View 1 RepliesJust a quick question today, is there any way to quickly and simply fit a string of text into a circular shape? Almost as if the text field was circular instead of rectangular. I have been working on a game where the text is presented in a series of speech bubble shapes, and previously I've had to manually insert " " around the text to get it to fit. This was a bit of a hassle but overall not too much extra work. Now, however, the game has been translated into 14 different languages and I sure as hell am not going through all that text to sort it out again haha
If there's no quick and easy way to do it (I don't really want to go down the route of using a loop to search for the last space in the first X characters and inserting a new line, etc) I'm just going to contact the artist and ask him to make the speech bubbles rectangular lol I did a google search to see if I could find anything but most of the stuff I found either wasn't relevant or said "there isn't an easy way to do it yet" but I just wanted to check here first.
I draw a circle in authoring flash or in as3 and when i test it in flash ;it looks ok but when i doubleclik the swf in flashplayer i get an oval instaed of a circle!!!
View 1 RepliesSo I can create a circle and an oval using trig in flash. But what if I want to create an oval with rounder points? I'm using this code for circles and ovals:[code]Could anyone help me in editing the code so i can control the tips of the oval and make them rounder?
View 9 RepliesI do know how to use the oval / rectangle and oval / rectangle primitive tools in the tool bar and find them quite useful, but one thing I find confusing is. A oval / rectangle primitive object can be edited later but the oval / rectangle can't. So the point is,how do we use them properly ? when to use ? Why does Adobe Flash still keep the oval / rectangle tool in their product instead of removing them with the oval / rectangle primitive tool ?
View 2 RepliesI'm developing a game atm, and I need some help on the mathematics/coding of colliding circles (and their change in x/y speed). What i need to know is how to calculate the direction and speed a circle has after colliding with a static (non-moving) circle. I know how to detect a collision between the two, but I'm not sure about the maths I need to give the circle the right speed and direction after the collision
If i do know how far away the two circle-points (in the middle of each) are to each other (in both x and y coords) would it be easy for me to find the new speed and direction of the large circle in the example above? I know that I somehow should use the angles to pretend the circle hits a flat "wall" (as it only hits one point), and then calculate the new speed/direction. My only problem is that I'm not sure how to decide the angle of this flat "wall" and how x and y speeds should change when colliding with a wall that is angled. Does anyone here have any insight, links or tips on how I can du this?
i want to make one circle follow the mouse cursor, inside another circle. Similar to an eye looking at the cursor. Ive attached an example.
View 4 RepliesI have text in a dynamic field showing up as circle. I want to say if circle shows up change it to cercle (french).

View 6 RepliesI`m working on a app that you can draw lines.....like circles, rectangles... my problem is when a user draw a circle for example....i wanna be able to paint (change color) inside of this circle. I`ve tried working on Shapes with cacheAsBitmap = true and Bitmaps with BitmapData but it doesn`t seens to work.
View 4 RepliesI want to create circle, and put 8 points on it. So, user can drag each point in order to change it's shape.
Is there any way to do this in flash?
I have some following code:
Ref. - How to draw a continuous curved line from 3 given points at a time
package{import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.geom.Point;
[Code].....
So, can anyone convert these three point curve line to 8 points circle?
I have to draw a circle using action script. The Circle Diameter has to be controlled by a button.
View 0 RepliesTrying to do circle circle collisions via math which I'm really having trouble with. One circle (player) just moves from keyboard. The ball reacts to the player. All the code shown is in my players class and I passed in a reference to the ball.
On my enterframe I have:
Code:
var xmov1 = xSpeed;
var ymov1 = ySpeed;
var xmov2 = ballRef.xSpeed;
var ymov2 = ballRef.ySpeed;
[code]....
Perhaps I'll go with a box2d equivalent instead of trying out my own physics shenanigans.
Here I what i need is : Start drawing first circle and when first circle is on half way, Start second circle.same way second and third circles. and after completing 3 circles, just gotoAndPlay 2nd Frame .
