ActionScript 3.0 :: Trying To Create Option Groups With ComboBox

I've been trying to customize each cell in a ComboBox using a custom CellRenderer class, as instructed on this article. [URL]. However, my problem is I am trying to customize *only* two cells in the dropdown list. And the dropdown is populated by an XML feed so I cannot hardcode which ones to stylize beforehand. In other words, I want to make it look like an HTML dropdown. So, I have been looking for an alternative...maybe a property that I can use or another ComboBox component that can support option groups, like HTML dropdowns.

I'm using Flash CS3 and want to create a custom ComboBox. I've followed the steps outlined in "Editing component skins in a new document" (http:/[url]...), but every time I get to the step where I drag the ComboBox Assets folder from the HaloTheme.fla library into my library, if I test movie at that point my combobox has become an unclickable white rectangle with no label, button or anything.

Basically, I created an image and converted it to a movie clip. Inside of this movie clip, I create a new layer and I give both layers 70 frames. On the top layer, I then draw a path, right click on the layer, and choose guide. I then drag and drop the bottom layer, which represents my movie clip, under the guide layer. The next step is to right click on the bottom layer, my object layer, and choose create motion tween. This for me however is blocked out, and my only option is to create a classic tween.

Just as a note, I am using CS5 and the tutorial I am following looks to be using an older version.�Additionally, they don't right click on the layer and choose motion tween. They select the layer and from like their properties panel, they have a tween option, and from the drop down, they choose motion.�I cannot find this option box in my interface however. Is there any logical reason why it wont allow me to do a motion tween?

I am trying to create a option for my footer to load a movie file. It creates a sharedObject.... user_so.qLoad.first frame actions are this...

it will go back to frame 1 on the root... and i trace the value and it goes to undefined... but it goes back to frame 2 and loads the movie again.this is my first attempt at a sharedObject..

Just wondering if anybody knows of an existing component that subclasses ComboBox but lets you specify an item in the list with a label like "all" or "none" that will set selectedItem to null? I've looked into writing one, and due to the internals of the component it looks like a lot of work, so I'm wondering if somebody's already done it?

I'm working on a sort of AutoComplete component and faced one problem. When you create a new instance of a component, fill it with data - everything seems to be ok. When user types a letter in the inputField (and filter accepts one or few records) - everything goes alright, BUT if the first time user types a wrong letter (filter returned 0 records) - I'm getting a null-pointer exception.

This component is based on ComboBox. I have some thoughts about that: I suppose that the dropdown is not being created at time, any ideas on how to force my autoComplete to create it? I know 1 way - copy/paste some incapsulated code from ComboBox class .. but it would be too many of it .. I'm looking for a better solution.

I have tried to work on a simple form with Flash Builder 4, but was stuck in creating the dynamic addition of the instance for a textbox and combobox within a Hbox.I have created an HBox component with a textbox and a combo box. I then create a button Add new Row, to add a new row of Hbox on the runtime.

May I know how can I create the add to make it able to add new hbox component on clicking of the button, such that when i click the hbox 3 times, I should have 3 rows of the component instance and the button is still at the bottom of these components?

I have xml data that I can load into my flex app; however, I need to sort it by node.I'm trying to create a combobox or listbox that can display a list of locations sorting them either alphabetically or by the category they are in...

I can't get my head around how to format the xml or how to code the flash file to sort according to location name alphabetically and then press a button that will sort it by category 1st and second by name alphabetically.

Should I format the xml like this:

I've messed around a bit in Java and Visual Basic. For our class we've been assigned to make a flash game in groups, and our group has decided they want to do a base defense game. I've been looking hard for open source/tutorial versions of a simple base defense game, but all I've found are tower defense games.

Flash :: CS4 Losing My Panel Groups

I've noticed recently (the last week) that when I open Flash CS4, the Tools panel and the Actions/Timeline/Compiler Errors/Output panel group are not automatically open, like they always were before. Does anyone know of anything I could have changed by accident?

At the same time this started happening, I have a file that has a moving hot spot that is set with keyframes (depending where the active button is on the bitmaped screen capture behind the button). Even though the� button's onRelease handlers are advancing the timeline correctly, my button is not in the right place in the runtime version. If's still fine in the development environment. It's like the layers are out of sync with each other.

Flex :: Resize Groups Within A Group?

I am trying to automatically resize the children within an s:Group. The children are another s:Group and a H:Group. Each have a percentage width of 10% and 90% each. The problem is that when one of the groups is resized (using a transition and rotation combination in the Skin), the other group does not automatically resize to fill the space?

Shouldn't Flex do this automatically? or do I have to code this?

I've built a simple file to demonstrate what I'm trying to do (it's all dynamic, with AS3, no physical assets). Basically I've created 3 groups of objects via AS3: squares, circles, and triangles. I've placed 3 menu buttons on the side of the stage. I added all objects to the stage just so you can see them. Ideally I'd like to have each button call one of the groups to the stage and begin the tween that is assigned to the object. In this case I've made all the tweens 'alpha' for simplicity. So for example if the '1' button is clicked, it will add the group of squares to the stage and initiate their alpha tweens so that they fade in. Then when the '2' button is clicked, the squares will be removed and the circles will be added and their tweens initiated. I've never seen a tutorial on this so I'm not quite sure how to proceed. What I'd imagined is to group the objects into arrays then add the arrays to the stage with addChild?

I'm using this as a simple model to build a website where I'm going to be calling the content of each section of the site dynamically with menu buttons, instead of using the timeline at all. This is the next step in my actionscript evolution.

I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..

I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.

Using the Radio button component and I have 10 groups of buttons. Each group has a group name of g1, g2, etc for each yes/no button. I want to determine which button was clicked. When I run the code below I only get the first one and then each other button clicked I don't get a trace statement back.
