Jun 20, 2011In Flash 8.If I use a special font to display a label for dynamic text(the content is updated at runtime) is there a way to automatically install this font if not already installed?

Special Characters In Dynamic Text?
Oct 23, 2003i'm loading a dynamic text, but some spanish characters like " and " (i hope you see the characters in "") do not appear. Por example, the word "drsticas" which has the special character over the "a" appears "dricas", that is, it skips the letter with the special character and the 2 following letters.Anyway, i've tried using the embed option for dynamic texts, but may be i'm using it wrong.

Jul 9, 2010I am facing a problem while embedding font(Arial) in as3. Please check the attached fla. Here the text is "Press â–²+â–¼ to reset it to default." But when I set testTF.embedFonts = true; up and down arrow is not shown in output. If you set the value to false, characters are shown.

Dec 26, 2003I used tutorial to dynamically load text from a txt file. I put the following code into frame 1:

loadText.load("TEXTPERSO.txt");

And I added the following variable into my txt file:
myNews=... ...
This works fine as long there is no special character such +, etc. How to display all the caracters included in my txt file?

But the problem is, if the client doesn't have the "TF2 Build" font, the font will be Times New Roman.I would like to know to attach the font to the .swf file.

I have taken a dynamic text field with HTML property = true;
Some of the characters are working fine. But some of the special characters are not. For example the angle symbol "∠" is not working.
I found out the Decimal code for angle symbol (∠) and used it. It is working fine if I don't embed the font but when we embed the font (even with all the characters that flash support), it is not working.
I am using the following code

Data Integration :: Dynamic Text, System Fonts, And Special Characters?
May 5, 2006I've got a dynamic text area pulling text from a MySQL database via AMFPHP.The text includes special characters such as accents,umlauts, etc (multi-language site platform). Most of them work fine, and ALL of them work fine when I'm on a Mac client. However, if I use a Windows client machine in either Firefox or IE6, there are a couple characters that for whatever reason just don't seem to show up-instead I get the [] box character.
The only characters I've found that seem to be affected like this are European quote characters like ' " and " (hex characters 146, 147, 148). I'm using the familiar ampersand-pound-number-semicolon escape sequence for them. And like I said, they all display fine on Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari. Why are all my other special characters (umlauts, accents, etc) working fine and just these things failing? It's also worth noting that they look fine if I dump them out to a PHP file and pull it up in a browser...
Html :: Bold And Regular Font In Dynamic Text Under A Mask In Flash ?
Feb 20, 2010I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.
Flash :: AS3 Embedded Font In Linked SWC / Source Blanks Out When Setting Dynamic Text Field
Jul 15, 2010I've got a number of related projects set up in Flash Builder. Each project gets its graphical assets from an exported SWC file (or multiple SWC files.) This works fine, but I wanted to create a shared project that contains stuff used across all projects. The first item in there is a screen with a number of clips containing dynamic text fields on them. This screen (and associated assets) are exported to a SWC and then I have written code in the shared project to add functionality to the screen and buttons. I'm using 2 fonts, both are embedded.
Both show up just fine in my test harness, but when I link the shared SWC and src folder (which is required in order to use this code/assets in the other projects) the textfields blank out if I try to set their text properties. If I leave the default text (set in the FLA) it shows up, and the static text fields in the FLA also show up, it's only when I set the text property.
I've tried a number of combinations, including removing embedding, exporting for ActionScript, setting all textfields in the shared project to dynamic, all with no luck. The main project does have the same font embedded, and I've checked that the same glyphs are selected in both the main and shared projects. I realize this is a rather complicated setup, but I have yet to find a workflow to allow a designer and developer to work on large projects that is better (but I'd love to hear one!)
IDE :: Can't Embed Special Font
May 2, 2009I wanted to use a special font (frenchscript mt) for captions I made in the dynamic text field. (My captions change depending on the image chosen and it has links too). I've done all kinds of embedding, including the new font symbol embedding method but nothing works. I test if embedding was done by removing the font from my fonts folder. But when I do this, the captions become Arial I even tried to put a plain dynamic text field on stage using the special font, but the same thing happens when I remove the special font from the fonts folder. What can I do to make sure that even users without this font will be able to view the caption in the special font??

Oct 15, 2004Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?

As soon as I embed the numerals within this text field the text lowers within the text field.Double clicking the field then renders the text higher up! It seems that the height it shows when I double click is the height it compiles atThe other strange and annoying thing is that my colleague working on the same project is using the exact same font and same file but this doesnt happen to him and so the font redners out differently when he compiles

Jan 16, 2011So, I have some basic actionscript code. It's a legacy site, so I'm using AS2. The line of code simply does this:
myField.text = "some text"
So, I select the text field on the stage, then ensure the font is embedded. All the glyphs I want are checked, but then when I compile and test, the fonts don't show up when the code is executed. Instead, the textfield is blank! What happened?! Where did the text go?
I should mention that the .swf which I compile is loaded into another parent .swf during runtime. If that parent .swf does not contain embedded fonts, is that why it's broken?

Html :: Build A Webapp That Requires The Use Of A Special Font?
Feb 16, 2010I'm planning a webapp. I have all the wireframes defined, the interfaces designed in photoshop, data structures etc. It will be built on php and mysql however I've been unable to decide on which technology to use as a GUI. All your insights are welcome.
The problem with going the html way is that the GUI makes use of a special font that is crucial to the visual aspect of the app. So this font is required. For headers and fixed sections I could do sfir or use images but being a webapp, the amount of dynamically generated content makes it imposible to use image replacements. Enter flash. Flash solves the font problem easily, it even adds font antialiasing and animations which makes it look even sexier. Another pro is being able to deploy as an air app to use local storage for users that have troublesome connections. This way when internet access is restored the app can sync with the main servers. BUT... flash is being ignored by major developers, this would mean the app wouldn't be accessible to mobile devices, ipads,search engines, etc and requires the installation of the flash plugin which is not that big a deal but should be considered.

Mar 17, 2009i'm using a font called "AGBookBQ-Regular" in a dynamic text box, which loads a text file. i understand that to include the bold and italic options, i have placed another text box just out of view off the stage with these two options selected.italic works fine but the bold makes very little difference... it only stretches the font slightly.i've searched for the answer to make a much bolder font and it seems you can use a specific bold font as the bold font.i've tried this, but nothing happens. i think i'm interpreting it correctly, but if someone could please confirm this works and perhaps explain it a little clearer (using my specific font names... "AGBookBQ-Regular" and "AGBookBQ-Medium" as the bold font).

Apr 7, 2011I have a dynamic text field which is populated at runtime with AS3. I have set the font of the field to Arial. However, when I run the SWF, the font is MS Gothic. I can't seem to get it back to Arial.
I guessed this may have something to do with character embedding, so I clicked the Character Embedding button, and selected "All" (just for testing). However, that didn't work.

May 19, 2010have created a scrolling text area in flash CS3 using a dynamic text box with text inside controlled by a couple of buttons using the .scroll property to add to the scroll value on each click of a button.i am wanting to add two new buttons to decrease and increase the font size of the text within the dynamic text area, which i thought should be fairly easy. i found a .size property which could be applied to text, but i do not think i am using it in the right way. here's what i have tried to do (where 'myText' is the instance name of my dynamic text area):

Nov 29, 2011henever I try to embed fonts for dynamic text fields, no text appears in my text box. The text is loaded into the dynamic field from another variable, long story short it all works, except for if I try to embed fonts. One thing, the dynamic textbox is html enabled, and I have <b> tags within the code, so the text ends up being bold. This is how I want it. Do I have to 'embed' a bold variation of the font as well as the regular variation?
