Actionscript 3 :: Optimize Random Seeking Of Embedded Video In Flash?
Apr 8, 2011
I have an Embedded (synchronized with timeline) clip in a flash movie.I am controlling the currentFrame of the clip by dragging a slider left to right (to simulate rotating an object).The problem is when I go forwards, motion is smooth, but if I drag to the left Flash cannot seem to efficiently play back in reverse and the motion is extremely jerky.Obviously I'm skipping frames depending upon the position of the mouse, but there is a very noticable lag when currentFrame is decreased vs. increased. Is there a way to optimize an embedded timeline clip for reverse random seeking like this?Possible solutions (untested) :Use video instead of embedded - I would expect this to make the situation worse though!Create a second reversed video for when scrolling to the left. This would probably double the file size.
I am working on a system that requires me to be able to load large video files using Flash. However, the problem I am running into is that users need to be able to seek to a random point in the file that may or may not be downloaded yet and have it instantly start playing (think Youtube). The video files can be hosted anywhere, and thus I do not have the ability to install policy files or anything of the like.
I have looked into this, and cannot find any answers. Does anyone know of a way to enable this random seeking in Flash files without policy requests or an RTMP server installed at the destination?
At the moment i am using vlc to transcode my video realtime and display the output through Flowplayer.The problem is that I am struggling to seek using flowplayer my time gets out of sync between the stream and flowplayer and there are a few other issues.Are there any streaming servers that allow for real time transcoding and allow for a flash player to seek.
Normally we use NetStream.Seek method but it will make the seek after the buffer area crossed the seek time length.(HTTP). Can we seek the video that is beyond the buffered area like youtube in red5. Will it start the buffer from the seek point.
I was told there is a server technology that allows user to seek to a part of video that has not been loaded yet even if I am using progressive download, not true streaming.
For video playing I used as3 sample script (because there must be only playpause, replay, mute buttons with custom styles), like that
var strSource:String = "video.flv"; // create a new net connection, add event listener and connect // to null because we don't have a media server
[Code]....
The problem is that I can't find a way to play it smoothly. It's loading in very annoying way, video is interrupted after each few seconds of playing.
I understand that the main problem is large video file size and hd quality, but may be there is some way to largely decrease .flv size or handle playback in more friendly way?
I was trying to further reduce the filesize of a SWF file by optimizing the embedded PNG graphics (using ImageOptim tool). To my surprise, this didn't yield any effect, so I created two test Images:
Original (433883 bytes) Optimized (273723 bytes)
When embedding either of these assets in a simple ActionScript project, the compiled SWF is ~274kb in size. Which raises the question: Does Flex optimize embedded PNG assets during compile-time? If yes, is there some documentation about the optimization going on? It can't be because of the SWF compression alone, because zipping the images doesn't reduce filesize at all.
Here's the Code for completeness: package { import flash.display.Sprite; public class SizeTest extends Sprite { [Embed("/assets/original.png")] private var ImageAsset:Class; public function SizeTest(){ }}}
I'd like to gain read only access to the following parameters of embedded Flash videos located on sites that I do not own through my own custom browser extension/add-on:
Time location of playback head (so I can display the current time in the browser extension via HTML5/JavaScript) Frames (so I can make capture them to an image file, save it and display image in browser extension) Original Dimensions in pixels (so I can display the original video dimensions via JS/HTML5 in browser extension)
Is this possible by using Javascript and HTML5 from a browser extension?
Would I have to use something like the SWFObject Javascript API [URL]
I have an flv with some navigation cue points embedded in it. The video is pretty long. When I upload it to my site, I cannot access cue points in unbuffered parts of the video. What do I need to do so I can jump to unbuffered parts of my video?
Am working in flex video player with RTMP.How to skip the video file to the middle of a video without having to download the whole file using RTMP.Where i want to put the Video file(FLV). Red5 server location or any other folder.Where i want to put the flex project out put file Red5 server or any other server like XAMPP. How Can i skip the frames in flex using RTMP(*red5*)..
Here's what's going on: I have an F4V file loaded into a SWF. There are no real playback controls -- nor do I want any. I've created a "skip" button that's supposed to a) pause (or seek to 0) the video, then remove the video from the stage. It seems I can either pause the video OR seek to zero, but not both.Here's what I've tried:
I have a "video on demand" video that I'd like to seek at any point of the video. It's playing on a Motorola Xoom tablet. I can seek to the beginning of the video when the playhead is near the beginning. However, if I the playhead is towards the end of the video and I attempt to seek to the beginning of the video, the video seeks many seconds after the start of the video. I thought this might be a buffering issue, so I set inBufferSeek to true, but I still have the same issue.
I'm working on creating a simple projection mapping application in flash for a class. One of the biggest hurdles is superimposing a video in "3D". The way I intend to do this, is to transform the individual points of the video to match the cubes I'm projecting on.
