I've got a MovieClip that gets positioned in respect of the stage.stageWidth/stage.stageHeight which works completely fine in the stand-alone Flash Player, however when embedded into a webpage with the "showAll" param it gets cropped. Is anyone aware of some sort of issue with stageWidth not being updated when using the scale param in the embed code?
View 1 RepliesI'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

View 2 RepliesI have dynamic flash content embedded into a Facebook fanpage. The flash file consists of an interactive environment where the mouse icon is substituted with a "flashlight" (i.e.spot of light), and the user "looks" around the dark room, lighting up the different areas with the light. When the light passes over certain areas (invisible buttons), specific "effects" are triggered and an animation ensues, along with an accompanying sound effect.It works great on the original webpage! But the Facebook page has some issues:1) The embedded flash file loads relatively slowly. I can deal with this, but the next issue is what is frustrating;
2) Everything works initially. The "flashlight" works. The background audio works. When the effects are triggered, the accompanying SOUND EFFECT works, but not the animation. After this, none of the effects will trigger. If I refresh the page, and let it load again, then everything will work.This is very frustrating, I can provide a link, if need be (I've had a somewhat similar problem on a website I designed with certain things loading a times, but not at others.
I have a Flash Player ActiveX control embedded in a .NET WinForms application and am trying to load a SWF into the FP control over an HTTPS url. In development I'm using a self-signed certificate and it seems that in this scenario I can't get FP to accept the certificate and allow the HTTPS communications.When I try to load the swf over https directly, I don't see the swf and when I right-click on the control I see "Movie not loaded". I can load the swf over http and then try to make Flash Remoting calls over https. I don't expect this to work by default but I added a crossdomain.xml file to allow insecure communications. The crossdomain.xml file is in the root of the server but is not loaded. I added an explicit call to loadPolicyFile with the full https url and the crossdomain.xml file is still not loaded. The local IIS logs don't show any request for the file at all, nothing in the HTTPERR file, and Flash's policyfiles.txt log says URl...If I host the swf in a browser, then the browser prompts to accept the certificate and everything works fine. I've accepted the certificate in IE and Firefox.I also tried calling DisableLocalSecurity() on the FP ActiveX control but it had no effect. I didn't really expect it to since I'm not actually loading the swf locally, it's loaded from a url.Can anyone confirm if the self-signed cert really is the problem? Is there a way to get FP to accept the certificate? Any way to bypass the http/https restriction (this is a locally installed app so I can change any local config files we need)?
View 1 RepliesI've been working on a project that requires lots of scaling around a center point.
I always thought that stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight give you the dimensions of the stage you set in the properties panel no matter what. But when I went into fullscreen mode (with scaling), both the width and the height changed to the dimensions of the screen rather than staying the dimensions I specified.
I created a simple program that displays the current time on the screen.
When I embed this object on a web page, it takes the whole screen leaving a lot of blank space. To avoid this I tried setting the height and width using two methods:
1) I did <embed src="time.swf" **height="100"** **width="100"**>
2) I tried stage.scaleX=.5;
stage.scaleY=.5;
But both of these solutions also decrease the size of my text.
So, my question is that is there a way to decrease the dimensions of the swf file, without scaling the text and other components in flash
I'm starting with AS3, i have a problem. I have a button, and inside the button i have a dynamic text field. The button is inside of a movieclip, the instance name of it is News, the instance name of the button is collegamento and the instance name of the dynamic text is Testo. So knowing this I'm triyng to change the content of the text using:
News.collegamento.Testo.htmlText="text here";
But Flash is giving me this error:

I created an ajax jQuery featured content slider that will automatically navigate through each tab. Each tab has some basic html. The one I used is this one: [URL]. For some reason, when I embed a flash video in it, the flash video overflows the div. It looks fine in Chrome and Safari but not the latest version of Firefox (3.6) on the PC. Is it not handling overflow or z-indexes correctly?

It works fine with Safari on MACOSX.My flash size is: 1440x750It looks like Firefox can't recognize stage.StageWidth and stage.StageHeight. It returns 0.Some suggest implementing was to pass in the actual width and height of movie via FlashVars. The movie uses these instead of stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeightDoes anyone have an example of code of how to fix that issue??

I have a full-windowed SWF running in Firefox3.6.Reading stage.stageWidth should follow the size of the browser's window, but that's not the case with Firefox! The minimum stage.stageWidth I get is 925, even if I make the Firefox window much smaller than that.stage. stageHeight seems to work fine though.This is because the (my?) Menu Bar won't go below 925 pixels wide. The problem is solved if I hide the Menu Bar!
This problem only appears on Firefox. Anyone knows if there is a work around? I can't ask users visiting my site to turn their menu bar off in order to see it correctly.
Well everything was going well until I tested my project in a browser (embeded using SWFObject if that matters). After all the troubleshooting, it turns out that the stageWidth/Height values were just 0 which threw off the whole thing. Working on personal full flash site and I can't really figure out how to make MC's position on Stage aligned on Firefox browser. Everything goes fine using Safari.
I have tried a method of set a timer every time it goes off (every 200 ms or so) it checks to see if stage.stageWidth > 0. If that is the case, do stop the timer and start resize on stage. However it's still not working on Firefox of MAC. :(

I am creating a android app using adobe air (flex sdk 4.6.0) and i am trying to find out what the width of the phone screen is in pixels. So I am fallowing the tutorial here but when ever i copy the code into my project and click run it always gives me this error "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." and goes to the line that has stage.stageWidth I have also tried stage.width but it does the same thing. So does stage.stageWidth no longer work or how do you tell the screen size of the tablet or phone? Was it replaced with something else for phones? I am trying to get the information so i can center images in the center of the screen using action script.[code]

I have made a movie clip which I export to ActionScript 3.
In this movie clip I have drawn a text field (area? well TEXT) using the plain "Text Tool".
After selecting the text, and after I have entered "0" to be displayed, I edit its properties. It's Instance Name, defined at the very top of the list I have written "score". The text engine is TLF Text and the text type "Read only".
When I have made a instance of the movie clip using AS3 I can't get the value of the text instance named "score" - when calling something like trace(getChildByName("score")) in the constructor I just get null.
I want to be able to get the value of the text "score", and I would also like to change its value.
Just how do I get the value from ActionScript? I don't want to have to create the text progamatically and position it, and I doubt that I have to.
I'm making some ads that are pulling in an mxl feed that had html embedded. I'm working with flash CS5. I'm pulling the text into a dynamic text field embedded into a mc. So at first I was pulling in my feed and anything with a bold tag or a heading tag wasn't rendering the text correctly when I had arial embedded so I had to unembed all fonts. Wasn't the prettiest but was working. So now that ads are published and on certain people's computers the text loading into the text boxes are either cut off or there is extra room. So I'm wondering can dynamic text being loaded into flash be effected by the system fonts in a browser or a zoom in feature of a browser? I cant see how the but that seems to be the problem.

In the end some of the thing that I want to change would be width, height and a parameters src value.
