Jun 12, 2009I have created a linkbar with two labels. Now, I need to keep a track of the label clicks.i.e. If in the beginning "First" is clicked, the details will be displayed. After that, if without submitting the details, "Second" is clicked then an alert message should come to inform the user that "First is still in progress, do you want to cancel and begin Second operation". Vice-versa for Second to First transition. I need to know how to write events to keep track of which button clicked.

Jan 25, 2011I wanted to create a Flex LinkBar that looks similar to the iGoogle links. The links are expandable (one level-deep) by clicking on a plus button. I've considered styling a Tree or Accordion to get the desired look and feel. But before I spend time on one approach versus another, I thought to ask first. Does anyone know a component that I could use to achieve this? Or an example of someone doing a similar vertical navigation bar? It should only be one level deep and some parent nodes might not have children (doesn't expand).

Mar 23, 2011I'm working with a LinkBar component with a dataprovider that changes dynamically. Users can add and delete items from the LinkBar using an admin tool.
The problem is if the user adds many items in the LinkBar its width increases until it shows a scrollbar in my container.
I would like it to work so that when the user adds items, the LinkBar width is not changed but the height of the component increases instead and the additional buttons "wrap" around to another row.

Flex :: Create A "spacer" In A LinkBar?
Dec 1, 2009create a LinkBar with the width set to 100%, and put 4 LinkButtons on the left side, and the 5th button needs to be placed to the right side. At first, I was trying to put 2 LinkBar controls in a HBox, however, this seemed to corrupt the flex application and caused a blank screen. Then I tried to put a mx:Spacer in the dataProvider property of the linkbar, but it didn't work either, the spacer only spans about 1 character wide and didn't push the 5th button all the way to the right.

and I have to determine which peer I'm sending to by their ID such as "peerID1234"
I know that you can check the peerID of the stream by doing:
sendStream.peerStreams[0]["farID"]
how can I make my send stream function know to use the array index where the peerID is?
so basically it could be like:
sendStream.peerStreams[where peerStreams[]["farID"] == peerID].send("MyFunction",param1,param2);

Jul 7, 2009I've got a subclass of AdvancedDataGrid showing a tree-like data structure. How can I, given the index returned by calculateDropIndex, get the item at that index? After reading through reams of code, it seems like the least terrible way is:
var oldSelectedIndex:int = this.selectedIndex;
var mouseOverIndex:int = this.calculateDropIndex(event);
this.selectedItem = mouseOverIndex;
var item:* = this.selectedItem;
this.selectedIndex = oldSelectedIndex;
The other option seems to be tinkering around with the iterator property... But, judging by the way I've seen it used, that will get pretty harry pretty quickly too. So, how can I get the item at a particular index in an advanced datagrid without going insane?

Dec 30, 2010I have a form that pops up in flex, it is a movieclip contained within a UIComponent. Within this movieclip are form fields.
For some reason I can't get the tab button working to be able to tab between the fields. I set up each field with a tabindex, but that doesn't work.
Is there anything else I need to do besides this? This is basically all the code I am using:
email.tabIndex = 1;
city.tabIndex = 2;
firstName.tabIndex = 3;
etc.
Is this not working because of flex? And if so, what is a workaround?

Jan 21, 2011I have a simple list in Flex that is populated every N seconds by a dataprovider. My goal is to avoid scrolling the list after the dataprovider has been changed.
So, before I populate the list, I save the selectedIndex, and once the dataProvider is filled, I call:
list.selectedIndex = index;
list.scrollToIndex(index);
Trouble is that this moves the selected item of the list to the top. The solution would be to get the index of the first element displayed in the list: but I have no idea on how to get that.

EDIT: I forgot to post that my current workaround is setting the selectedIndex = -1 after I get my node:XML. I'm afraid that if something bogs on the processor the user may see it select then deselect.

Feb 24, 2010I have two components being absolutely positioned within a container (they are MapSymbols on an ILOG Elixir map, if that helps). Each component is a VBox with an Image and a Label. Images have functionality tied to the Click event; labels do not.
The problem is when 2 items are positioned so that the label of one is above the icon of another in the z-index, so that the label eats any mouseOver and mouseDown events. Bubbling doesn't help since it bubbles from the label to the vbox to the container, never hitting the lower element. I can't set the vbox to mouseChildren="false", since that keeps the image from getting clicked, as well.[code]...

Flex :: Clear An Index Property In A ValueObject?
Jul 26, 2011I have used the index of a value object to map to a screen object so that new items added index as -1, -2, -3, -4, -5 etc. Now that I am ready to add these new objects to the database I want to clear their index value so that I can run a createService on them.
It wont allow me to delete object.property and setting it to 0 or trying to set it to null will not allow the object to be created in the database.
What other method can I use for clearing the property?

Aug 2, 2011Is there a direct way to get the item index of the data inside an itemRenderer? I need to display the item number against each item. I am currently doing a workaround and won't allow reuse of my itemRenderer component.

This is what i am using now, it works, but the concepts of component reuse and data abstraction are compromised.
