Actionscript 3 :: Zoom Property, For Regular Video Instance?
Mar 7, 2011I notice that there is a zoom property on the new StageVideo class...is there something similar for the regular video object in Actionscript 3.0?

View 1 RepliesI am creating a full screen FLV player and I am using the
Stage["fullScreenSourceRect"] = new Rectangle();
method. The problem is, when I go to fullscreen my video controls are zoomed in as well making them a bit pixelated. I have seen some players like the one on

where they achieve full screen video and still keep the controls the same size.
is there any way, within a class definition, to access the instance name of the class?as in, say you have a class "playerObject", and you instantiate an instance of it like usualplayer:playerObject = new playerObject();is there an inbuilt property or variable i can access within the playerObject class code to return "player"?if, in the constructor, i trace(this) it returns [object Object], i tried things like this.name, this._name etc, of course they didnt work...
View 4 RepliesI have a problem with the piece of code that's been annoying me for a week. It should be very simple but all my attempts at a solution somehow seem to get thwarted by an invisible hand that wants me to fail.Here is the scenario: I am trying to create an image strip consisting of image thumbnails. When one mousovers each image it should print its information (say a name) in a textfield.I created an image container class that loads the images through a url request, then an image strip class that receives an array with image names and urls and displays them in a row. So far so good.
However when it comes to showing the info I have no clue how to address which image is being pointed at. I put a variable called imageIndex inside my imageContainer object, then put all the created containers in imageStrip's for-loop inside an array called mgContainerArray. I created a for loop in my fla that goes through this array and assigns all those containers a mouseover event listener. What I'm stumped with is that there is no way I can access the imageIndex variable from my function to tell the code which image is currently being mouseovered. It keeps giving me an error.Here is the code:
Code:
for(var i:Number=0; i<myImageStrip.imgContainerArray.length;i++){
myImageStrip.imgContainerArray[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,

How can I do that? Or I need to extends the Image class?
What should I do to make a non static variable accessible to only instances of the same class?
View 10 RepliesI'm a bit on the novice side of AS3 and am struggling away. I have one major issue which I cannot fathom.I have two swf's which I am loading into a flip book. They will both on the stage at the same time one on each side of the book. I want one to control the other. The issue is when I try to set up functions in one to control objects in the other I get and error about undefined properties. I assume this is because the objects I am referencing are not in the movie where the function lies. And vice versa, when I set up the functions in the movies when the objects are I get an error as the buttons are not defined as they are in the other swf.
View 4 RepliesI've got this code -
Code:
var enemyArrayOneA:Array = new Array();
for (var i = 1; i <= 84; i++) {
/*
[code]...
I try to use race("mc.main1.a_0" + i + ".x = " + enemyArrayOne[i].x); and it doesn't work...I'm trying to find out if I can store instance names of movie clips inside an array and retrieve the movie clip's x and y positions.
I don't understand this:
1. I have a class, UIMain, which extends MovieClip
2. There is an instance of UIMain on frame 2, with instance name of "main"
3. Document class contains:
ActionScript Code: public var main:UIMain; 3. I put this on frame 2 as a frame script: ActionScript Code: trace(main) I get null. Why? How can I fix this?
Im dynamically creating an instance of a movieclip, call it a game piece. This game piece has 4 frames, each with a movieclip called base(although one is red, one blue, one green, one yellow). When the game piece is created I set the frame to indicate player color. Im also changing the alpha of base to 1.0 when its being dragged, 0.5 when its dropped.
Using the following code, everything works fine if the game piece color is set to the base in frame 1 (red). If the game piece is created and the timeline moved to a frame other than 1, I throw an error when trying to access base.alpha (this would be the second, third, and fourth instances of base in the game piece timeline). Heres the strange part, this is only a problem when the game piece is first created and added to the display list. Once created, even after the error has been thrown, I can access the alpha of bases 2, 3, and 4 in the drag start/stop listeners. Heres a link to the work in progress, and the relevant sections of code (shortened for brevity, t1 is the top left piece on the pallet, others just repeat the same code):[URL]

I have make 3 classes objecthandler, box and nav. Nav is child class of objecthandler, I have make an instance of box into objecthandler and now I wanna access property of box through nav.
See the code:

