Flash :: Blocking Clicks In An External SWF?

I have a first SWF, the interface, which loads external SWFs, the pages, throughattachMovie. The pages themselves contain clickable buttons. What I am trying to do is enable and disable the buttons on the pages, without altering the code of the pages. I can only change the contents of the interface.I have tried using a blocker, a movieclip with :
onrelease = function() {};
onpress = function() {};
useHandCursor = false;

I've made a flex 3 app that is sitting on my web server. People will be able to link to this flex app on my web server on their own sites/blogs/forums and so on. Is there any way I can log where a user that clicks on it comes from? Example: the URL to the flex app is [URL] User A links the flex app at his blog at [URL] Then User B comes in to User A's blog and clicks the flex app and finally ends up at my site. Any way I can log User B's click through the flex app?

I have to make a presentation which consists of a main.swf that loads 5 external swfs. You pass from one swf to another by doing click. The external swfs (2 of them) have a tween in which you do click to load some shapes.How do I stop the click in the main swf and activate the click in the external swf and then return to the main.In the function "myClick" there is a condition which when it gets to the 3.swf (num==2), it stops the clicks in the main.swf bystage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, myClick). It works, but I don't know how to return the clicks to the main.swf after the last click in 3.swf.

I'm using the loadMovie command to load an external swf (a brief tutorial) into the parent swf. The parent swf is an interactive exercise with several answer buttons. The user can click a button to open and close the turorial on top of the exercise.k the answer buttons in the parent swf below and hear the correct and incorrect sound cues. When they close the tutorial, they see that answers have been given and there's a score when they didn't intentionally give any answers.

I'm building a project that has a character navigate through a room by clicking on the floor. Right now, the walls, character, and floor are all children of the same display object for sorting purposes. My question: is there a way to disable mouse clicks to the walls and character while allowing clicks to the floor? Using mouseChildren appears to be an all or nothing deal and I can't seem to isolate individual floor/wall/character objects for use with mouseEnabled.

I'm working on a simple website for A level ICT and am having some difficulties. My site has a javascript based drop down menu, as well as two .swf files embedded. When the drop down buttons in the menu are scrolled over, the .swf files disappear.index1.jpg is a screenshot of the page normally, index2.jpg is a screenshot when the menu link is scrolled over.I am also having difficulties with flash working with java on another page, the same .swf files do not fade into the background like the rest of the page when images are enlarged in a javascript gallery within the page. gallery.jpg shows this.

I am working on a few websites at the moment, one of the being my online portfolio, as well as my website for a sleep product I am trying to sell. I have very little experience with AS3, last time I created a website AS2 was used. I've tried a few online tutorials, but nothing gets the job done, there is always some error..I have a index.swf which loads the default home.swf.There is also an about.swf, contact.swf, order.swf, and All I need is for the external swf to pull up when the corresponding button is clicked, and when the next button is clicked, for the current swf to unload and the new swf to load. This was so simple with AS2, one would think things might be as simple if not easier.

I just finished creating/testing and uploading a flash file to my media server. However because I wanted it to stay a constant size and centred on peoples screens I embedded the flash file into an html page using dreamweaver. Everything still worked fine except for one function. My contact movie clip (mail_mc) had a getURL function ("mailto:etcetc");

I have a couple of buttons that slide up and down, when in the up state I add an X graphic to symbolize a a close button. However the X graphic seems to be blocking my button action.I have an example in the movie I've been working on >> here <<.There are 2 movies here, the big one if you click either blue tab you will see what I'm talking about, X button shows up, but clicking over the X area will not drop the button down. You have to click on blue button area to drop the button back down.Now I've made a smaller test movie adding the X button basically the same way and if you will notice it works fine (will animate to the right even if you click over the X graphic)Here is my code in the Big movie (I hid the tween code so it won't be so long):

I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

I have a flex application that repeatedly polls a remote XML file to detect changes, but I've found that once the file hits a certain size, the poll blocks the UI and makes the page unresponsive for a short time.
Is there any way to ensure that the call made to the server or the event from the flash.utils.Timer class runs asynchronously to the main UI thread?

