Actionscript 3 :: Flash Supplied Index Is Out Of Bounds?

Dec 1, 2011

I'm trying to remove children from a movie clip upon user interaction but it's saying "the supplied index is out of bounds" - however, I must be missing something because it doesn't seem like anything is out of bounds. This is my code:

Circle.as:
for (var i=0; i<3;i++){ //this number should be based on the number of children found in the XML

ActionScript 3.0 :: Scrollpane - The Supplied Index Is Out Of Bounds

Dec 17, 2009

I'm adding a bunch of movieclips to a container clip. I then add that to the scrollpane. When I run scrollpane.update() it gives me the error "The supplied index is out of bounds". From the full error message it looks like it's happening on the DisplayObjectContainer/getChildAt() which is run in the update() method. I thought I had it going once but now it's not again and I can't figure out what I was doing differently.

Another day another problem unfortunately- the last line of this piece of code is the culprit:

uiBar = new mcUiBar();
uiBar.x=-15;
uiBar.y=-5;
addChildAt(uiBar, numChildren-1);

Now I researched and so I know it has something to with the array being larger thanwhatever, but I'm not figuring it out

I have a .sol file that can be opened using AS2 but when AS3 opens it i get RangeError: Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds.
at flash.net::SharedObject$/getLocal()

I have tried the SharedObject.defaultObjectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0 but this is for writing, not for reading.  Not sure what to do but to trap/suppress the error.  Does not solve the issue, any takers?  If it works in AS2 then it should work in AS3!

i reworked the code to make it error free. now all we're dealing with is the REANGE ERROR problem. i'm extremely new to flash and am reading people's answers on sites in which they solved this problem, but do not understand what people are saying at all.

let me explain my problem a little better: i am creating a drop down menu. everything is fine UNTIL i go to scroll over the button and get the error. i added inner glow, etc. and all of that works fine. i'm only stuck at where the drop down menu is supposed to descend

Flash :: Get The Specific Array Index Based On Value Inside The Index's Object?

Jun 22, 2011

So, for sending to individual streams we have to reference the connected netStream we want to send to in some way like this:

sendStream.peerStreams[0].send("MyFunction",param1,param2);

and I have to determine which peer I'm sending to by their ID such as "peerID1234"

I know that you can check the peerID of the stream by doing:

sendStream.peerStreams[0]["farID"]

how can I make my send stream function know to use the array index where the peerID is?

so basically it could be like:

sendStream.peerStreams[where peerStreams[]["farID"] == peerID].send("MyFunction",param1,param2);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash StartDrag Setting Negative Bounds?

Dec 17, 2010

I have a large movieclip (2336 x 1752) and a stage of 800 x 600. I want to be able to drag the movieclip around the stage so no white is visible:

minimum x before I get whitespace: -1536
minimum y before I get whitespace: -1152
maximum x before I get whitespace: 0
maximum y before I get whitespace: 0

I have tried this:

Code:
var mcBounds = new Rectangle(-1536, -1152, 0, 0);
mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);

[code]...

But it doesn't drag at all...when I try it just moves it to it's maximum position and stays there.Is it because the rectangle can't have negative values?

Flash - Error 2025: The Supplied DisplayObject Must Be A Child Of The Caller

Apr 6, 2010

I have a display() function for an object rotator(image based like a QT object movie). It first saves the current image in a helper variable and then allocates a new image, from the library, beneath the old one. To get a nice crossfade effect, the old image's alpha is looped down via enter_frame and then removed.

Which is where there seems to be an issue with the display list, maybe recognizing oldImg's value as being already added? (it's not a first pass error)

Btw, do i have to remove the old image or can i leave it, for when it's being called up via the mouse position again? (the image number can get fairly large)

function display(num:Number):void //num: image number
{
...
oldImg = newImg;

[Code].....

Actionscript 3 :: Display Objects Outside Of Stage Bounds Still Get Rendered By Flash?

May 7, 2010

If an object exists outside of Flash's stage boundaries, is on the Display List, and is visible, is it causing a performance hit from Flash rendering it? In other words, does Flash render what isn't seen?

This leads me to believe so:

Flash :: Gradient Fill Disappears When Drawn Outside Bounds Of Parent?

Nov 19, 2010

I'm trying to draw a gradient in Flash using beginGradientFill and drawRect, but when the rect being drawn is partially outside the bounds of the parent, the gradient isn't drawn at all.

For example, consider the code below:
function testGradient():void {
var g:Graphics = container.graphics;
var width:Number = container.width;
var height:Number = container.height;
[Code] .....

When the rectangle being drawn lies within the bounds of container, everything works: However, if the rectangle lies outside of the bounds of the container, the gradient isn't drawn at all. For example, if the code is changed to:
...
var x:Number = 10;
var y:Number = 10;
...
Then the gradient disappears: Short of doing the math required to draw the box inside the bounds of the parent (and fixing up the gradient so it looks correct), is there any way to deal with this?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Extending Outside Flash Movie Bounds In HTML Page

Dec 16, 2006

I have a flash file, which's dimensions are 500 px by 500 px. That's how I want it. However, sometimes something happens in the flash movie, causing a movieclip to extend outside the dimensions (which I need it to be seen by the user). Im putting this swf into an html file. I definately know there is a way where those out-of-bound movieclips can appear (inside a browser), overlapping other html elements, but I forgot how. Well, setting the wmode parameter to transparent will cause the movie to become transparent, revealing whatever's underneath, but this doesn't solve my problem. I don't want my movieclips to look "cut" when they happen to pass across my bounds. Probably the DIV tag is related here. I know that the cheapest way to solve this is by setting the movie dimension to something like 999 by 999. But I dont want to do that!
