View 4 RepliesI'm trying to create a Flex application that can automatically shrink based on the size of the components that it contains, so that a user can shrink it to a minimal view to see more of the HTML page it's embedded in.
I know how to change the size of the whole application using ExternalInterface, but I'm having trouble automatically figuring out how much the size changed when something is hidden or shown.
For example:
Let's say I have the following flex layout:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical">
<mx:VBox width="100%" paddingTop="0" paddingBottom="0"
[Code]....
How can I hide one of the text fields and cause the VBox to shrink? I'm currently setting it to visible = false, but that doesn't seem to affect the parent VBox.
Once the VBox shrinks, how can I detect that the Application no longer needs so much space, and then go about figuring out how much less space it needs?
I've tried using ResizeEvent, but I haven't been able to get them to work, but I could be doing something wrong.
Making an Flex App. Just wondering if anyone has created something that fits automatically to the users' screen size and how I go about doing this? One of the principle things is that I need an background image, which is obviously going to have to scale / resize to match the users screen.
View 1 Repliesi have this code that loads my large images on my site but it does not reduce them it shows the image with original resol only so if the user looks an image that's resol is 1600*1200 and their own screen resol is 1024*768 then they cannot see the images all part. so what i want is to implement a "reduce to best fit if their screen resol is lesser then the image resol" feature for this code. this is the code that loads the large movieclip
Code:
var mcl2:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var mcl_listener2:Object = new Object();
mcl2.addListener(mcl_listener2);

I am developing a flash based website using mxml. My monitor's resolution is 1280x768 and is widescreen. The problem is while it appears properly in my screen it doesn't appear properly in others.
-Let scrollbars take care of it : If the screen is 14 inch screen with 800x600 resolution it appears zoomed in. So that's a problem
-Get screen resolution and resize using scaleX and scaleY : The graphic components will get resized but fonts give problem.
im trying to make my flash website full screen inside the users browser, is there any way of doing this to the flash file inside the index file? Ive found it hard to find this info online as i dont mean properly full screen, just full screen inside the browser.

View 2 RepliesI have a website with a large .swf file. However when people with smaller screens view the website, I would like the .swf (which takes up the entire screen) to resize to fit on exactly. Just like how on most flash sites when viewed they fit the screen perfectly, however also then when viewed on computers with smaller screens they resize and still fit perfectly again.

View 2 RepliesI have a website made of swf files. The swf files are contained in an HTML body that I created with Dreamweaver CS4. I want the website or each page of this site or each swf file to resize depending on any screen or window size. I am using Flash CS4 and AS3. You can look at my site www.ealba.net and you will see that the size is too big for a 15 inches screen or smaller. I think there is a code for it... a code that adapt the website to any screen size.

I have created a website 900px by 600px, and need to know how to make the site so that its size is dependant on the users resolution.( I have had complaints of the text being too big in 800 by 600, but too small in 1600px by 1200px) the site itself is created in flash 5 if that is of any use.(although wouldn't it be something more to do with the html coding?
View 3 RepliesHow can I make my flash Webpage displayed same size on any screen resolution of my computer? Whether it is 1024 X 768 or 1280 X 960 screen resolution, the size of Webpage (Flash Webpage) should always be same so that user don't need to use horizantal scroll bar to view all the content.
And secondly, how can I scroll my webpage vertical on moving with my mouse like in the following link: The below link also shows that it's webpage size is always same on any screen resolution.[url]...

I'm building a portfolio full flash site, trying to make a resize to fit with any monitor size. I have two swfs. One main.swf and page.swf as a child which loads within main one.

just wondering how to resize a square so that a thumbnail size image comes through
heres the link peeps: its awesome [URL]
And just loved the way it looked, anyone have any idea how to get a similar effect using ideally CSS/JS and if not then using flash? Furthermore it would be excellent if you could move to the next slide by clicking on the image itself.I'm also wondering how she is able to maintain height of the images when resizing (unless she is doing it manually which I doubt now days).

I have been looking for a tutorial or thread to help me figure this out. I am trying to make a site that when the browser is resized the objects in the site either resize or keep their position and stay visible. The link below is an example of exactly how I want this to work.[URL]...
Im working in AS2, and Im not sure if this can be done in flash alone or needs to be done in html or a combination of both.
In ActionScript 2.0, I am trying to make my application resize to Full Screen mode (for Flash Player 9). It goes to full screen correctly, with the typical message "Press ESC to exit Full Screen mode".
What I need to do though is toggle a few elements' visibility on the stage.
So when I go to to Full screen mode I do

I currently have some code that displays an image in a pop up and just takes the width and height of the image. My problem is that some of the images are larger then my screen. How can I get the size of my screen and then readjust the width and height of the image based on that?
View 2 RepliesThe problem that I'm facing is in regards to the width of a sliding menu that I've created. The menu slides based on mouse x position and width of the movie. I would like the menu to fit to the entire screen regardless of the users resolution. I wanted to know if there's a way to detect a users screen width and then adjust the variable for screen width within my actionscript .fla if necessary.
View 10 RepliesIs there a way that I can find out the screen resolution of a users screen? I want to add scroll bars for users with a resolution lower than 1440X900 and if u have 1440x900 or greater it wont show the scroll bars.
View 5 RepliesSo ive been asked to build a page for a real state company and the guy told me it should be similar to these [URL] Ive been trying a couple of weeks so far, but i dont seem to find a way to do somthing similar, i mean, i want to have the welcome screen as those two:
- the gradient background
- flash occupies whole screen no matter what size it is
- gradient expands sideways infinately
- no matter what height my explorer window is, gradient is always in the same position relative to top, and if i keep expanding downwards the background keeps last colour of the gradient.
- the brand logo looks as if it had top, left and right anchors, and it also limitates the minimum width of the explorer window
i though of addind a 3000 x 3000px square with the gradient and centering it, but i know there has to be a professional way of achieving that.
When you drag the screen in any direction the background scales and rezises.But How do I make the text stay center and a certain size so that it wont scale to fit the screen and will stay a certain size
View 1 RepliesTried stage.stageWidth and stageHeight on applicationComplete, but for some reason the actual numbers returned do not seem to be accurate - the image always appears off-centered (stageWidth/2 - imageWidth/2). How do you determine the mobile device's actual screen size, to center an object?
View 1 RepliesI'm creating a flash site. I want the flash movie to fill the entire browser window. What size should I make the canvas, I've been experimenting with sizes and a canvas size of 750*370 fills my browser well on a resolution of 800*600
How do you accomodate different resolution settings? What's the most commonly used canvas size for this type of project.