I have a website with a flash image viewer. Once user clicks on flash button, I need to give a confirmation modal dialog before saving the file and if user clicks on OK only I have to pop file download dialog. Confirmation dialog with in flash is not an option for me. So I have to invoke JS function to pop a confirmation.Within the site, a custom DHTML confirmation modal dialog is used and it has two JS callback functions one for "OK" and the other for "Cancel" button click event handers. How do you get the information bar to stop blocking the active X control for a flash movie in IE.when I am in fire fox, it just starts the flash movie. Right in the HTML page. But with IE, the info bar at the top pops up, and blocks my flash movie.Then you have to click on it, and say that you want to activate the active X on the page. Is there anyway to stop this from happening. I remember, using IE, that not all flash is blocked, just the stuff that I make.

I searched for this a lot, but I couldn't find a solution for this 'bug' as it's called here:click on first flash, and use mouse wheel, then click on second flash and use mouse wheel again. Now You know perfectly what 'bug' I mean.The thing is, I believe this bug can be solved WITHOUT externalinterface. This chat is made with AS 3:pen 'codebox', hold ENTER to make a hundred of lines or so, and then test your mouse wheel.It doesn't use any externalinterface technique (both obviously as it's Kongregate, and confirmed by author), just mx.component.textArea that itself implements the scrolling nicely.I couldn't achieve that with even.preventDefault or stopPropagation.

I've got a strange thing in attached fla: my gotoAndStop command won't go past a photo?First I've got the 'background' layer. On it is a red rectangle on frame 1 and 2. Frame 3 changes it into a jpg.
On the actions layer I've got a gotoAndStop(4), which should show the photo and trace a command. But it won't get past the red square? It's like the jpg photo blocks the gotoandStop(or Play for that matter) command. It doesn't trace to prove that the gotoAndStop command is executed on frame 4 and it keeps showing the red square on frame 1 and 2. Where it should show the photo which has already been placed on frame 3. when I replace the photo with a normal Flash shape (rectangle e.g.) it works fine.

I am creating a very simple interaction. I have a symbol as a moviclip which I can move around the screen using the arrow keys. I want to block certain parts of the stage so that the movieclip cannot pass into them. For example if I have a fence on the stage I don't want the movieclip to move over the fence I want it to stop when it reaches it. This will keep the user moving in the directions that i want, lead them toward another area of interaction.

I have an animation, when i preview it looks fine, but when i use the timeline to scroll through the animation (and when i export as .avi) - there's this strange white bar over the text! I have tried to remove the object from the library, but then the text disappears (also when i preview)

I'm using Flash 4 and AS2;I've composed the code such that my MC (called hole) will turn slowly upon entering the first frame:

Then, on frame 55 I have:
rotator_mc.removeMovieClip();
to stop the clip. After that, I animated "hole" on the timeline to shrink... but when I play my movie, the timeline animation doesn't happen.

I've been creating a calculator as part of an assignment. I've created button instances in actionscript and then putting a text field over it. The problem is the text field blocks my button so it is difficult to press.exaple code:

I have various buttons on stage that will initiate a popup box upon hover. But some of the pop up boxes are too big and covers some buttons which disables the button.Is there anyway around this? Logically, when a button isn't hovered, its popup box shouldn't cover what's underneath it. I have tried moving the layers around, although this works, but now the buttons are on top of the pop-up boxes which is no good.

I'm trying to use PNGEncoder to encode a bitmapData object into a png ByteArray so I can send the data to the server. Everything would be peachy except the bitmapData is 4000x4000px and when I run the PNGEncoder.encode function on it the whole app stops (UI is blocked) for 5-8 seconds while it runs. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to not make it block so bad, I read about chunking up the process (since you can't multithread in AS3) but can't find any sample code on chunking up the process.

I have a Flash movie that loads an html file with a link that should open a new window when clicked. The problem is that Firefox blocks the new window from opening, and I don't know how to solve it. I've created a client that communicates with a server via XML-RPC through a network using the URLRequest object to contact the server.
When activating the client through flashplayer, explorer or chrome, the xml-rpc messages are sent. When using firefox, for some reason these xml messages are blocked, and are not seen on the server.
What's causing firefox to block xml messages to a remote server and how can I make it work??
