So inside my src folder I have my app.mxml file. I have a source directory pointed to my actionscript library.It appears that Flex does not look inside that source directory including an .as file within the master mxml file.

View 2 RepliesI'm using the same FLVPlayback component to play many page transition videos throughout a large flash site I'm building. On each transition, I'm setting the component's source using myFLVPlayback.source and listening for the fl.video.VideoEvent.READY event before proceeding with each page transition. This works fine as long as the transition between every pair of pages uses a different video.
Unfortunately, I'm running into a problem when the same page-to-page transition video needs to get invoked for two consecutive transitions. When playing the same video twice in a row, setting the source property of the component to the value it already has doesn't seem to do anything, meaning that my listeners for fl.video.VideoEvent.READY never fire. I could do something hackish like setting the source to a tiny, never-used-elsewhere FLV before setting it to the FLV that I'm actually using for the transition as a means of "resetting" the component, but I'd like to know what best practices are in a situation like this (insofar as best practices with something like the FLVPlaybackComponent can be discussed with a straight face).
I've perused the livedocs for the component but came up empty-handed, and manually using NetStream, NetConnection, and Video objects at this late stage isn't really an option.
I've successfully created an FLVPlayback component using the component library and it's playing the streaming video that I want it to. My question is, if that stream is not online or cannot be found, how would I go about displaying a message on the stage to let the user know, there is no active stream.

There's no output still. It seems like the function isn't getting invoked. However, if I place a trace outside the function (before it), I get a response: trace(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS);

I have started a stream from Flash media encoder to flash media server. According to my encoder, it should be located at: "rtmp://localhost/live" and is called livestream.In the Flash software I try and set the source of FLVPlayback component to rtmp://localhost/live/livestream", and I get this error: "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. Source can't be found.". Both the server and encoder is runnind and I am encoding.

View 6 RepliesOur flex project, which works fine in its current environment with coldfusion 7 single server. We moved this project to Coldfusion 8 multi server, and updated the remoteobject paths relative to the web root.
The error we now receive is

The path to the cfc's from the webroot is is myProject/cf/main.cfc ...
File A has a MovieClip on stage that has a linkage to a class in which I import fl.video.FLVPlayback File B also attempts to import fl.video.FLVPlayback.
File B throws a COMPILE TIME error that it cannot locate the definition for fl.video.FLVPlayback. I'm noticing that my FlashDevelop also offers no syntax highlighting for that line.
Both are exporting for the same version of FlashPlayer (10). Both are being authored on the same platform, the same software (CS4).I have not messed with any Publish settings, other than that File B is associated with a Document Class.
Of interest may be that File A will eventually be loaded into File B, into the context of File B.
I have two mx:TileList controls that I'm using to allow editing of objects in batch. The first contains a collection of all available data, and the 2nd contains the current batch. Both are bound to ArrayCollections, and using the native drag-n-drop functionality of the TileList control the data is moved from one ArrayCollection to the other when an object is dragged between them.
I need to change the currentState to show & reset the batch manipulation controls when the batch count goes from 0 to n or n to 0 items. Based on the documentation, I would have thought that I should listen to the dragComplete event, but my testing shows that instead of firing after the data has been removed from the source ArrayCollection and added to the destination ArrayCollection, it fires (consistently) between these two actions.

I'm currently trying to use the FLVPlayback component and pass a source FLV that's living on a cloudfront webserver. The problem is that the cloudfront requires authentication in the form of query strings in the source FLV. For example:[code]It adds on "&FLVPlaybackVersion= 2.1" to the end.I saw a different article that said I should add a dummy variable at the end like "&dummy=.flv" because I was told that Flash is basically looking for an .flv extension at the end and you can trick it, but it doesn't work because they add on additional code.

i have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it
1- deleting on of the linked folder
2- again adding that folder.

I have attached a video on a frame of my website in Flash. When I preview the movie the film plays as it should.But when I export the Fla. as a Swf. file it then doesn't have the movie there anymore?It does show this error:

I really don't know what that refers too.
is it possible to detect if flash is installed using PHP. My aim is, that if it is installed it will play a flv file, and if not it will use another player eg; quicktime?

Update: IsPlaying() looked promising (periodically checking it), but as it turns out, nobody is creating straight forward swfs any more; now, the content is embedded in main layer and while the content plays, the main movie is stopped and IsPlaying is always false...
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a air-hockey game, in flash using AS3.At the moment, I am using an enter frame function to check the positioning of the 3 objects, 2 paddles and a ball, then it checks to see if they are in contact, if they are it then initiates a detect collision function.However it's checking every time the frame is loaded, and at 25 fps, this is quite a lot and the app lags.

So I would like to show text when "Right" click is detected and the same for a Left click. This at first seemed an easy project but the right mouse detection has got me baffled.

Is there a way to have the swf see what is containing it (browser, exe shell, my hand, your hand...) and if it is contained by the exe shell it will call fscommands, otherwise it wont? The exe isn't finished yet, and I'd like to test my swf without it giving me security errors. I'd also like to be able to show my boss the swf in as few clicks as possible

View 4 RepliesI have created some flash banner ads for a client to put into his own website, which he can edit himself using a third party piece of software (is it Blue Martini??... or something like that). I have published my banners for player 8, and normally this is fine when used within a dreamweaver html page, in that if someone doesn't have the right version of player, they are prompted to download the latest version using javascript. Thing is, this isn't happening with the site my banners are going into, and people with version 7 player are missing elements of the banner!! I'm thinking its because of the way the swf is placed into the site??? Is there a way I can control the detection and direct to a download within my flash file only? with actionscript??

View 2 RepliesI have a flash game that asks the user to enter his username & password then he can start playing the game. After that the score gets saved to MySQL next to his username & password. The final step is to display his scores in the flash game. Everything works fine except for the last step which is calling back the scores from MySQL to the flash game.
I call the scores from MySQL using PHP file which sends the data to flash through XML. I can call the data from MySQL & display it in flash BUT I should enter a specific user name manually in the PHP file. The problem is that I can't make the flash game display the scores of the logged in user. for example: User A signs-in, plays the game, his/her score gets saved & then the problem occurs calling back his/her scores to the flash. In order to display User A scores in the Flash , I should replace the $username variable in the PHP file with "User A" so the scores can be displayed in the Flash file.
