Actionscript 3 :: Tools For Flash-based Image Manipulation?

Jan 4, 2010

I'm building a Flash app (as3) that allows users to embed photos of themselves in a scene--think carnival-style cutouts (or faceInHole). I like the interface design for image manipulation at FaceInHole, which puts anchor points and a skeleton around the boundaries of the uploaded image and lets users drag the image to change its position, resize it by dragging corners, rotate it, etc, similar to the free transform tool in photoshop.

Originally, I was planning on building the application with an interface that just used buttons in a control console to manipulate things like position, rotation, etc, but I find the FaceInHole approach more intuitive.I have two questions:

a) Will most users find the in-place skeletal manipulation tool more convenient than the button-based tool, or do I just find it easier because I'm used to things like Flash and Photoshop that use a similar interface?

b) Are you aware of any good open source classes / libraries that contain a solid implementation of the photoshop-style free-transform image manipulation interface?

And I want it to allow interaction so the user can interrupt image looping and choose what she wants to see and what images to show how long it will be shown should be configurable. I already googled for 'flashe banner / slider' but with no luck. Is there any open source projects that can offer this kind of feature? Or tools that can help me to create one.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Manipulation - To Tuck Pants Into Boots ?

Jun 9, 2011

this one seems to be too tough for me. Usually i at least know in which  direction i have to search for but this one is beyond my imagination.I  need to make kind of dress up shop where you can add clothes to a model  to see how the clothes look like. The hard part is, it should be  possible to tuck pants into boots or put one apparel over another. And  since the bottom apparel can be bigger than the top one i have to cut out the pixels around the top apparel. If  you rollover the pants on the left you see that the image is actually  bigger than the boots but is cut and curved "into the boots"And if you rollover over the "Mango top" you see that it is also much bigger than the top jacket.

tstanding but also still keep the parts that are going out of the sleeves and on the bottom. All data and images are loaded  on demand of course and there are no specified masks or tricks for that,  so looks like everything is calculated and processed ynamically.Defining  special masks for each item is not an option either because there might be hundreds of apparels and thousands of combinations. So do anyone have some ideas how to approach this ? How the heck do they do this ? How to detect the areas where one apparel goes into another and cut out the rest ?

Flex :: Undo, Redo Functionality With Image Manipulation?

Jan 21, 2010

Loads an image to an Image component Transform the image (rotate, flip) with the Matrix Apply filter(s)

Now I am thinking about to create some undo redo functionality. Each time I do a transformation / add an filter I want to be able to go back to the previous image (before the action).

My thought is to have an Array and add the previous bitmap to the stack. But I see that there are some differences between transformations and filters I have also seen the ImageSnapshot and whot i can do and it looks like what I am after.

Flex :: Image Manipulation - Which Prefer For Function's Input?

Jul 22, 2011

I am in this situation where i need to select a Flex's type(image placeholder/image type/image container) for passing parameters in/out of different functions in an image editor. And, those different functions are either another image-manipulation/processing function or a function that display/render the image in a display component.

For example, I will ask other teammates to create a function that processes an image (possibly piped from other image processing functions, too), (let it be fancy or basic image processing from changing colors, to scaling, to segmentation etc.Which of the two would you pick for passing in/out different functions? Display Object or bitmapData, and why(reusability, performance, standard practice etc)?

Text To Image Mouseover On A Flash Based Website

Jul 25, 2009

I've done my fair bit of HTML coding and work fairly well with CSS but i've never ever done a mouseover in flash.. Now, the website's text, all of it, is simply located on a text.txt file that the flash file reads and incorporates onto the website.. All text and images come from this text file. This is what I want to do.

Click on Enter site, then when it loads, click on the "Selling" tab at the top of the site. On the "My Listings" section is where I want to have the mouseover text and the "Market Analytics" section (which we'll be renaming) is where we'd like the image to actually appear. My question to you is can this be done within this environment and how so?

I can edit JavaScript somewhat, though its been a while.

Javascript :: Create Image Based Off A SWF (flash) Element On The Page?

Jul 14, 2010

Is there anyway to take take a "screenshot", "save" or "capture" the active SWF element on a page as an image? I'd like for users to be able to simply click a button on my page, instead of having to need to manually take a screenshot of the entire page and then crop the image to show only the SWF element.I found a Jquery method, although I am unsure if it could work with SWF files. It basically captures an area of an Image element on the page and allows you to save that as a separate image. What I would need however, is to capture the SWF as the image instead. Note: I do not have access to the SWF code so I cannot achieve this using Actionscript or anything like that

Tools - Screensaver With Flash Running On Win And Mac?

