Dec 1, 2009create a LinkBar with the width set to 100%, and put 4 LinkButtons on the left side, and the 5th button needs to be placed to the right side. At first, I was trying to put 2 LinkBar controls in a HBox, however, this seemed to corrupt the flex application and caused a blank screen. Then I tried to put a mx:Spacer in the dataProvider property of the linkbar, but it didn't work either, the spacer only spans about 1 character wide and didn't push the 5th button all the way to the right.

Nov 7, 2010I had display in link as follows. Three Links on left hand side ,two links on right hand Side and in between Some space has to be there. Please suggest how to do this. I have an idea's please suggest which is possible and the technical difficulties.For three Links i thought to put LinkBar and for the left hand side i thought two apply two LinkButton .Below the links I will place a canvas in that I will add viewstack for the LinkBar and VBox for the LinkButton when it is clicked.

Jan 25, 2011I wanted to create a Flex LinkBar that looks similar to the iGoogle links. The links are expandable (one level-deep) by clicking on a plus button. I've considered styling a Tree or Accordion to get the desired look and feel. But before I spend time on one approach versus another, I thought to ask first. Does anyone know a component that I could use to achieve this? Or an example of someone doing a similar vertical navigation bar? It should only be one level deep and some parent nodes might not have children (doesn't expand).

Mar 23, 2011I'm working with a LinkBar component with a dataprovider that changes dynamically. Users can add and delete items from the LinkBar using an admin tool.
The problem is if the user adds many items in the LinkBar its width increases until it shows a scrollbar in my container.
I would like it to work so that when the user adds items, the LinkBar width is not changed but the height of the component increases instead and the additional buttons "wrap" around to another row.

Nov 13, 2009I was able to set the text color of a selected LinkBar button by "disabledColor" style of LinkBar.Accordingly, I expect to set the background color of the selected button by "backgroundDisabledColor" style, however, it didn't work; and except "backgroundDisabledColor", I didn't see any other style that could possibly achieve this.

Aug 11, 2011Any tutorial for a simple vertical navigation menu with a submenu. Like a drop down menu but vertical where the main links are on the left and the submenues come out the right side of the menu. I don't need any bells and whistles and I am just learning so it doesn't need anything but a button link when rolled over more link options appear to the right. Is there a tutorial that is not a place trying to sell me this capability and actually works (CS3), no errors, broken links etc...just a how to for a simple menu with submenus.

Jun 12, 2009I have created a linkbar with two labels. Now, I need to keep a track of the label clicks.i.e. If in the beginning "First" is clicked, the details will be displayed. After that, if without submitting the details, "Second" is clicked then an alert message should come to inform the user that "First is still in progress, do you want to cancel and begin Second operation". Vice-versa for Second to First transition. I need to know how to write events to keep track of which button clicked.

Dec 23, 2009I've been trying to customize each cell in a ComboBox using a custom CellRenderer class, as instructed on this article. [URL]. However, my problem is I am trying to customize *only* two cells in the dropdown list. And the dropdown is populated by an XML feed so I cannot hardcode which ones to stylize beforehand. In other words, I want to make it look like an HTML dropdown. So, I have been looking for an alternative...maybe a property that I can use or another ComboBox component that can support option groups, like HTML dropdowns.

Dec 19, 2010Basically, I created an image and converted it to a movie clip. Inside of this movie clip, I create a new layer and I give both layers 70 frames. On the top layer, I then draw a path, right click on the layer, and choose guide. I then drag and drop the bottom layer, which represents my movie clip, under the guide layer. The next step is to right click on the bottom layer, my object layer, and choose create motion tween. This for me however is blocked out, and my only option is to create a classic tween.
Just as a note, I am using CS5 and the tutorial I am following looks to be using an older version. Additionally, they don't right click on the layer and choose motion tween. They select the layer and from like their properties panel, they have a tween option, and from the drop down, they choose motion. I cannot find this option box in my interface however. Is there any logical reason why it wont allow me to do a motion tween?

I am using a mx:MenuBar with four main menus and a couple of submenus to navigate between these screens.I am now trying to convert this into a iPad app as well, but the mx:MenuBar does not appear to be supported in mobile flex. Is there any way I can replicate this sort of navigation system in mobile flex? The user needs to be able to move between any of these pages at any time, and 43 tabs will obviously not work

Mar 27, 2011I want to extend DropDownList control to include an option for creating or editing the options. For example; for a list of projects in the dropdown list, there will be another option that says "Create new project..." or "Edit projects..." and this will be the last option in the list. When user selects this option, the selectedIndex or selectedItem will not change and corresponding action will be taken (for example a popup window shows up).This will be a convenient way for the end user. Now I want this to work independent of the context and the class must be reusable. User will only specify the optionText and optionFunction to work this out. The basic structure of the class looks like this:
