Actionscript :: Delete Group Containers In Runtime In Flex

i am trying to make a some groups within a predefined group at run time. i can make groups, the code is working fine. Now i have added two buttons in each group which is created in run time. now the problem is one of the button is x . the property of button should be when i click on it it should delete the very specific group in which it is built. please check out the code and tell me what additions should i make.

Is it possible to delete the library items at runtime?
I am loading b.swf in a.swf. After some time b.swf unloads and c.swf is loaded inside a.swf. Though the b.swf unloads but the library items of b.swf remain there and conflict with the library items of c.swf. c.swf has some items with the same name as in b.swf. c.swf shows the movieclips from the library of b.swf with similar name.
I think the best way would have been to load these assets externally instead of keeping them in the library if we want to destroy them at runtime. But, we have a large number of already constructed files. Ability to destroy the library items at runtime will also help maintain memory usage in limits.

I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'
1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st'
2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.
So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before

I have several nested VBoxes in flex, and I'm aiming for one of them to get scrollbars if the total content is larger than the window height. However, when I grow the container, it doesn't get scrollbars at all (vertical scroll policy is AUTO), and the outer container stretches past the bottom of the screen, causing the entire app to get scrollbars. I have the following scenario: I create an HBox with a width of 1000000px (one million pixels of width). this big HBox is contained inside another small HBox that has a width of 1000 px

Inside this big HBox I create a bitmapFill of a simple image, its just a pattern of lines the problem is that the scrollBar of the small hbox doesnt work well, it just stops halfway, the thumb of the scrollbar keeps going, but the scrolling stops and the end of the big hbox is not beign reached. I'm new to Flash Builder 4 and Actionscript 3 (actually, to programming as a whole beyond some very simplistic stuff). I have watched / read a bunch of tutorials, and started a project but now seem to have hit a wall. The answer is most likely simple, but seems to be alluding me.
How do I (or What approach should I take) to control visual elements, for instance, BorderContainer's, that I created dynamically?
As is, I have an Application containing a BorderContainer and a DataGrid. At runtime, 3 new BorderContainers (which are dragable, and resizeable) are created based on XML data that contains X & Y co-ordinates, and Height and Width values, and then added to the pre-existing BorderContainer. How would I go about getting the properties of these children BorderContainers to be displayed and remain up-to-date in the DataGrid (such as when they are moved/resized)?

Is there a way to link two Scroller containers in Adobe Flex? As in, when one scroller is modified, the same modifications will be reflected in a second scrolling container?What I am trying to do is have an image and label on different areas of the screen that are swipable, and when they are swiped/changed I want the same change to be reflected in the other Scroller container.

My problem is pretty simple: Flex containers do layout based on un-transformed children, and so rotated children are positioned as if there were no rotation, but then they're rotated around the top-left of that position. I've attached an image to show what I mean. Can I wrap the components in something? Or do I have to resort to custom components or fixed layouts? Here the expected behaviour is width of the panel should be 300 since the minWidth > width,but the panel width is 200.I dont understand where i have went wrong.

I have a VBox, I assigned a handler to click, and inside the VBox I have components such as images and texts with no handler assigned for click. Would the click function be called when I click on the text and image? If not how can I make it so without assigning handlers individually, but on the container level?

I generate panels dynamically and put them in other states in that way so in one state you have a list of panels on the left and one big panel on the right for example in one state and when you click on the list on the left (with small panels) that panels takes the places of the big panel and the big one goes back in the place. So I have 50 panels on the left and i want to scroll them down but I don't want to big panel to go down with them I want it fixed. this is where I got and I don't know how to do that here is my code:

I have a custom component ExpandCollapseMenu that extends SkinnableContainer.This component can have state "normal" or "expanded".Inside this component I have buttons, with different skin based on ExpandCollapseMenu's state.This works fine when defining the buttons inside ExpandCollapsMenu's skin class:

I'm trying to use the delete keyword to remove nodes from an xml file and it just plain won't work.Here's a stripped down example of what I'm working with. Every node has a child named "deleteme". If its value is equal to 1 I want to remove it from the xml file. If its anything else I want to leave it be. The delete method is deffinately gettig call but it's having no effect.

I am working on a grid example in flex using advanced grid control. I know we can easily group data by specifying the field name. At the group node level, other than the gorup name I want to be able to show data in the rest of the cells ( calculated data ) and I am looking for some dataRowBound event or similar to be able to hook some data in it.
Example: Grid displaying list of towns grouped by state. At the group level ( for each state) I want to show the total number of towns in each state. Here how can i show the total number in the town column.

I am in a situation where user gets the cars data from the database based on the selection and displays it in datagrid like below ( for example)
Company Model Year No
GM Chevy 2010 10
GM Chevy 2009 5
GM Pontiac 2010 12
Honda Civic 2009 12
and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?

I would expect the mask to be applied when the checkbox is selected, and removed when it issin't. But it doesn't seem to work.However, when you change to , it works like a charm. Can anyone explain to me why?
Note: In my actual application, i'm applying this in a skin to a component that is extending SkinnableComponent which can't use BorderContainer so a solution to this would be great.

I've got some MC's in my library that have radiobuttons in them -- all of this created at design time -- and pull them onto the stage dynamically. My question is how do I get the selectedData from the group? The setup is like this: In a MC called pageOne, I have a group of buttons with a group name of Q1, Q2, etc. I pull the MC onto the stage like this:

I have a DataGrid with info like this:

Repeating the name and amount gets redundant so I would like it to look something like this:
Associate Amount
John Doe 2
Bill Ace 1
Then when you select one, it expands to show the times and customers for the selected associate. I hope this makes sense...I am currently just using a DataGrid but I can use an AdvancedDataGrid if thats needed...I am pretty sure something like this can be done, I just don't know how.My data is in xml and looks like this:

I have a Group that I want to do a wipe effect when it shows and hides.

The group is being hidden and shown on change of the group's visibility, but the effect doesn't do anything. When I set the visibility to false, it takes 4 secs for it to hide (delay+duration), but again, no effect.

I am trying to automatically resize the children within an s:Group. The children are another s:Group and a H:Group. Each have a percentage width of 10% and 90% each. The problem is that when one of the groups is resized (using a transition and rotation combination in the Skin), the other group does not automatically resize to fill the space?
Shouldn't Flex do this automatically? or do I have to code this?

I have a SkinnableContainer class called: 'GroupNavCustomContainer' that uses a skinClass called 'GroupNavCustomSkin'. The GroupNavCustomSkin is the default one Flex creates for you: (The default skin class for a Spark SkinnableContainer container). Now, I have to add buttons to the GroupNavCustomContainer dynamically from outside the class which is not a problem. However, I can't seem to figure out out to make my skin behave as a HGroup so the buttons are spaced evenly. I tried: modifying the Group container to no avail:

In Flex, sometimes when you need to clear a form you run into the problem that radio button groups seem to defy clearing: try as you might, setting selected=false on all buttons, setting selection=null on the group, doing both, doing them twice, etc., you always seem to end up with one pesky little radio button that's still selected. How do you solve this and restore the radio button group to its initial no-selection state?

I'm trying to use XML to convert the code that a Flex RTE creates to valid HTML. No problems on other HTML elements, but difficulty with unordered lists. I created a solution for moving consecutive LIs into a UL node. After trial and error, I came up with the following solution. My question is - surely there's a better way to do this?
