Actionscript 3 :: SOAP Web Services In Flash Builder 4.5 Won't Accept A String With Spaces Or Quotes

When using SOAP web services in Flash Builder, I am able to use the web services tool and test making service calls without any issue.I can pass strings that contain spaces, double and single quotes with great success. when I write code to send a string containing spaces or quotes, the web service doesn't return a success response.If I remove the quotes and/or spaces, success.I've tried wrapping the string in tags, but I don't know what else to do.

I have been tinkering around with ServiceStack to expose some web services and have been very impressed. One potential consumer of these services will be a Flex application. Flash Builder (the Flex IDE) has a tool that auto-generates proxy AS3 classes for SOAP web services based on the wsdl - at this point in time only for SOAP 1.1.
If I recreate the HelloWorld tutorial, and try to use the SOAP 1.1 wsdl to autogenerate classes, I get the following errors in Flash Builder. There was an error during service introspection. The part 'parameters' has an invalid value 'HelloResponse' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema. The part 'parameters' has an invalid value 'Hello' defined for its element. Element declarations must refer to valid values defined in a schema. I am sure this is a problem with Flash Builder's tool. I am wondering if anyone has been successful in auto-generating AS3 classes from a ServiceStack wsdl?

Is it possible to configure Flash Builder 4 to indent using spaces instead of tabs?
I've enabled Preferences > General > Editors > Text Editors > Insert spaces for tabs but it still inserts tabs. I've tried editing files with no tabs but it still inserts tabs.
What's strange is that Insert spaces for tabs works in Eclipse but not Flash Builder, which is built on Eclipse. Perhaps there's a bug in Adobe's portion of Flash Builder.
I'm running Flash Builder 4.0.0.272416 on Mac OS X 10.6.

I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?

I'm trying to consume a .Net web service of mine in a Flex Builder 3 project. The function's signature in the service is:
bool MyFunction(Enums.Channels var1, Enums.Payments.PayMethods var2)
I tried importing the WSDL with the wizard but when I tried to call the web service it results in an error stating
"Cannot marshall type "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema::EnumsChannel"to simple type"
What kind of object do I need to create in Flex Builder 3 to pass into the webservice so that it will recognize it as the appropriate type? The wizard is not correctly creating the appropriate type. Here is the xsd for the enums.

Adobe page for LoaderInfo states: The two sources of parameters are: the query string in the URL of the main SWF file, and the value of the FlashVars HTML parameter (this affects only the main SWF file). I have a Flash Builder 4.6 project that is referencing an external ActionScript calculation library (swc). I am having some annoying issues when trying to convert a number to a string for display.

The first assignment of totalFuelCosts is fine, but the second to totalEmissions constantly gives me the following error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type String to an unrelated type Number I initially used toString() which worked fine, then about 10 minutes later gave me an error. So I switch to String() which again works fine, then about 10 minutes later gives me an error. I have also click 'Project' 'Clean' and cleaned all projects, this clears the error, but it comes back again about 10 minutes later.

I'm bringing in data from .csv file as a string and then slicing it up into and array so I can apply the values to some text fields. For whatever reason it is starting and ending the string with which as we know is the new line character in as3, I would like to remove these from the string but I'm not really sure what the code is to target them. I'm looking to consume SOAP services -- read only -- from a third party web service. I know Flex has strong SOAP functionality. I am wondering, however, if there is any benefit to using e.g. Ruby or PHP to consume those 3rd party services and then passing the results to Flex, versus doing it all in Flex. Other than decoupling the client code from the SOAP logic, I can't really think of one.

I am writing an application in Flash Builder 4.5. I am also writing a PHP Web service to access data from our MySQL database. This Web service will be made available to third party clients for them to develop applications to access our database as well, via SOAP.
Is there a big performance difference between connecting to the service in Flash Builder via connecting directly to the PHP file vs. connecting to a Web Service via SOAP?I would kind of like to connect to this service the same way that our clients will, to make sure things stay as uncomplicated as possible for future development, but performance is my main priority.

I'm helping w/ the website at our church and came across the "Flash Random Quotes" tutorial here on kirupa.com at:url..How can I do something like this, but I want the quotes to randomly display about every 10 seconds, as long as the page is open.I don't want to only have one, single random quote on page load.I'm tasked to have a random display of ongoing "testimonies" on our church website. Right now, I'm using jquery, but it's quirky (as you can see below), but the worst thing is, it isn't random - it loads the testimonies in order that they are listed in the sidebar.php file. So, everybody that visits reads the same few testimonies at the beginning, and doesn't see the other ones.I'd rather try and use Flash to pull random testimonies from the quotes file ... but I don't want it to only show one ... I want it to show a random testimony, then about 10 seconds later, show another random one, etc.