View 3 Repliesi have an circle shape, and what i would like to achieve is that it gets masked and thenon enter frame it zhould get unmasked like a clock, so you get to see from 0 to 1, then from 0 to 2, 0 to 3, etc, i know it has to be done with radiants etc but math isnt really my cup of tea.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to tween the oval primitive from within flash? I would like to do a tween where I move the start angle, but I can't seem to be able to tween the oval. Is this possible?
View 1 RepliesI am looking at the Kirupa code for random movement (Random movement in Flash MX), and I am trying to figure out if I can limit the movement to the shape of an oval.
I want to do an overhead shot of a bunch of little people swiming in an oval swimming pool.
Is it possible to make text on circle path in Flash?
View 7 RepliesWay to take a piece of text and make it go around the edge of a line that is warped? (specifically, circular, but I'm sure once it's following the line, the shape is not relevant). I can't find a good resource for how to do this. I assume I'll need to create separate movie clips for each character and then rotate, and position, but I'm having a hard time finding a resource for how to do this.
View 4 RepliesI need some trick to make my text appear in a circle (not revolve in circular path). I have attachesample have a look at it
View 2 RepliesI am new to flex and action script. How can i display the text(radius) on circumference of circle?
View 2 RepliesI have a simple three ring animation where the three rings fade in and out.On the stage the rings are a perfect circle, in the publish preview they look fine, but once I publish the SWF, all of the sudden the rings are not perfectly round anymore.
They are almost perfect but right at the top and bottom there is just a small portion which has sort of "flattened out"...
I bought a Flash video tutorial online for Animating and the FIRST step is to create a circle with the circle tool, and the guy does it online, and it fills itself in. I repeat his actions exactly and I cannot get the same result at all. I just get a circle.
View 5 RepliesI have two MC's, circular in shape. One of the circles is stationary and you can drag the other. I'm trying to get the moveable circle to be able to move around the circumference of the stationary circle, but not overlap. I'm able to detect when they overlap, not using hittest. I just can't figure out how to code it so that the draggable circle can't be moved over the stationary circle.
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone know of any tutorial or code example that deals with resolving circle-circle collisions including rotation?
View 2 RepliesI have been trying to get this right for hours now it cant be as hard as I am finding it! but basically I have a circle and in that circle is a circle and all I want is for the inner circle to not be able to leave its parent. that's it but I just cant get it to work.
View 1 RepliesI'm using Flash CS5's common library to put some buttons on the stage. I've gone into the classic buttons folder and dragged and dropped a blue oval button onto the stage, and it appears in the library, but the button looks totally different to the one in the library. Where the one in the library has shading and a glow effect, the one on stage looks flat, with just a primary colour and no shading or glow. This occurs whether I drag straight from the common library tab to the stage, or from the library panel on the right to the stage.
View 2 RepliesI have an array of items, and would like to position them from left to right, along the under part of an oval path, and space them evenly. (with actionscript).So, going from 180 degrees from the left, and ending up at 0 degrees on the right, while also increasing the y form 0 to 70, and then back to 0. The oval having a width of 1000px, and a height 0f 140px.
A) I have had a hard time getting the correct angle to start at (I figured it would be 180, because Flash's coordinate system is backwards).
B) How do I divide the space between the start angle and end angle evenly with the length of the arrray? It should be decreasing the angle to get back to 0, no?I have been using this structure:
Code: Select allvar angle:Number = 0;
var centerX:Number = 500;
var centerY:Number = 0;
var radiusX:Number = 500;
[code]....
I am fresher to as2, I'm doing a game, in that i need to rotate the movieclip in a oval path(not in circular path)
View 2 RepliesI was in an AS3 course last year and the instructor mentioned that the Oval Options of an Oval Primitive -- start angle, end angle, inner radius -- could be animated in AS3.Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, what are the Classes involved? I've been through everything I know and I can't find a reference to it.
