Professional :: Oval Buttons In Library Look Different On Stage
Jan 27, 2011
I'm using Flash CS5's common library to put some buttons on the stage. I've gone into the classic buttons folder and dragged and dropped a blue oval button onto the stage, and it appears in the library, but the button looks totally different to the one in the library. Where the one in the library has shading and a glow effect, the one on stage looks flat, with just a primary colour and no shading or glow. This occurs whether I drag straight from the common library tab to the stage, or from the library panel on the right to the stage.
I code other languages, Javascript,PHP, XHTML, CSS etc. I hope to get into this. I was just wondering how I can edit a primitive oval object thats on the stage in actionscript.
I have a drawing thats made up of (closed) ovals, which i have imported into flash from Illustrator. The ovals are simple "drawing objects", 0.1 thick with no fill. I need to find a way to animate these ovals "drawing" themselves.
The following code I found on website is for working with the image which is in library. But how to modify it to work with the image on stage. Because I don't want to use it from the library.
Is it the AS2 code or AS3. If it is AS2 code how to modify it to work with AS3.
I am using the CS4 version and when I click on the library item and drag it to the stage, there is nothing there. It is just a blank canvas and it's like the image(s) are hidden behind the stage or something. When I do a Publish Preview, I can see the .swf file with all the images, but in the .fla, there is nothing showing but the text files, and then that is even hidden in a newly created file. I am not sure if I accidently turned something on/off that is preventing my images from not showing on the stage or what. I really need to find a solution to this problem because I need to create a Flash file for a project I am working on in one of my classes. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have done Google searches and Forum searches to no avail unless I'm not using the right keywords in my search.
I am unable to add the Action Script 3 FLVPlayback component to my stage or library in Flash CS5.5 when working with an action script 3 document.
Under components in the video folder i click and drag anyone of the FLVPlayback components (FLVPlayback, FLVPlayback 2.5 or FLVPlaybackCaptioning) to the stage and nothing happens. I am unable to add it to my library as well. All the other actionscript 3 components under the Video folder work. (BackButton, BufferingBar, CaptionButton, If I create an actionscript 2 document the FLVPlayback component drags to the stage and adds to the library just fine. So this appears to be an actionscript 3 issue only.
I have 2 other employees in my office using the same product and none of them have this issue. Only me.
I have tried to uninstall the product and reinstall but nothing helps. I have Flash CS3 installed on my PC and the product has the same symptoms as the Flash CS5.5 trial version that I am running.
I did not try this with Flash CS3 before I installed the CS5 trial. So I do not know if it worked prior to my CS5 evaluation.
Everytime I'm trying to drag an image from the library to the stage, the program crashes. I've been sending the crash logs to Adobe many times, but never got any solution from them.
In the log there a line that says: <crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" instruction="0x0c4feb66>
I'm working with 10.0.2, I thought the latest update will fix that, but it doesn't. Changing the UI from Essential to Classic doesn't help
I need to create an object in code which can then be imported to the stage. Specifically it's a circle with an ellipse cut out of it. The size and position of the ellipse masked out need to be parameterized by sliders, and the size of the circle as a whole is also a parameter which might be dragged out on the stage.
Does anyone have an example of how to programatically create an object in action script which can be imported to the library which can take parameters (or rather expose some methods) which can be wired to other things in the project like a knob or slider?
I understand that I can see the usage count of a Library item easily. I have been assigned a task to edit someone else's Flash movie (I have been provided .fla source). The movies is extremely complex and I need to replace some images. How can I find out on which layer/frame does a Library Item appear on a Flash movie??
Anyhow, I have a few buttons (six of them) to scroll from left to right non-stop via looping. Those buttons are in the up state. What I want to achieve is that when someone hovers over one of the buttons, the entire scrolling temporarily stops and perhaps the hovered button becomes larger as well. I'm sure you've seen something similar on ebay listings before shown as slideshows.
my Over buttons are managed via movie clips, but not the Up state buttons.
I have this slideshow type of thing I'm putting together with next and back buttons. Everything works fine until I add audio to the timeline and then all my nav buttons flake out. I don't want to load these files externally or from the library because they are voiceover narration with all my animation synced up with what is being said.
I am importing a picture in flash and i found out that there is a difference between importing to the stage, and importing to the library... [URL] I've placed both picture close of each other and if you look closely, you'll notice that one of them is losing some resolution. Both picture come from the same file, a png. The picture imported to the stage is sharper than the one imported to the library. is there a way to import that picture to the library without losing any resolution?
