Flash :: Looking For Open Source Image Rotator / Tools To Create One?

Nov 9, 2009

I want to put a flash banner(slider) to show a bunch of products iteratively. And I want it to allow interaction so the user can interrupt image looping and choose what she wants to see and what images to show how long it will be shown should be configurable. I already googled for 'flashe banner / slider' but with no luck. Is there any open source projects that can offer this kind of feature? Or tools that can help me to create one.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Image Rotator In Flash That Is Powered By XML

Jan 18, 2011

I'm trying to create an image rotator in flash that is powered by XML that just continually rotates through the images (fading into an image and fading out, and then fading into the next image, etc).I've managed to load the XML file and get the location of the image files for each image:[code]and I've managed to load the last image in the XML into a movieclip by putting this line:imageHolder.loadMovie(myImage[i].attributes.image); under the var imageURL = myImage[i].attributes.image line.I can't work out how to:

1. Display one image at a time instead of just the last image in the XML file

2. Fade in and out between each images (I was trying to use Tweenlite to do this and think I can get it to work once I know how to do the above point)

3. How to continually repeat through all the images.

Create An Image Rotator?

Jun 5, 2009

I want to create an image rotator that looks similar to the one in the upper RHS of joinred dot com. I'd like it to have images that are a bit bigger than the one on that site. However, I like the thing about them coming in from the right, as well as the effect, being a bit distorted and then becoming clear.

Actionscript 3 :: Tools For Flash-based Image Manipulation?

Jan 4, 2010

I'm building a Flash app (as3) that allows users to embed photos of themselves in a scene--think carnival-style cutouts (or faceInHole). I like the interface design for image manipulation at FaceInHole, which puts anchor points and a skeleton around the boundaries of the uploaded image and lets users drag the image to change its position, resize it by dragging corners, rotate it, etc, similar to the free transform tool in photoshop.

Originally, I was planning on building the application with an interface that just used buttons in a control console to manipulate things like position, rotation, etc, but I find the FaceInHole approach more intuitive.I have two questions:

a) Will most users find the in-place skeletal manipulation tool more convenient than the button-based tool, or do I just find it easier because I'm used to things like Flash and Photoshop that use a similar interface?

b) Are you aware of any good open source classes / libraries that contain a solid implementation of the photoshop-style free-transform image manipulation interface?

Possible To Develop Flash Application Using Only Open Source?

Nov 27, 2010

I want to create a Flash application but I do not want to pay the $700 for Flash Professional CS5 (neither to pirate it). I have been looking at previous questions here in SO and around the net for hints of free software allowing to develop flash apps.

From my current research, it seems the tools I need are:
1. FlashDevelop or similar to create and compile ActionScript code.
2. Pencil, Synfig or similar to create animation (is it possible to export to fla?
3. ?? to put everything together and compile a swf file.

My question is whether anyone has successfully followed a similar path to build a flash application using only open source. And better yet, any good web site with documentation on how to tackle such a task. I have looked at the Open Source Flash Projects page which contains a comprehensive list of flash related open-source projects and libraries...

Open Source Video Chat Server Not Using Flash

Apr 18, 2011

Reading "Building the realtime user experience" by Ted Roden, I was wondering how to go further and get some video chat web app up and running without the use of flash.

So, in terms of feasibility:

client-side: how can one access to cam and mic local streams not using flash ?
server-side: are there any existing frameworks or open source servers (something like red5) that focus on this kind of use cases ? If not, what do I need to build my own (lightweight) visio chat server ?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Open-source Flash 3D Engine Comparison?

Mar 26, 2009

For some reason, I'm having a hard time finding a recent, side-by-side comparison of the various pros and cons of the different open-source flash 3D engines, such as Papervision3D, Away3D, and Sandy3D. Specifically, I'm looking for comparisons in the areas of

ease of use (and documentation) performance (framerate with lots of polygons) stability (bugs, glitches, graphical artifacts) currency (for lack of a better word - is the project gaining or losing team and community members?)

language(s) used (is it in as2, as3, flash-player-10 as3?) features (lighting and shadows, import models and animations of various formats, click detection, collision detection)

This is reasonable, right? I don't want to essentially pick one at random, only to find myself in trouble later on. Working with papervision3D, I'm already frustrated by the documentation, or the in-name-only nature thereof - most functions only have headers listed and no descriptions of what they do. Personally, I like to be able to pour through the documentation and figure out how to do whatever I want, and I feel like I'm fumbling around in the dark, having to read the source and try to understand all the implementation details. Who's used multiple open-source flash 3D platforms?

Javascript :: Free Web Based Open Source Flash Player?

I just need a flash player with a basic javascript api that is truly free. I have been googling for hours and nothing so far.

It would be a huge plus if someone knows of a chromeless youtube player that uses the youtube as3 api. I don't have time right now to code an entire chromeless player complete with all the controls and a progress bar.
