I have a basic linkbar using a viewstack. For every entry into the viewstack an reference shows up on the linkbar. How do I remove the reference on the linkbar but still have access to the viewstack item?
View 0 RepliesWhen I use Bitmap.draw() to copy a displayObject do I lose the transparency? In one case I might be copying a .png file that had transparency and in another case I'm copying a composite image made up of multiple DisplayObjects. It seems as though the resulting images are bitmaps with no transparency.
Is it possible to duplicate .png files in memory, preserving the transparency and having unique objects for using in different places in the display?
I am looking to determine the final event or location where it could be determined that an Image, or a UIComponent, has been rendered to the user. I need to know when it has been displayed and thus is, presuming it's not covered up or at a silly location, visible to the user. In the UpdateComplete Event Documentation it says:
This is the last opportunity to alter the component before it is displayed. All properties have been committed and the component has been measured and layed out.Overriding the dispatchEvent on an Image shows that the UpdateComplete Event is the last one that it dispatches after an update of the .source property. Breakpointing and walking the code after that event shows that the LayoutManager seems to finish with it's actions before the Image is displayed.
I have watched the dispatchEvent on and updateDisplayList on the canvas container and no dice. I assume that there is some higher (lower) object that I might be able to extend or listen to that would give me that final piece of information.
NoisyImageTest.mxml - test application for watching the event loop. If you breakpoint at line 22 you see the last updateComplete event but the image is not yet displayed. Stepping through the code from there, it exits the thread after the LayoutManager but still has not updated the screen. I assume that there is a point where the systemManager or stage or some other item could say it drew the image.

View 1 RepliesI wanted to create a Flex LinkBar that looks similar to the iGoogle links. The links are expandable (one level-deep) by clicking on a plus button. I've considered styling a Tree or Accordion to get the desired look and feel. But before I spend time on one approach versus another, I thought to ask first. Does anyone know a component that I could use to achieve this? Or an example of someone doing a similar vertical navigation bar? It should only be one level deep and some parent nodes might not have children (doesn't expand).
View 1 RepliesI'm working with a LinkBar component with a dataprovider that changes dynamically. Users can add and delete items from the LinkBar using an admin tool.
The problem is if the user adds many items in the LinkBar its width increases until it shows a scrollbar in my container.
I would like it to work so that when the user adds items, the LinkBar width is not changed but the height of the component increases instead and the additional buttons "wrap" around to another row.
Is it possible in flex to create submenu under linkbar option.

I have created a linkbar with two labels. Now, I need to keep a track of the label clicks.i.e. If in the beginning "First" is clicked, the details will be displayed. After that, if without submitting the details, "Second" is clicked then an alert message should come to inform the user that "First is still in progress, do you want to cancel and begin Second operation". Vice-versa for Second to First transition. I need to know how to write events to keep track of which button clicked.

At first, I was trying to put 2 LinkBar controls in a HBox, however, this seemed to corrupt the flex application and caused a blank screen. Then I tried to put a mx:Spacer in the dataProvider property of the linkbar, but it didn't work either, the spacer only spans about 1 character wide and didn't push the 5th button all the way to the right.

The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. I have a datagrid with different types of columns, like I have checkboxes, combo boxes and text Inputs as the column types. Now I want one of the column type to a link, with the label "view". All the rows in that column are link with the same label "View" and on clicking it, I want a Pop up window to be opened?

I didn't know how to bring a link in the datagrid. So used the Text control to display the "View" label. Now If I click this item, "View" in the datagrid, I want the Pop up function, i.e.,defectCommentsPopUp() to be called.

I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:

So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.
i created my subMenu buttons fine, however i only know how to link them to a picture/url address, my goal is to have the user click the subMenu button and open the image or page right below the menu bar in the "stage" area of flash.