I do know how to use the oval / rectangle and oval / rectangle primitive tools in the tool bar and find them quite useful, but one thing I find confusing is. A oval / rectangle primitive object can be edited later but the oval / rectangle can't. So the point is,how do we use them properly ? when to use ? Why does Adobe Flash still keep the oval / rectangle tool in their product instead of removing them with the oval / rectangle primitive tool ?
I am working in two different applications, one to be compiled for desktop use (AIR) and one to be compiled for the web. They are part of the same project and use the same visual components, but they are completely different apps. When a visual component is changed in one application then it should also change in the other one. Is this a good situation to use a shared library fla? I am new to the concept of shared libraries and I am considering the options.
On one had I would not have to update 2 applications everytime I change something, on the other, I would always have to recompile the library folder when I do the smallest changes to a component.
The problem is that even though this external movie covers the whole stage, My mouse can still "see" buttons that are on the stage, and I can click them. I don't want to be able to click the buttons through my external movie.
i have an circle shape, and what i would like to achieve is that it gets masked and thenon enter frame it zhould get unmasked like a clock, so you get to see from 0 to 1, then from 0 to 2, 0 to 3, etc, i know it has to be done with radiants etc but math isnt really my cup of tea.
Is there a way to tween the oval primitive from within flash? I would like to do a tween where I move the start angle, but I can't seem to be able to tween the oval. Is this possible?
I am looking at the Kirupa code for random movement (Random movement in Flash MX), and I am trying to figure out if I can limit the movement to the shape of an oval.
I want to do an overhead shot of a bunch of little people swiming in an oval swimming pool.
Just a quick question today, is there any way to quickly and simply fit a string of text into a circular shape? Almost as if the text field was circular instead of rectangular. I have been working on a game where the text is presented in a series of speech bubble shapes, and previously I've had to manually insert " " around the text to get it to fit. This was a bit of a hassle but overall not too much extra work. Now, however, the game has been translated into 14 different languages and I sure as hell am not going through all that text to sort it out again haha
If there's no quick and easy way to do it (I don't really want to go down the route of using a loop to search for the last space in the first X characters and inserting a new line, etc) I'm just going to contact the artist and ask him to make the speech bubbles rectangular lol I did a google search to see if I could find anything but most of the stuff I found either wasn't relevant or said "there isn't an easy way to do it yet" but I just wanted to check here first.
I have an array of items, and would like to position them from left to right, along the under part of an oval path, and space them evenly. (with actionscript). So, going from 180 degrees from the left, and ending up at 0 degrees on the right, while also increasing the y form 0 to 70, and then back to 0. The oval having a width of 1000px, and a height 0f 140px.
A) I have had a hard time getting the correct angle to start at (I figured it would be 180, because Flash's coordinate system is backwards).
B) How do I divide the space between the start angle and end angle evenly with the length of the arrray? It should be decreasing the angle to get back to 0, no?I have been using this structure:
Code: Select allvar angle:Number = 0; var centerX:Number = 500; var centerY:Number = 0; var radiusX:Number = 500;
I was in an AS3 course last year and the instructor mentioned that the Oval Options of an Oval Primitive -- start angle, end angle, inner radius -- could be animated in AS3.Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, what are the Classes involved? I've been through everything I know and I can't find a reference to it.
I want to add a nice mc. It is on my library. I've checked "Export for Actionscript" and "... frame 1" checkboxes. It has a name "step2". Base class name "flash.display.MovieClip".I also have an .as that works ok.
I draw a circle in authoring flash or in as3 and when i test it in flash ;it looks ok but when i doubleclik the swf in flashplayer i get an oval instaed of a circle!!!
Attempting to move from AS2 to AS3 and become OOPed! I've come to a sudden halt over the last few days with some basics.I will use a simply example to describe my query.3 movieclips, a square, circle and oval, drawn in Flash, dragged to the stage and given instance names of square, circle and oval! The square and circle sit on the main timeline, the oval movieclip sits within the circle movieclip. How can I alter the .alpha property of the square from within the oval? Each movieclip has its own class .as file (and linked to the instance on stage) but I have not been able to generate a path in the ovals AS3 class script to access outside it and up to the square on the main timeline to change the squares .alpha property.
I'm learning AS3. There are two buttons converted to MC inthe library. Their class linkage names are: next_bt1 and back-bt1.I have a PesticideEducation.fla and PesticideEducation.as onthe same folder. Here is my code, which doesn't report any error but thebuttons don't show on stage.me find the error on myscript.
package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class PesticideEducation extends MovieClip
I created a menu of invisible movieclips (from a library item with the class name Invis) with buttonmode set to true so that I can have them send the playhead to different labels on the main timeline.I could use some help with determining which button is clicked and then placing code that executes depending on which button is clicked. Here is what I have so far on frame 1 of my timeline:[code]
