ActionScript 3.0 :: Website Buttons Unresponsive (seemingly At Random)

Now my website is up and running, (functionality wise, not so much with the content yet), but I've noticed a problem with the buttons.They work for me on my Mac in Safari and Chrome, but not in Firefox. On my PC the buttons work in Chrome but not IE. They work sometimes, on some computer/ browser combinations, and not on others. On my friends mac, they would not work in any browser, chrome included.(Even the same computer/browser combinations don't seem to have continuity).It's seemingly at random when they do or don't work.I went ahead and added html links to to the top of my page, so people could still get around without being able to use the buttons, but its really is a drag that i've worked on this so hard and yet they have less than a 50% working rate.I have tried using flash help, tried researching the topic in forums, debugging, etc, with no luck! I have no errors in my code.I have no idea what is causing their limited functionality. My links are absolute/concrete html links. They are not relative to any folder structure nor are they pointing to files on my hard drive. I almost feel like it's a security setting on some browsers not to let flash take them to external websites.Is there some way for flash to override browser security settings?I'm just using the wrong keywords?about the extra script on my buttons; I have them set up so that they load and unload a movie clip appropriate to each respective button inside of a frame on the stage, each time you mouse over and out of them.

I have just created a flash navigation menu in which I imported to dreamweaver to link with the rest of my website. But if I want to test the buttons to see if they work on my system (localhost) and not on a random website, what url do I put? Or do I have to wait until I put my pages on the server and simply paste in the address?

Offline (on my drive) it works, but online (on my website) it loads the entire flv before displaying anything (..I get the animated barber shop sign scrub bar thing).Is there any additional coding or setup I need to do for it to allow me to play it even while it is downloading, as it's supposed to? I just spent a week trying to get my Quicktime .mov's to Fast Start, and it just isn't happening, despite everything I try.I had it work ONCE now using QT Pro, but now they aren't working again.
I gave up on QT, and am trying the FLV route using the FLV Player component... which looked promising, but is now giving me the same issue.Clip thumbnails (embedded movies) on my HTML page that don't download until you click play... and when you click play, it starts playing as soon as it has a good enough head start in the load.I've tried Fast Start QT's....as well as external FLVs loaded via a swf with a FLV Player component inside..

My movie is basically complete and consists of simple movie clips as buttons, these listen out for specific states and when these conditions are met a function is run which generally either plays a movie clip or runs a prevFrame loop.For some reason, although the mouse over and out conditions are working correctly the mouse down condition causes the variable to flip through 3 states which causes the panel im trying to show to basically run through 5 frames and then reverse for a single frame.I'm literally banging my head on my desk for a solution and my manager is starting to look at me a bit funny. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Heres me code

I'm an intern for a small college and have been given the task of designing the athletic departments intro page. Nine different sports teams need to be represented (football, volleyball, cross country, etc.). I have all the visual elements in place but I need action script to work for bringing up a randomly selected picture from a pool of pictures for each sport. In other words, after the slide show cycles through each of nine sports, how can I make it so a different picture is displayed the next time through (for each sport). Or if the page is refreshed, a different image is displayed. My boss is not familiar with flash and needs a folder that she can put images in for each sport after I am finished with my internship.

I have a custom app for a one-to-one chat (chatroulette style) and it seems that I cannot get more then 730 users although at that time I'm using 25% cpu 22% ram and about 120mbits (1 gbps available). Clean 4.5 install with no custom adjustments. My developers say that, according to the logs, I've a problem on a protocol level. I have no idea of what's happening (fmscore is active - no crashes), maybe is this the limit for a 1 gbps line? I'm using Windows 2008 R2 Web Edition, I've red somewhere that this particular version of Windows "may" have connection limits, maybe is this the reason?

I'm loading an image into a thumbnail button in flash from an XML file.
The button will scale up when it is mouse-over'd (is this a word?)
Here is the loading of the image into the movieclip

Without the image loaded in it works fine. But with the image loaded in, the image is on top of the button so the scale event triggers the Loader object to scale ( instead of the button it is parented to). Is there a way to make the Loader object or the moveiclip it's parented to (imageHolder) unresponsive to a mouse over so only the thumbnail will scale (and its children as a result of course).
Here is the parenting if you need help visualizing it:

I have a variety of FLV files I wish to playback randomly within my Flash web site, so every time the page loads it could load any of the 6 files for example. I have created a MC for them to playback within, how can i use action script to select one of the files located in a folder at root and play it? I'm trying to load random images every time the website is refreshed. I currently have some actionscript that makes my random image appear but it appears at the top left of the screen. and the movie continues to load the very first image in the layer. So I have 2 images loading and the random image is off center.
Here is the actionscirpt:

The foreground portrait is random and fades in but is in the wrong spot. All of my random images are centered in the layer. And the image in the background loads since it is the first image in the layer. but it shouldn't.

I just made a little site with CS3 where songs are supposed to stream and well the music player takes forever to load. Each song is supposed to be dynamically called by the actionscript but it looks like each song is being downloaded all at once when the page opens.