I like finding out about tricky new ways to do things. Let's say you've got a class with a property that gets set to the value of an argument in the constructor, like so:[code]That's not exactly a hassle. But imagine you've got... I don't know, five properties. Ten properties, maybe. Rather then writing out each individual assignment, line by line, isn't there a way to loop through the constructor's arguments and set the value of each corresponding property on the new instance accordingly? I don't think that the ...rest or arguments objects will work, since they only keep an enumerated list of the arguments, not the argument names - I'm thinking something like this would be better:[code]
View 2 RepliesI want to make a scope wich can zoom in on button click and go back to previous stage (zoom out) also by clicking a button.Now i made it work for zooming in (when i click my button it zooms) but when i want to zoom out everything i tried didn't work .Here is the code:
//button for zoom in
zoom.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,glassMove);
function glassMove(event:MouseEvent):void{[code]..............
i've made a button that zooms into a movie clip on a rollover, but it on moves it a certain amount each time you rollover the button. code below:
on (rollOver){
_root.Mypic._width += 5;
_root.Mypic._height += 5;
}
wot i want it to do is to continue zooming in for as long as the mouse is over the button, is there anyway i can change the code to zoom in at the same amount but do it continuously until the mouse is moved off the button. Also is there anyway that i can set it so that the zoom stops at a certain percentage, i.e. it only zooms in so much and then stops. What i mean is that the user can zoom in but the picture will only zoom in to say 200% of the original size.
I am working on flash application TELESCOPE or Camera. My goal is to move around the scene and zoom-in or zoom-out I found that if I move scene, I have to move registration point, because I always want to zoom in the centre of my ocular. So far application works fine only if I move, zoom-in and than before I move any further, zoom-out! But when I move, zoom-in (not fully), move again and zoom-in again, the second zooming doesn't appear on desirable registration point
View 1 RepliesI narrowed the causes of an AS3 compiler error 1119 down to code that looks similar to this:
var test_inst:Number = 2.953;
trace(test_inst);
trace(test_inst.constructor);
I get the error "1119: Access of possibly undefined property constructor through a reference with static type Number." Now if I omit the variable's type, I don't get that error:

So what's the deal? I like explicitly typing variables, so is there any way to solve this error other than not providing the variable's type?
I have this code for my effect to zoom in and zoom out in certains buttons
canada.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, canadaover);
function canadaover(event:MouseEvent):void

the problem is when u reach certain corner of the button it kinda gets into a loop, any ideas how can i fix this?
Using flex / air 2.6 working on an Android device, I am using a canvas with a TransformGestureEvent for zoom in on a map. The listening of the efect is working ok, but I can´t seem to find the information on wether the user intended zoom in or zoom out (fingers getting closer or getting apart).I expected the intention of the gesture to be identifiable with the offsetX and offsetY properties of the event, as you will do on a swipe gesture event. But I always get 0 for both properties, no matter how I do the gesture in the device.How can I know if the fingers getting closer or getting apart in a gesture zoom event?

View 0 RepliesDoes creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?

I did a file/import/video and pointed to a video on my server and this is all on the first frame. On my aa layer I have the following[code]...
As you can see, when the video finishes, it hops to frame 2 and continues to the website. What started happening on a few occasions, is the timeline would randomly jump back to frame 2 for no apparent reason. I'm assuming it's because I didn't remove the instance of the video, or something along those lines? This whole issue on;y started when I introduced the video.
I need to have a button to be clicked for the zoom effcet to be activated, then when the mouse hovers over an image it should zoom to 200%. I have 40 images which I'd like to have this effect by.Also when the cursor is over the image is it possible to make the change the cursor to a magnifying glass?
View 1 RepliesI'm developing a full screen zoom/pan UI. Everything is working great, except I can't get it to center on the correct point when zooming in.
You can view what I have here: [URL]
The numbers in the top-left corner are the navigation, and the white boxes represent the individual sections.
I have a large container movieclip that fills the entire page. Inside of that movieclip (site) I have all of my individual section movieclips (section1-section6). I'm also using a dynamic registration point class to dynamically set the registration point of the "site" movieclip to the current selected section, so that the zoom in/out is centered on that section.
When a user clicks on a navigation item, I first reduce the _xscale and _yscale of "site" to 80, when that is complete I move _x and _y to the position of the selected section's movieclip. When that is complete, I set the _xscale and _yscale back to 100. Right now, it is not zooming in centered, so I have a final step where I correct the _x and _y position after zooming back in.
If I don't zoom in/out I can successfully pan the movieclip and center on the correct section. I believe the problem is that I am moving the _x and _y to the position of the "site" movieclip as if it is at 100%, but since it is at 80% it is not moving to the correct position. I tried to fix this by giving the _x and _y coordinates as:
endX = endX / 100 * 80;
Which made it a little better, but still not centered. I have a feeling that there may be a fundamental flaw in my approach to this.
For some reason the forum won't let me attach my .zip, so I posted it online, as well: [URL]
My code below, in case you don't want to download the file:
Code:
tile._alpha = 0;
currentSection = section1;
