I'm currently trying to create an advent calendar I would like the flash movie to somehow recognise the date on the users computer and then gotoAndStop at that particular Frame Label (eg. If it's the 20th December then it jumps to Frame Label 20 in the main timeline.
In a part of one of my ActionScripts, I want to set a date to an exact time, using GMT, so users in any time zone will be able to see the time until or time elapsed since that time in London.
In JavaScript, I would simply add "GMT" to the date that I am inputting, as follows:
Is there a way with AS3 and flash player 10+ to check the modified date / time of a file? I'd like the swf to see if the local file has changed since it last checked. If it has, load the new data and go from there. An outside source is writing that new xml file and it could be a few seconds to days or weeks before it's updated again.
I'm using flash CS4 and actionscript 2.0. I have a situation where I need to locate and check the date of an external file (either .exe or .swf) and return that date string to a variable in flash. I then need to display that date to a piece of dynamic text within the flash file. Is there a function within action script that will check and retrieve the file date of an external file.
I'm developing a game add-on/plugin which replaces a built in feature of an online game. The game loads an .swf therefore, my solution also has to be an swf for it to work 'in-game'.
I would like to be able to have the user press a button in the custom .swf I am making - and this would open an external application (amongst other things). I.e. if there was a button that said Notepad, it would open Notepad.exe on the machine.
My initial thinking was that i could have a XML Socket server 'daemon' runnning (c#) , which i could connect to with flash - however, as both the swf and the daemon are local, flash complained and gave this error: "Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not permitted to use sockets."
The only way i know to fix this - is to change the security settings of flash - not very user friendly!
So! Any thoughts on how I could otherwise go about this? I was thinking a custom http server could do the trick (connected with URLRequest) although i'm not too sure.
I'm building a Flash app (as3) that allows users to embed photos of themselves in a scene--think carnival-style cutouts (or faceInHole). I like the interface design for image manipulation at FaceInHole, which puts anchor points and a skeleton around the boundaries of the uploaded image and lets users drag the image to change its position, resize it by dragging corners, rotate it, etc, similar to the free transform tool in photoshop.
Originally, I was planning on building the application with an interface that just used buttons in a control console to manipulate things like position, rotation, etc, but I find the FaceInHole approach more intuitive.I have two questions:
a) Will most users find the in-place skeletal manipulation tool more convenient than the button-based tool, or do I just find it easier because I'm used to things like Flash and Photoshop that use a similar interface?
b) Are you aware of any good open source classes / libraries that contain a solid implementation of the photoshop-style free-transform image manipulation interface?
I have a SWF file located at the local network in the public shared folder that I do not control over trying to read the external file on the local network.
I am currently hitting instead an security violation
Error #2148: SWF file file://....mySWF.swf cannot access local resource file://...config.xml"
I've added the network path where SWF an XML file resides to "trusted locations" via Flash Player Global Settings.
The added network path is successfully displayed at the list of "trusted locations" within Global Settings Manager, but it does not look like Flash Player is able to really parse the local network path as a "trusted location"
Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result.
I'm trying build a simple band site using flash and as2. All I want to have is a page listing shows that sorts them according to date and also when the show date has passed drops that entry from view.I can do this easily enough with a database and php but want to learn how to do it in actionscript. Here is what I currently have, shows load from the xml file into a simple textbox:
Code: scrollBar.target = shows_txt; showsXML = new XML();
my date of string like (2009-12-03 21:05:00) date with time . so i used to store var newdate:Date=new Date(Date.parse(startdate)); but shows some errors.and also i tried to split string(date) used date function likevar datenumber:Number= (new Date(Date.parse(startdate))).getDate();
Does anyone know how to get actionscript to render a null date value '000:00:00T00:00:00'? I am calling a web service that expects date fields in the SOAP xml. I need some of these dates to serialize as null and I can't see how to produce null. The closest value I can get is '1899-11-30T00:00:00Z'. Below is the code I am using:
I'm trying to determine the difference in time between todays date and a future date. I only need to determine how many months and days it is between todays date and this future date. Anyone know of any prebaked scripts anywhere for determining what todays date is and subtracting it from the end date would be? [code]So if today's date is less then the end date I'd like to determine how many months and days are left until the end date is reached and display the number of months and days until that end date.
I'm trying to get a random date in a date range and this is what i have so far but it doesnt seem to be working ? Where I'm I Going wrong ?Gets the date difference
private function differenceBetweenDates(date1:Date, date2:Date):Number{ var MS_PER_DAY:uint = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24;[code]..........
I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.
I have 2 DateFields named startDate and endDate I want to set startDate's Selected date to Current months start date and endDate's Selected date to Current months End date.
I need some scripts for the countdown with a current date like 01.30.2009 to count down to meet the deadline - 04.16.2009. how to do that except I can only build a very simple countdown.
[URL] how to make a date countdown. I now want to take it a bit further. On my site I have three gears that just continuously turn; now what I want to do is that over a period of time, these symbols change. Like say every 2 hours the symbols change to a different colour or something, and at pacific dates more gears will appear.
I have many text elements in my flash file - how do I modify the text to make it all caps? Is there an easy way where I can select all of them in one go and make them all caps?
I have a situation where I have a date in this format.
Code: var currentDate : String = "09/22/09"
and I want to be able to change this dynamically to the next date.like you had currentDate +1. The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.
newDate = Wed Sep 22 00:00:00 GMT-0500 1909
I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.
I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
Why there are differences between AS Date and Java Date? I have a startTime field in an ActionScript class and also have a startTime in the related Java class. The time set in AS is new Date(2009,11,19,10,35,50); and then I find it has the value of 2009-12-19T10:35:50.000-0500 in the Java object.
