Use SSL To Secure Only Log In And Sign Up In Flex?

I have a flex application, running with amfphp and connected to wamp, I want to use a secure connection using ssl, but my whole application is running from the same swf file, would using ssl in that case mean that all the data, being sent and received between the server and client ,encrypted? Because this is not what I'm trying to do, I only want to encrypt the sign up and sign in data.
please note that, I have log-in bar which is visible the whole time as long as the user is not signed in.in other words, I only want to secure some of the data being transferred not every thing.

We are planning a desktop client application with Adobe AIR. The client app will be delivered to our customers with a database, which contains monthly updated marketing data provided by our company. As different customers will buy different sets of data from us, for example, a customer is only interested in marketing data in a specific product category, while another customer need all data in a certain region. After a customer installs this client app, new data will be emailed to the customer every month.
So, the requirement is to keep the data accessible only by the customer who bought it. After reading through AIR's secure local store and database encryption feature, I came up with the following design: each customer will have his own secret key (stored in AIR's secure local store), the secret key is used to encrypt the data that the customer has purchased. Of course, the monthly data that we sent to the customer will be encrypted using the same secret key. So my questions are: is AIR's database encryption and secure local store secure enough for this use case? If someone gets the encrypted database file, can he decrypt the DB?

I have just converted a native Android app to Flex 4.5 AIR, and I now need to sign it.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the keystore that I used to sign the original Android app?
If so, how do I get a P12 out of it to use in Flex.

when I debug a flex application in the properties of display objects i also see variables that start with a dollar sign, like: $alpha, $width, $x, etc.. what are they? are they different from the "normal" alpha, width, x properties?

I want to restrict my NumericStepper so that you can't type invalid characters into it (like a comma). I'm trying this, and it works:
<s:initialize>
stepper.textDisplay.restrict = "0-9 - .";
</s:initialize>
<s:NumericStepper id="stepper" />
Except the negative sign can't be typed anymore, even though I specify it. If I do it directly on a TextInput, it works:
<s:TextInput restrict="0-9 - ." minimum="-10" />
Why doesn't this work?

What's the best way to secure a Flex-BlazeDS application? I've googled it an several solutions came up.UPDATE after question from jsight:Flex would login, so on the RemoteObject I'll set Credentials I don't know if there comes authentication and authorization with BlazeDS (WebORB for instance does and WebORB looked at BlazeDS for their product) SSL not needed 've seen some links on the internet talking about spring security, so I'll check that out.

i recently had a look to the tutorial for custom authentication within a flex application. The login is managed by getting the ChannelSet from a RemoteObject:

After that the channlset can be used with the login command of ChannelSet. How can i insure that this is using a secure connection? I know that there is a amf channel and a secure amf channel. But how to tell to provide the credentials in a secure connection?

I have an application running on flex and php, connected using amfphp, i added a secure channel to services.conf of amfphp [code]how do i know if flex is actually using this secure channel? i tried [code]from the php side and they are both false ... but if i remove these checks it works fine, I'm using wamp, with mod_ssl, and working from localhost

An Adobe FLEX 4 object loads from a webpage and runs in the browser. The connection between browser and server is secured using SSL over HTTP (HTTPS) with a secure certificate from a valid Certificate Authority.
Can FLEX code read the secure certificate information and retrieve information such as to whome the certificate was issued, when it is valid, and for what domain it was issued, etc. ?

I'm working on a web application that has an (end user) user interface built in Flex and a management user interface built using Spring MVC. I'm trying to secure both interfaces and can get each one working separately, but not together. I'm using a snapshot build of spring-flex-core 1.5.0 with Spring Security 3.1RC1 and Spring 3.1M1

I'm obviously missing something but while the Spring Flex documentation describes how to configure a hybrid MVC+Flex application at the servlet level it appears to only consider security from the perspective of a flex-only application.

I have a flash movie that loads variables from a text file. I need it to be able to display plus signs. Right now they are omitted from display.
For example, if the text file reads variable1=1 + 1; Flash displays "1 1".
Is there a special way to store plus signs in the text file so they are displayed properly?

When I enter my e-mail address in an input text field in the flash movie, some funny character appears before @. How do I solve this? I googled a bit and found out thatActionScript Code:System.useCodePage = true; could cause this, and I was told by someone else that @ sign wasn't included in the system character set. I have a dynamic text field that I would like to say "+250 Points". After embedding the fonts, it works fine with a normal font like Arial. But when I try to use a downloaded font, the text shows up with a vertical rectangle instead of a plus sign (mytextField.text = "+250 Points"; ).The font that I'm using (Arcade Classic) has a plus sign character that I can type in to the field in Flash, but AS3 won't cut it. This is after selecting All glyphs and putting in + on the extra characters to embed.

I have to make connection to the DB and Insert a row based on the data that the SWF sent me...I will need to make it so that the SWF->PHP part is secure by not letting users tamper with data.I don't want to use SSL because its not a suitable solution... what other method is available?

I have an SWF that communicates with a PHP file and ultimately the DB. The PHP checks whether the User has the appropriate Password etc. and if it is accepted, the actions the person performed on the SWF (game) are used to compete with other Players of the game.

To clarify: If a character in the game can only move 1 square at a time, can an evil evil hacker/decompiler (who is a Player in the game) tell the SWF to tell the PHP file that his/her character moves 3 squares at a time?
I'm just want a sense that things will be somewhat secure. There isn't any sensitive information in the SWF besides the location of the PHP file on the net.

I am trying to display country codes(+91, +60, +01) in the combobox. Although the dataprovider(array) contains + sign but is removed. I am not getting how to show it with sign.

I've downloaded a template flash slideshow, and the client want's to display a price on the text the appears with the pictures. No problem I thought. Dollar signs work fine, but pound signs, no. Reading round on the net, this has something to do with embedded fonts ?
I emailed the developer who said I needed to add the pound sign to the text fields in the source file. Ok so I look through the source file, I can see one thing that looks like a text field. Forums say choose properties and the should be a font's dropdown.

Im making a map editor so i can paste the array into the game so i can use the map, does anyone know how i can get the " symbol to export and display in a text box.
here is a standard map,

I want that to export into the textbox but can get everything but the " signs.
i know its simple but im lost, i was thinking of using ASCII code for the " symbol which is, " but no luck with that either.
