View 5 RepliesI have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

My idea is to have a boat sitting on a pond fishing lines in the water, when a fish jumps out of the water, the water ripples, the next time you see the fish it's got a hook in it mouth and jumping out of the water.how do I go about it? How to I create the water rippling? I think with the fish I can do easily enough with it jumping on and off stage. Would I do the water with shape tweens?
View 1 RepliesI have a desktop AIR app that sends vars to a php page, which then rewrites a new css style file. After the vars are uploaded, I set off a refresh function in AIR that refreshes an html display pane, so you can see the css style changes on the html page.I was working great, but since I have changed hosts, I find I have to send the vars twice to see changes.
I thought maybe the problem was that AIR was displaying the new page before php had a chance to write the new css file, but even after putting a 2 second delay timer on the refresh, the problem still exists.I have also made the refresh function URL request append date and time as in:

I'm constructing a website in flash, and on each page of the website I have a dymanic text field pulling data from a .txt file for that page, (the news page has a dymanic text field called "newsText" which pulls data from "news.txt" for example) The website im working on is here: [URL] If you have a slower internet connection, whenever you click on the link to a new page, a small white square will appear in the corner before the content has fully loaded, this white square is a result of the scrollbar being disabled due to the content not being loaded yet (and thus having nothing to define wether or not it should need to scroll)
as the website grows in content this will become more and more of a problem. My actionscript ability is really limited. So whats the simplest way I can add a preloader to the page to load the content of the .txt file before displaying it?
So i've created an interface for a lobby display. It's running on a 52" LCD (1280x768). I have the computer hard wired to the display (HP Laptop with standalone flash player) and have the same resolution settings set on it. Now, I built the interface on my Mac desktop and have the stage set to 1280x768.
The kicker: When i run it on the display, there's a lot of extra vertical space at the bottom. When i change the resolution to 1280x1024, it fills the screen vertically properly, but then shortens it horizontally.
I am trying to create a flash headline gallery animation for a web site and I am having a bit of trouble. I am trying to get something similar to what you see on many websites today. Example 49er website ( [URL].. Typically the animation starts with one headline for a story "Click here to learn more" . After 7 seconds or so it goes to the next.I want mine to utilize the horizontal sliding effect between stories. underneath the stories are several buttons for navigating to a specific headline.
Many example sites i've seen use javascript or something else, but i was attempting to use Flash. I borrowed some code from a tutorial and I have some of it done. I have the button nav working, and the headlines slide horizontally when clicked. What i can't seem to add to this is the auto-play, wait 7 seconds then go to the next.
There is always really cool special fx on the kirupa home page banner. But I can never find out where I can find FLA's with them. Can someone give me a link to where I might be able to find them...If not. This would be a perfect place to put banner ef ex. So post them if you have them!

View 2 RepliesI have a PC fiash file with static body text that is New Gothic font. The published swf looks great on the PC, though when testing on Mac, none of the text appears. I thought that with static text fields, the font is automatically embedded?
how I can get the font to display properly on a Mac?
I recently started using FF_Hero on a project but I noticed that the bottom 3 pixels are not displaying effecting g,y,q. It has nothing to do with the text box size. Non pixel fonts work fine...is there a work around?

i am using the code:

If i don't use any HTML tags, it displays fine. But if I add tags, such as <a> or <b>, etc... the text within the tags does not display. For example, if in the XML text i have:
<node>For more information, <a href='http://www.link.com'>Click Here</a> to see the information. When I run the flash move, it displays: For more informationto see the information.
If i remove the <a> tags, it displays fine.

View 1 RepliesI have 10 buttons for various pages on a website I am building. I am only dealing with the first 2 buttons so far: home and about (laborLaw). On my about page, I wanted to have buttons to navigate to another frame where the viewer can Read More Details. In order to get my button to work, I had to type about_mc. before the event listener of that button. Here's the code that worked.

So I am now able to navigate to frames from buttons inside the mc. My next task was to build a close button to navigate back to the about page from the "Read More Details" page on a 101. Here's the code I used on frame 101:

The first shows the flash stage at its default size - as you can see my font is all distorted and weird looking but when you zoom in (image 2) it's exactly like it should be. What would make it look like this when the stage hasn't been zoomed out or anything, it's just from pressing cmd and enter from flash?
I embedded it by putting it into the fla's library.
I recently hired a programmer to design a flash health calculator for my website. It works great and text shows up correctly when viewing online and standalone. The problem starts when I try to edit the file. I wanted to change some text in an action layer. That seems to work out fine but when I try to publish I get garbled text.
I should also mention that when loading the file I get a Font Mapping dialog box stating "The document 'x' contains one or more fonts not available on your system. The text will display and publish with the font mapping below:". I have tried to select various fonts in this dialog box but still get garbled text.
When I publish I also get this on the Output box: "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."
I am experiencing some rather quirky behaviour with datagrid itemRenderers. First, I create an ArrayCollection as follows:

And afterwards I bind it to a datagrid:

When running this, the datagrid only shows a row with the correct itemRenderer if the boolean == true. For the row where the boolean == false, it will display an empty row.
I would also like to add that wrapping the boolean in a wrapper object will not cut it for my use case since I will receive an ArrayCollection of unwrapped booleans through an RPC call.

I am not a specialist with flash, but I have read that classical getURL code does not work in AS3.
I am an html/css programmer and don't know much about Flash. I've just been asked to update this site which has many Flash elements. I just dissected the site but can't figure out where the slideshow is coming from on the home.html page. I opened the index.swf object and there are no images just a background. I believe the original designer used Flashbox for the slideshow and Flash as the backdrop? I think I have the other galleries (click View Rings portfolio or another portfilio) figured out.
It looks like it's pulling in a Flash file and the Flash file is pulling in images for the slideshow (at the bottom) from the images.xml file. I opened the Flash file (image gallery.swf) and the full pop up -- background and large photo and slideshow -- are included in the .swf file unlike the index.swf file. Am I correct? Not sure if a Flash file would pull in images from an images.xml file. How do I edit the Flash file if it's not pulling the images from the images.xml file? When I open the file it just shows me the .swf file in design view.Is this over my head and should I hire someone with Flash and Flashbox experience?