I have designed an AIR application that displays a list with all txt files located in C: directory. I have used following code:

I am doing a simple Flash button that controls the playing of a moving clip.I want the movie to go to frame one and play when I mouse over the button and I want it to go to frame 12 and play when I mouse out. I have stop(); at frames 1, 12 and 25 to prevent looping.The mouse_over part works fine, but the mouse_out part is unresponsive.Here is my actionscript:

I have a parent swf called Main.swf that loads a child Registration.swf via a regular loader class then adds it to the stage. This child has a webcam function that captures an image but before that happens it prompts the user for permission to allow the webcam to be turned on. The problem I'm having is that in my IDE the prompt works like a charm and continues through to capturing image data. When I plop the files on a live server it fails. A friend recommended that it's most likely an issue with how I'm requesting permission from the child, so instead I'm calling an event to the parent telling IT to prompt and still no luck. Having the same issues. Note: The parent .swf was published as Player 9 and the child is in Player 10. I had to do it this way because each package has dependencies that require it.

I have a simple website that I am making in Flash. It is four pages and the backgrounds are in one long horizontal sequence.So each page is 1000px wide, so the entire photoshop file which I imported into Flash is 4000px wide.
I made buttons so that when the user clicks, Flash moves to that area of the long photoshop file.I did this using frame labels.
Here is the problem. Right now the pages are jumping one to the other and I want them to move fluidly like a motion tween (which I have set up, but does not seem to be working). The reason I made one long file was because I wanted to be able to do this.[code]...

I got a Website.as file that loads 4 library's movie clip's on the stage in certain positions.. Clip_A Clip_B Clip_C Clip_D
Clip_A loads on the top left side , Clip_B on top right , Clip_C in Middle and Clip_D low right position.
What i need to do and understand is how can i tell that class to find a button inside Clip_B and play a certain frame in Clip_C?

I just started using Adobe Flash CS4. I am a newbie and do not have flash experience other than teaching myself how to do it. Problem. I have a website template that allows full customization and has 4 flashing text buttons on the header. Everything has been working flawlessly until this....When I go to change the text for any one of the text buttons it changes the text in all of the other text buttons regardless of what I do.

I designed a flash banner with buttons. I am trying to get those buttons linked to other pages in my website. I have tried several methods but none appear to work. The first thing I tried to was to assign the buttons to my other webpages through using the behaviours under the windows tab in Flash CS4. It worked when using the publish preview option (preview in flash) and choosing Flash, but when I went to add the banner to my webpage through Dreamweaver, the buttons would not work. I tried another method and used actionscript 3.0. I kept getting errors.

I am have about 80% of a my website built and buttons all mapping where they should go, along with a number of XML driven BANNER ROTATORS/ACCORDIAN MENUS...ect
This site requires users to be signed in, which is done through a site previous to mine. Once they log in, they can click a button which then allows them access to my site.
My site has three "user levels" or "autentication levels" as we have "Managers", "Supervisors" and "Staff" levels.
For testing purposes, we have placed the below actionscript in the first frame of my project. The purpose of this actionscipt is to reference the "authentication level" that the user is using (as they will have already signed in so we are simply looking to obtain their "auth level").

I have a few questions on creating some animated buttons for a nav. There are 2 actions I want to trigger on moue over. If I want to use a static (PNG) image that I created in Photoshop for the actual button, can I use that? I want to smoothly slide button down on mouse-over and slide back up on mouse off. If I push part of the button off the "canvas" (sorry, this is coming from a Photoshop guy) will it disappear in the final animation? Another way to put that is, if I put an animated element off the white area, will it no longer show up in the movie (.swf) when it's published?
For the second part; you can see a bit of what I want to do if you look at this website's top Nav: [URL] I need the "light" above the button and it's going to be on another colored <div> so I can't set one solid BG color for my flash document. But I want to achieve the effect of the "bar" lighting up above the button and the actual button sliding down upon moue over.

My three navigation buttons on my website ('but1', 'but2', 'but3') are programmed to go to each section on my timeline: 'home', 'pics' and 'contact'. I'm having an issue with my website design and as I'm relatively new to flash I can't seem to fix it on my own. I know what I'm supposed to do, technically, but not sure how to actually implement it. Below is a picture of my timeline: What my problem is that the buttons for navigating my pages (bio, news, projects, links, etc.) are nested inside of my Navigation MC (on the Navigation layer) and so they appear in the timeline (at frame 20) before my content does (frame 70). Because of this, the buttons can't be aimed at the content because their code is run before the content even exists.
I'm guessing that what I need to do is to instantiate my content at a point in the timeline before the navigation/buttons occur... but as the content is the last part of my loading animation, I'm not sure how to do that. I read something about adding the MC's but keeping them invisible, then making them visible again at teh appropriate time, but I don't know how to do that or if it would somehow mess with my animation (everything fades in one item after the other, with the content being the last part).

i need to disable all buttons on my website (flash) at a certain time. At the moment i no that
button.enabled = false
will disable the button...I need to do this with about 10 buttons. Is there a way to disable ALL buttons in a more convenient way?I thought of looping i, button1, button2, button3..But my buttons are not named like this, and would not be suitable to do so!
