I'm writing a MVC web app in ASP.NET MVC, which is supposed to be serving up a Flash object written by one of my colleagues. I don't know any Flash; he doesn't know any C#/ASP.NET; hence the question goes to SO!

Flash app I've built works fine on desktop and on IIS6, but when I upload to IIS7+ it breaks.Most of the app appears to work as expected but a crucial test fails. I think it's a custom event that is failing, but I've no idea why when it works perfectly everywhere else.My app is built with Flash CS5 and AS3 for Flash player 10.BTW it's not a MIME type issue.
View 1 RepliesWhen i first load the page the flash container div is set to display:none, i then apply some jQuery to .fadeIn() and set the div heigth and width size. Fine. But within this div i embed the flash object this way:

Basically the issue is that I need to use the old flash object only for firefox as otherwise by using the iframe method form vimeo I'd get random black screen for the video, the solution is to use the flash object, only for firefox but for some reasons I don't get the video displayed while i can see the object in the DOM.
I have a bit of a memory leak issue in my Flex application, and the short version of my question is: is there any way (in AcitonScript 3) to find all live references to a given object? What I have is a number of views with presentation models behind each of them (using Swiz). The views of interest are children of a TabNavigator, so when I close the tab, the view is removed from the stage. When the view is removed from the stage, Swiz sets the model reference in the view to null, as it should. I also removeAllChildren() from the view.
However when profiling the application, when I do this and run a GC, neither the view nor the presentation model are freed (though both set their references to each other to null). One model object used by the view (not a presenter, though) IS freed, so it's not completely broken. I've only just started profiling today (firmly believing in not optimising too early), so I imagine there's some kind of reference floating around somewhere, but I can't see where, and what would be super helpful would be the ability to debug and see a list of objects that reference the target object. Is this at all possible, and if not natively, is there some light-weight way to code this into future apps for debugging purposes?
I have a flash object embedded in my website with the embed code that I got from a website. It does not show up in Safari, it's just a blank area where the flash object is supposed to be. What can I do to get the object to show up in Safari?

I'm trying to retrieve values that are embedded in the object tag on the HTML page. Is this possible? I've been trying to find how to do this, but all hits point out to how to embed flash in HTML and rarely do I find on which tells me how to retrieve data from HTML into flash.

I have fms 3.5 installed, i did not install Apache because i already have iis7 running. how do i configure fms with iis7 to allow for http tunneling/streaming when rtmp is blocked?
View 3 RepliesI have 2 identical ASP.NET applications, one running on Windows Server 2003 with IIS6 and another running on Windows Server 2008 with IIS7.
The one on IIS6 runs perfectly, but on IIS7 I'm unable to seek while playing my video. They are both using the exact same HTTP-handler for streaming.
I'm using the JW player for Flash (v. 5.2) and Sorenson Squeeze 6 for converting the videos from .mpg to flv. The FLV stream-handler is very (but not completely) similar to the one on this site

If I send a request with NO xml, it works just fine. But as soon as I add xml to the flash XML object it fails. To illustrate this I made to simple scenarios, both of them hitting the following C# code:

I have absolutely NO IDEA what could be causing this. I've checked my IIS logs and I can see that it's returning 500 errors.
Most curiously is I can't get it to hit a breakpoint in the ASP.Net code when it fails. Even after reboots.
Has anybody experience to install FMS 3.+ Apache on the same machine with IIS7. Our business department decided to save some money on hardware and we have to install FMS on production, where we have already hostted ASP.NET WebSite. We have to do steaming video on our ASP.NET pages. I think to configure FMS on ports 1925,6000 instead of 1925,80. Will it be ok for Apache? Actually, I tested the installation with this configuration on our testing enviroment and it works, but the funny thing is that I can put rtmp://111.111.111.111/vod/sample.flv works (without port 6000). Is it correct behavior?

Two days ago I managed to create XML based gallery the problem is I want to create a menu OVER the gallery the issue is when I create an object and place it over the gallery it actually displayes it underneath the gallery.

I am trying to display the duration/position of one of the sound objects in the mixer (all sounds in the mixer have the same length). The swf works fine but the loader doesn't work with it. I worked out that it was because I used "stage" in the eventlisteners of the SWF file but if I remove these the game keys don't work, but the loader does.
So out of all the browsers I have access to IE9 is displaying old-style object embedded Flash code at left:0; top:0; All other browsers, including IE 8 have no issues at all.

I have to decide whether I should choose a Flash or a HTML5 presentation tier third party application for displaying virtual tours. The thing is: The Flash app is better, but doesn't work one iPad. Which do you think I should go for? Flash, high quality or HTML5, a little worst quality?
View 3 RepliesI embedded a flash (.flv) file in html page via dreamweaver cs4. the page displays the flash locally, and also remotely if i remote desktop and view. However when I launch the website via live url all i get is a blank white box where the flash content should be. I've checked permissions via flash security settings, and can't seem to make it work. I believe the code is valid or it wouldnt play on the local and remote desktops.

We have an ASP.NET 4 website that displays flash files. It has come to our attention that these are not fully supported on HTML5, and that they will not play on HTML5 platforms such as the iPad.So, in order to support such platforms, my thinking is that we need to try and display the video using the HTML5 <video> tag if the browser supports HTML5, or fall back to flash if it does not.However, it would seem that this requires our site to provide two video formats (flash format and video such as MP4). That presents problems because A), we need to store multiple video formats on the site, and B) our existing flash data will no longer work.Can anyone recommend information about the best way to support as many platforms as possible. And is there any way to do so without having to support multiple video formats?

I am aware that this is likely not possible as Flash cannot interpret anything other than HTML in regards to display? I have two images attached from a site called WidgetBucks that seems to have a solution. The first, is the dialog box where you input your site. It must then somehow take a snapshot of that site and then display it in Flash? How can Flash take a snapshot of a URL and then stick it in a clip on the stage?
