Flash :: Conflict Between Fonts In Swc And External Swf?

I have an actionscript 3 based website that is loading font outlines dyncamically, from external font swfs, using a common technique.

Everything works fine until I attach assets from an swc containing text with the same font.At which point only the outlines from the swc are used. So for exampe, if the swc has a dyncamic TextField, containing the letters "abc" then only those letters will display in the website and not the entire alphabets that where previously loaded dyncamically from the font swf.

Scenario:swf B compiles with class Vo in it and displays it's values swf A compiles with a revised version of Vo in it and loads swf B

Result:
swf B shows swf A's revised Vo class properties and not the version it got compiled with even though nobody told swf B to change it's Vo properties.

Has anyone encountered these kinds of situations? How is everyone dealing with this?

[EDIT] Since the forums still seem to be broke, you can grab my sample files here. Compile B.fla and then change class Vo version property and you'll see when you compile A that B display's the new Vo version. Link to Files

Professional :: Embedding And Using External Fonts In Flash CS5?

I just upgraded to Flash CS5.  Font embedding is entirely different than it was in CS4.  I've been looking for examples online but none seem to show me a solution that matches what I need.
 
In the project I'm working on, code changes the font a text box uses based on region and language.  To keep file size down I created separate swf files with the fonts embedded.  That way I only download the font I need.  The way I did this and the code I used in CS4 doesn't seem to work anymore.

We have a large flash site which is translated into 11 languages. We have a font loading system whereby all the characters required to display the site in each language are embedded in external swfs (so 11 swfs).recent update to the site requires us to use the Text Layout Framework (TLF) for one area of text display, which of course only supports fonts embedded in the new CFF format. I've attempted to embed a second instance of the font using the tag embedAsCFF="true", and after loading in the font SWF I can see this font is correctly registered as it shows up in the array returned by Font.enumerateFonts.The TextFlow instance I am using has the following properties set:

textFlow.fontLookup = FontLookup.EMBEDDED_CFF;
textFlow.renderingMode = RenderingMode.CFF;
textFlow.fontFamily = "HeadingFontCFF";

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. I've recently had to format my computer and now having a problem with the flash actionscript window: the actionscript text looks like bold, or in a different font. The problem is that when I search for something like "flash" and "fonts", no matter which other words I use, always comes a lot of things about fonts for flash files, or for flash embedding fonts, but never for the program itself. Wich font is missing in my system that flash CS3 needs?

I'm using Flash CS4. I'm trying to load and embed an external font. The main problem I'm having is that I need to import more than just latin 1. I need many special characters imported as well. Because of this, using Flash CS4's create new font from the library is not an option. I'm using Verdana, so I know the font has all the characters I need. So what I need to do is create an external swf that holds the font. Then I need to import and use the font. Unfortunately, I've found way too many ways online that work but don't fit my needs.

I'm making a flash application that that let's the user to create a image(like paint).Everything works fine but i have a problem embedding external fonts. Embedding them the classic way(library->New Font->...) is ok, but I want to load my fonts from an external source, so if a user want's to use his own font he would be able to upload his font on my server and the flash to be able to embed the font to the movie(using an xml or php)

In AS2, if I have a swf file that I have added a font to the library how do I load that swf file into my main swf on runtime and utilize that font? I figured it would be use loadmovie, but not sure after that.

I really don't want to load the fonts directly in the library of the main swf if I don't have to, because I have 12 fonts to load. So, I will be passing the main swf file a variable that will tell it which font file to load.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading External Fonts Via Embed?

I typically embed the fonts in a library and use it this way but sometimes this gives me issues. I'm using Flash Pro CS5 and I'm trying the Embed method. I've seen many blogs/posts (here, here, here, here, etc in order of which my problems arose) but none of them are working for me. I'm getting the transcode error issue.
 
Can anyone shed more light on what the Error: Unable to transcode 'some/path/to/a.ttf' transcoding error is? Im sure the path is right, I've tried embedding with and without various options like mimeType, I can't get it to embed the font, or any font for that matter. Tips on embedding a font? My code would typically look like this:

Actionscript 3 :: Loading Fonts From External SWF - Some Work, Some Do Not

I have saved a dozen Fonts into separate swf files (embedded in the library of their respective .fla files). I am loading up to four of them and whilst most of them work, the script silently fails for Arial and Times New Roman. These fonts have been embedded and compiled the same as the others, and when I trace the available fonts I get an object saying that the required font has been loaded ([Object { fontName="Arial", fontStyle="regular", fontType="embedded"}]), however the text is not being rendered. If I change which font to use then the text is rendered using the correct font and performs as expected. It is only with these two fonts that I have a problem with.Is there a common problem with embedding these two fonts or is it possible I have changed a setting somewhere?

Actionscript 3 - Flash TouchEvent And MouseEvent Conflict?

I have 2 controllers on my stage, one behaves like an analog controller (A) for left/right up/down etc, controlled with a TouchEvent. The firing controller (B) is bound to another TouchEvent.problem is TouchEvent seems to be much slower than using say MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN for controller (B) which results in a much faster firing mechanism. If I am using TouchEvent to control (A), and MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN on controller (B), (B) will not fire unless I release (A) meaning I cannot move and shoot at the same time which is frustrating, but I can use a MouseEvent for controller (A) and a TouchEvent for controller (B). how I can stop the conflict?

When i load an external swf file it looses quality and renders blurry. But the swf itself (the external one) looks perfectly fine standalone. Now i ask myself, is this really a flashbug or what the heck is it?

IDE :: Tree Menu Conflict W/ Newer Flash Player Versions

I got project, an accordion menu/tree menu, that just has 2 expanding parts. Very simple looking, but needs to look exactly like the image I was given.Not knowing much code, I luckily found an old sample of a real simple tree menu, since I didn't need any expensive components or plugins, nor did I want to deal with external XML files (can't code an XML worth a damn anyhow). But this old sample had everything in the fla, and did just what I needed it to. I attached it here, Menu_Old.zip.I took that exact same setup from the sample, and exact same code to make my current menu.At first, it did work fine, but the text looked really rough (I had to use images), but it definitely looked off. Looks fine in the fla, but when viewing the swf, the images are crap, some rollover states don't even line up.Then upon further inspection, I noticed that the profile of the original sample that I also built off of was an old Flash MX file. Profile said it was flash player 6, and actionscript 1.0. I'm guessing maybe player 6 just had crap antialiasing?Using flash CS3 (but saving these as flash 8), I was able to change the profile on the sample menu to flash 9 (& even actionscript 2.0) and it still works and looks fine, even after saving with the new profile.However, with my new menu that uses all that same code, when I use anything higher than flash player 6, my text look perfect again, but I lose all functionality!This doesn't make sense! And the guy needs this menu like yesterday! The way the text/images look in flash player 6 mode in unacceptable.

I am using flash cs3 and cs4 (same results on both).I put this post in this section because the code and original file are flash 8 or older stuff, plus in cs3, I did save these as flash 8 files.I both modified the original sample fla itself to the new menu to see if that might fix the problem, but it didn't.Nor did starting it over from scratch, despite again using the same old code.My new menu just isn't expanding, other than when profile is player 6 where it looks awful.You can see for yourself, if you change the current menu profile from player 6 to anything newer, the text looks great, but it will likely lose functionality like it does for me. Do the same with the old sample menu, you can even use the player 10 profile in cs4 and it still works.

I am a COMPLETE newb at actionscript. Right I can upload the font to the server.But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?

I have an image that grows on mouseover and shrinks on mouseout, and I'm using the following script for the events:

The problem is that while the image is growing or shrinking,if the mouse is on the exact border it simultaneously gets stuck on both the mouseover and mouseout fuctions, resulting in seizure-inducing loop. Is there any way to ensure that a function completes once it's started, or some other way to avoid the simultaneous over/out condition?

I'm creating an application with an animated kid figure. All the kid symbols sit in a kidLibrary.Fla file, Each of these symbols have a class named "Kid" linked to it on its Properties >Base Class. This Kid class is responsible for setting the right color and hair type for each kid symbol instance. Every time i need to include one of these kid symbols i drag it to the current .fla file I'm working on. If I place only one kid symbol in the library of the file I'm working on, everything works fine!

Now here is the problem: When i place more than one kid symbol in the library, and then drag it to the stage, then one of the symbols works fine while the other one doesn't seem to access all the properties of the Kid base-class. The result is that only one symbol act perfect while the other one(s) not.

I'm an artist, not a developer, but I work with various media. I am so~so with AS3 and JS and a total noob with PHP and databases.Anyway, I am writing a Class based on keyboard events and I am finding that if the keys are hit too fast the triggered events don't complete.I'll explain further:I have a picture broken into parts (a red background here, a blue stroke there, and so on). Each one of these elements is a Library Object, and they are all set to alpha=0, and each one in turn, is tied to a key on the keyboard. When the key is struck, the picture element goes to alpha=1, plays a sound, and starts tweening back towards alpha=0.