Aug 1, 2011

I was asked to create a screensaver capable to run on both win and mac. I am ActionScript developer, so I prefer to solve this using Flash/SWF. I know this is possible using several tools:Projectors such as Zinc or SWF Studio (os independent, $$$)Converters creating screensavers that use the Flash Player (one converter per os necessary, requires Flash Player on user machine, freeware)Adobe Air created screensavers (os independent, requires Air on user machine, no costs)I do not have control over the machines the screensaver will run. So everything needs to be simple and safe. I would go for option 2, but I am not sure if the tools I discovered are reliable. What tool you recommend to create the screensaver descibed using existing SWF files? Is there another (single) tool to create the screensaver without using Flash/AS/SWF?

Professional :: Flash CS4 Crashing When Scrubbing Playhead Or Using Certain Tools

Nov 17, 2010

I am currently having the unfortunate experience of learning Flash Pro as part of my degree program at school. I have been having a problem with the program crashing repeatedly. I have CS4 Web Premium, an educational discount edition, and am using it on an HP pc with an AMD Athlon and Nvidia v-card. I have had problems with it crashing on this computer when using tools such as the deco-tool and sometimes when transforming something. The real problem is when I try to use one of the Dell pc's at school to work on a file I have created at home on the HP. On 4 different machines at school Flash will crash when working on one of these files, especially when scrubbing the playhead on the timeline. The program will crash over and over, to the point where I can't really work on these files at school, which is a huge waste of time.

Professional :: Can't Manipulate Symbols With Flash CS5 3-D Rotation Tools

Jan 27, 2011

I am just learning to use Flash CS5 Professional (aided by the "Flash Basics" tutorials of Lynda.com). I am presently trying to manipulate symbols as motion-tweens with the 3-D rotation tool found in the Flash toolbar. At the moment I'm trying to take a single word originally created as text, now a symbol, and animate it with motion-tweens so that it appears to be twirling on its x axis or y axis as though it's tumbling through the air like a coin.My trouble is that I can successfully get the symbol to motion-tween itself through one half of a single rotation. But nothing I try seems to work to have the symbol complete its rotation all the way around without the symbol wanting to suddenly flip and rotate in the other direction to complete the full 360 degree rotation. Every trick I use, the symbol wants to tween back the way it came to finish its rotation. This is happening whether I try to rotate type as a symbol, or whether I use other objects (rectangles, ovals, etc.) I've created and then converted to symbols and then movie clips (which I have done in all cases). No matter what I try, this program is not cooperating. What am I doing wrong. My Flash CS5 often behaves as if it's buggy (I'm running it on a brand new state of the art iMac, with the latest version of Snow Leopard as my OS). But even with all it's other little bugs, restarting Flash doesn't seem to clear up this mystery.

Flash :: Cross-platform Application Development Tools?

Sep 27, 2011

I have an application I built in Flash that runs with no problems on Windows and OSX. I'd like to extend it to mobile platforms and I want to be able to call programs written in the native language of each platform.

I understand that Flex can be used on mobile platforms and that it can call native code, but I'm a little confused by what I've read about Flex. Can I use the Adobe Flash development environment to build Flex applications? Will our users need the Adobe Air runtime to run the programs? And what the heck does Air add to the capabilities? We need strong audio and video capabilities, a built-in database is not a requirement.

Flash :: Difference Between Different String Tools (Violin / Cello / Bass)

May 27, 2011

I am trying to visualise in flash midi file (using an external midi-to-flash library)Is there a way to tell the difference between Violin, Viola, Cello & Contrabass in a midi file. I get these values for instruments (ignore the numbers):

1-Flute 13

2-Oboe 15

3-Clarinet 14

4-Bassoon 16

5-French Horn 18

6-Trumpet 17

7-Timpani 26

8-String Ensemble 1 3

9-String Ensemble 1 3

10-String Ensemble 1 3

11-String Ensemble 1 3

12-String Ensemble 1 3

13-Acoustic Grand Piano 5

14-Acoustic Grand Piano 5

15-Acoustic Grand Piano 5

16-Acoustic Grand Piano 5

As you can see, all the strings get the same "String Ensemble" value..one way to do it is to ask for each note if it is high (65>) or low (50<) etc and by that deciding roughly the instrument type (for a specific note). but since these values are random and not accurate - that doesn't seperate them right (especially since diffrent tools still have shared note height values). Is it written (cello, violin...) somewhere in the midi file?
Is there a way to assume it?I have 5 tracks of strings. is it possible to assume (for example) that the first 2 are violins, 3rd is Cello etc? or they are all mixed?

Flash :: Web Based Visual Programming Interface Based On Python For Data Visualization

Nov 4, 2011

I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window. This brings me to the questions:

-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project

-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare

The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking. How would the python backend integrate with the UI.

Professional :: Convert A JQuery Lightbox Style Gallery Into A Flash XML Based Image Gallery With Categories?

Oct 26, 2010

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.

This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;

- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)

- a few buttons for categories

- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button

- preloader (simple bar)

Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