I am new to Flash and this may sound, well dumb but here it goes. I have taken some video files from Final Cut Pro converted them to FLV's imported them and embedded them into flash to create some banners for the web. I need to know what settings I should use to get these out of Flash for the web.
Also I need to send them to someone to look at before publishing. What would be the best format to do that in and how to do it.
Also has anyone has any experience creating banners in or online ads in a Video format like FCP and embedding them into a flash file to export them in flash for we publishing. Sorry again for the dumb question, just new to Flash.
So what I am curious about is if it is possible and how, to have an embedded video and capture the thumbnail. There are other sites that share video and I'd like to get the thumbnails from the embedded videos, but they use flash video players to show the video and likely use flashvars to pull up the right video.
I've been trying to automate some of the capture of thumbnails and embedded videos but have no clue how to get remote thumbnails from these videos.
I have embedded a flash video on my website. [URL]...I am having the problem that it seems to rescale fine in Firefox on the Mac, but in Firefox in Windows it just crops the video.
Here it my HTML <object width="650" height="500"> <param name="movie" value="How To Add A Location"> <embed src="http://www.fribblesoft.com/zs-content/How_To_Add_A_Location.swf" width="650"
I have three (youtube) videos embedded in Flash. Every time a new video is a loaded, the sound video from the old video continues to play. I have tried using removeMovieClip(); and I have tried stopAllSounds(); I have tried 'delete video_mc'. Nothing seems to work!
Here is my script: ActionScript Code: // Video Script // Default - We'd Drink // show this video on load showDefault(); videoBtn1.onRelease = showDefault; function showDefault(){ [Code] .....
So i have been working on a project, its a digital portfolio. Now I have the Host Movie and and then I have a submovie which is loaded into the Host movie. That all works fine!
I have embedded a video onto the stage and when I click the exit button to go back to my host the video still plays. Here is my code.
function exit(event:MouseEvent):void { var parentObj:Object=this.parent.parent; parentObj.closeMovie(); }
[Code].....
I also have 3 other objects in the submovie which loads 3 other sub movies. Inception!
They work fine, but yet again the video still plays in the background.
I have a video that I've embedded into a project by means of linking it from my server, where it lives (not embedding it into the actual project) and I cant for the life of me find a way to get the video to continually loop when it finishes. Any looping meathod I've found so far using AS3 only loops the basic animations in the movie, not the video.
The following is the code I am using to display a YouTube embedded video in my flash application.
Code:
Security.allowDomain("youtube.com"); var plr:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); addChild(plr);
[Code]....
I cannot load more than one of those in my app. As soon as I load one youtube vid like that, any others will fail to load UNLESS it was the same video as the first one loaded, in which case there seems to be a 50% chance that it will load. And even when the second one (the same as the first) does load, there are issues with the player loaded.... it seems they are connected somehow and get confused with each other. The trackbar will flicker between the play time of the first one and the play time of the second one.
Next problem... I cannot unload the video right away. Say my user wants to close the video out, when I use:
Code:
ldr.unload()
the player does NOT close its streams and you can hear the audio still playing (assuming it was closed before it was finished playing)...
In my eyes, this is horribly bad programming on YouTube's part. They claim that you are allowed to embed their videos in AS3.0, but if that's true then why does it have such a horrible time as a child SWF? Proper children SWF files should be listening for an "unload" call and close out anything they need to when unloaded.
Here is what I've tried so far:
- Seperating the videos by loading them into other children SWF files (children that I created that I've told to load a specific YouTube vid)
- loading at different times
- Allowing security access from YouTube
How can I load more than one YouTube video into my Flash App without causing problems between them? I'm at my wit's end.
I would like to take a Flash video that is hosted on another site (like Youtube) and embed it into my own site with a custom designed HTML5 / CSS / jQuery GUI for player controls.
Would I have to create the new player GUI in Flash?
Then I hear the sound playing for the flash, but it shows up as a white box.
Similarly, any other page with embedded flash has the same problem. I've also tried making a string containing static HTML content, and loading that into the browser... but it has the same problem.
I've read every solution I could find online, from setting the view to invisible until the onPageFinish event is called, to extending the WebView class, and paining over it. I've tried reflection, to call hidden properties on the WebView's settings for enabling flash, etc. Nothing works.
Is it possible to edit the text of an embedded video in Flash? What I mean to say I have embedded one video with Flash video encoder into my fla and the video has some text which now I want to edit as per my choice.
was wondering if I could get some direction on something that I have been wondering about for a while. There have several flash video players that I have seen that only start to load/play the video when the object is visible on the screen.For instance, if I click a link to an html page with an auto playing flv on it, and then minimize the window. The video will only start to play/load once I maximize the window again. The other instance I have seen it is with the position of the page. So if an flv is placed onto a long html page, all the way at the bottom, it will only begin to load/play once I have scrolled to make it visible.
I have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.
