Aug 23, 2010I have MovieClips on my Flash Stage that when clicked on--they toggle ON/OFF. My goal is that when a user clicks either ON/OFF--then leaves the flash website--another user can visit the site--and see that state of that MovieClip was either left ON/OFF.
I would need a way that when a user toggles ON/OFF--that state is saved in a variable--passed onto PHP--saved in an XML file--and then when that is done--Flash calls a function to update--to read the XML file--see if it needs to update the ON/OFF state of the MovieClip toggle button.
Multiple people would be able to go to this flash site--and toggle (ON/OFF) the objects on the stage. When more than one person is toggling--those people should instantly see objects being toggled (ON/OFF).
Serialization / Deserialization Process To Save / Load State Of A Workspace In Flex
Jul 15, 2010I'm trying to use the native flex serialization/deserialization process to save/load state of a workspace in flex. In order to save or load a file I have to use my servlet, which just bounces back the bytes from the input stream to the output stream. Here's a basic outline of my Flex code:[code]So my problem here is not with the saving of the workspace. That works great. My problem is with the loading of a workspace. The event.data that I write to the byte array is not reconstituted into a MyWorkspace object even though it is exactly what I wrote to the file.There has to be a way of making a MyWorkspace object from the data, but I can't figure it out.

Sep 21, 2011I'm trying to maintain a web applications state across multiple tabs whilst using ActionScript, JavaScript, and PHP. Should I use AJAX to update the database after an item has been purchased etc, or should I prevent the game being loaded if it's already open in a single tab (if so how could I achieve this)?
I'm building a facebook game, when the user buys an item and has many open tabs it doesn't update the state in the other open tabs. The buying of an item is handled by ActionScript, and the storage of that item is dealt with using PHP.

My main question is this - because I will need to track data over many months, how do I make sure it is saved by flash? Do I have to host it as a website so it is 'always running'? When the user presses the Save button in the NavigatorContent the form and the children should be saved to the database by calling the server through BlazeDS:

Sep 16, 2009I have successfully been able to write some client-side ActionScript that allows me to record my webcam and mic data to my FMS server. The .flv files get saved to a directory under the applications directory. However, I need to process those flv files for a web application and would like those .flv files to be saved to the web app's directory (outside of the FMS application directory). I have tried changing the <Streams> tag in the Application.xml file that I placed in the FMS application directory, but that simply did not work.My goal is simple: to save the recorded stream data outside of the FMS application's directory. I have been going crazy trying to do this, but would like to know any pointers that any of you experts have. Can this be done? If not, how can I execute a server side PHP script after the stream is done recording. I know about using the exec() function in PHP, but am unsure as to how to execute that script via client-side actionscript.Here is the path to my FMS server (Linux OS) installation and the application directory. Whilst the user is reading the warm and fuzzy welcome note in the welcome state I want to be creating the big expensive panels state so taht when we switch there is no delay. Before the panels state is set panelView is null but I presume there must be an IDefferredInstance floating around somewhere that I can use to kick off the creation of the view. How can I get hold of it?
