Flex :: Compare ClassFactory.generator Property (from Mxml) With Its Original Class?
Jun 10, 2011
I have some components declared in MXML tags, with some properties and event handlers.For some of them there is the need to re-instantiated, so I came up with the following architecture.Array of components that will be re-instanciated at some poin:
Is is possible to bind class properties to mxml components ? E.g.: I have a class A.as with a String property nameValue. What I want to achieve is always having the latest value of a mx:Text component in nameValue.
Let's say I have created a class named Store. This class has several elements such as Name, PhoneNumber, Owner. I've created 2 instances of this class and want to know which values are different. So lets say that Store1 and Store2 are instances of this class.
Is there a way to automatically loop through all elements of a class instance and compare them to the same element in another class instance and return something when they differ?
Is it possible to set a percentage value for the width property of an UIComponent defined in MXML using data binding?
What I try to achieve is something like this (which doesn't work):
<s:Button width="{buttonWidth}%"/>
I know that using percentage for width or height properties in MXML is kind of a hack in the Flex SDK, since they're supposed to accept numerical values only, but since percentWidth and percentHeight aren't available in MXML, I'm pretty stuck =/
I would really like to avoid using code to do such a simple thing, in order to keep my code as clear and readable as posible.
Since there's so much potential pollution within namespaces, particularly with the parser automatically declaring any MXML component with an id to be publicly-accessible using that ID I'm finding it dangerous to use just camelCase for MXML element ids. eg:
[Code]...
In Flash development, a lot of us did this for (automatically) declared stage instances like "mcMyTabBar" or "navMC" or "playPauseBTN". I'm looking for input from the Flex community about this. Am I just overthinking things? All of the related Style Guides and best practices documents I've read on the topic just say "use camelCase for ids, and make sure the id property is the first property". What's your take?
I have created an item-renderer (IListItemRenderer) to customize the display of a datagrid, and I override the data getter/setter to pass in the relevant variable.
In the item-renderer I have a button, which, when clicked, should display a form populated with various fields of the aforementioned variable. To do this, Button is overridden so that it displays whatever IFactory implementation it is passed.
private function instantiateDropdown():void { _dropdownFactory = new ClassFactory(MyPanel); _dropdownFactory.properties = {boundData: _myVariable};
[Code]....
My IFactory implementation is a panel containing my form, and it is displayed when the button is clicked, as desired. However, the variable is not set. It seems that in order to instantiate my IFactory before the overridden button needs to access it, my new ClassFactory() statement needs to be in the preinitialize event handler, but the variable has not been set at that time. Setting the properties of my IFactory instance after it has been created (e.g. in the click event) does not appear to work.
How should I pass my variable to my ClassFactory-generated instance so that it populates the form correctly?
Again pulling my hair out due to some Flex/AS3 weirdness. The following code does not compile due to error 1120 - Access of undefined property AbstractWizardModel
I have a datagrid that allows user to change and save columns widths and visibility. I'd like to add a reset button that would just reset the datagrid to it's original mxml. This is the original datagrid code.
Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?
MyRenderer is a class that I wrote, but Flex doesn't see it and gives "defintion not found" error, because it is not within the mx namespace. What is a clean way to make this to work?
I have a page made of custom components. In that page I have a button. If I click the button I have to call another page (page.mxml consisting of custom components). Then click event handler is written in Action-script, in a separate file. How to make a object of an MXML class, in ActionScript? How to display the object (i.e. the page)?
I'm having a problem that has been really getting to me for the last 12 hours or so and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I know it's something simple, but I just don't know the correct syntax.
I've got a Flex Application in Flash Builder 4 with a file called "Test.mxml" which looks like this (simplified):
I'm working on a simple task/calendar tool where tasks can be added dynamically to a canvas. Here is the main application as defined in Main.mxml, which is essentially just a Canvas and a button for adding a task:
The problem is that when I add a Task instance to the Canvas, the children (the button and label) don't appear. I tried setting creationPolicy="all" on both the Canvas and the BorderContainer, but it still didn't work. I've read a bunch of posts about people having issues accessing members of their class before the class is fully loading, but all I want to do is SEE that Label and Button show up inside the BorderContainer.
Is it possible to access a declared component as an IFactory within an MXML class? I've used this style of declaring factories many times for Skin Parts, but I've never figured out how to access those factories from within the MXML.
How can I get access to public variables in my main .mxml application from my AS class and vice versa? Also, say I have a main container panel defined in mxml, how can I reference to it's id from a separate class file?
I was wondering how I apply an edited actionscript class to a component?
I've made a few changes to the TileLayout class (spark.layout.supportClasses.LayoutBase), but am unable to apply this new layout format to my group in my application... is it treated like a different tag within the layout tag?[code]...
i write a sound playback class that stop the older sound and play the new sound.After that i need an extra method in this class that trigger when the sound play is complete.I successfully achieve this, but i need to inform the main app (main.mxml) about the completion of that sound playing.
I have extended an mxml component with an actionscript class. I'm trying to access a component in the mxml file using the id (in order to add an event listener) but I cant seem to do it.
I get:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
i am using xmllistcollection for displaying data in list. whenever i run my application data is display in list control, but this warning has displayed in console. How can i remove this warning warning: unable to bind to property 'xmlnode' on class 'XML' (class is not an IEventDispatcher)
With MXML components, I've seen a pattern used where you have an AS3 class, then the MXML subclasses it, to have a separation between view/code (anonymized from real code):
package com.john { public class MyComponent extends Canvas {
[code]...
At least I think the MXML component is subclassing the AS3 class?Anyway is it possible/advised to do this with my main MXML application file, so I can put manager instances and things in the AS3 MyApp class, which is subclassed by Main.MXML?
I have created some code that creates a blue circle of random size on the stage, and startmoving it in a random direction, at a random speed.
But I'd like to create this as a static class, so that I can just import into a banner and make multiple instances appear at a time, but my limited knowledge doesn't allow me to
Here is my code:
Code:
var child:Shape = new Shape() var childSpeedX:Number = Math.random() var childSpeedY:Number = Math.random() var childDirectionX:Number = Math.random()
Does MXML get compiled down to as3 and then converted to flash bytecode? Also, is there a significant performance penalty to compiling mxml vs compiling as3?
I am working on a custom Flex 4 component which is an aggregation of two existing flex components. I would like to be able to specify my own custom properties for the component as well as access the existing public subcomponent properties via MXML. For instance I might want to adjust the font color or style for the label and text input. toy component which aggregates both a label and a text input:
I am trying to override a Button class, i have a few properties which i wish directly initialise with the mxml description of the component, like :[code]which function is triggered ( in order to override it ) when all properties with mxml description is fully initialised with their values ?
What I'd like to do: create an MXML component with some children, then extend it via MXML to create a new component with more children, without losing the original set.In other words
create a component bc.mxml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:BorderContainer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
