash movie in an HTML and published it with anchors,"home, about, events etc.used this code for several buttons in the flash linking to frame anchors in the movie:
/////////////////////////// home_btn.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, handler); function handler (event:MouseEvent):void
I am using Flash CS5. In flash the program has a set of buttons already in a folder within the program so you can use them for your website and projects. For those that know the buttons most of them have a text that says "enter". What I have done is dragged the button to my stage and double clicked on it so I can edit it. From there I change the text from enter to something else like say "home". My problem is that when I click duplicate or make a copy of that button and go to change the text it changes the text for my first button too.
So I have my first button that says "home". My second one is going to say "pictures" but when I change the text of my second button to pictures it automatically changes the text of my first button from home to pictures. It seems that the only way I can get my buttons to work is if each button has the same exact text and if I change the text to one button it changes the text to all my buttons and makes it all the same text. How can I fix this so each button has a different text? I have a layer on my main timeline that is called buttons and all my buttons are on there. I am using these buttons for my flash website project but instead of creating them myself I used the ones flash had because I found them a bit more stylish for my taste.
i have realy pain start with af3 when i was fine with as2.one of my probleme is i load a login.swf from localhost .
Probleme1. i test on my pc "wamp" then i test on a remote server let call it "Lamp". my code in main swf (As3.swf) look a something like this.
var chemin = new URLRequest( "http://localhost/As3_login.swf" ) ;cadre.load ( chemin );cadre.x = 40;cadre.y = 100;addChild(cadre);
what happen is in localhost test everithing does the job but when i upload on my distant server "Lamp" as3.swf and As3_login.swf,the main swf (As3.swf) don't load the As3_login .swf that is on my distant server "Lamp" .in fact it try load the swf that is on my local "wamp" server (my own hard disk).so if i close my "wamp" what happen is As3.swf from "Lamp" load then it can't load As3_login.swf.seem totaly ilogique to me since when localhost isn't local?
Probleme 2. the code above addChild(cadre) add the As3_login.swf from here all is finel) .now the probleme is i have a button cancel on the As3_login.swf and i want this button remove what we loaded previously(itself then).i tryed a lot of thing like.how to remove a loaded child from the child itself???
I'm new and am having a bit of trouble loading one swf into another for a preloader and main program. If u open up flashSite.fla or the swf, everything works, but when I load it into a mc container of preloaderMomSite, the animated buttons no longer work. If someone could take a look, I would love to find out what I'm doing wrong. All files are located on in the same directory.
