ActionScript 3.0 :: Images - Layer Hidden By Default And Then Displayed When An Option Is Chosen From The Combobox
May 17, 2009
i have got a layer that contains some movie clips but i would like them hidden by default and then displayed when an option is chosen from the combobox.
I've created two layers: 'actions' and 'msk';'msk' containes gradient transparent rectangle. 'msk' layer is hidden in flash IDE'actions' layer containes code, drawing rectangle of other color;
I've run into an extremely odd problem. I'll give a code example to start. This is the superclass Building.
Code: public var allowsEnemyMovement:Boolean = true; public var information:String = ""; public var buildingName:String ="";
[Code]...
Now here's the odd part. Only SOME of the variables defined in the superclass do this. the variable information, buildingName and health all will take the default value from the super class. But the variable defenseValue will take its value from Factory's constructor. What am I doing wrong here? I would like to keep default values in the superclass so that I don't end up with null pointer errors later just in case.
How can I drag the key frames back within each of the layers below so that they all end on the final scene. Currently when I hit play, the clip runs till the last key frame and the other layers that don't run that length disappear. How can I best fix this?
I need to programmatically set the selected item in a combobox. I've got a combobox like this: <mx:ComboBox id="MyComboBox" change="puzzleHandler(event);"prompt="Make a Selection"> <mx:ArrayCollection id="myDP"> <mx:Object id="first" label="Label 1" series="2" pageTitle="Title 1"/> <mx:Object id="second" label="Label 2" series="7" pageTitle="Title 2"/> <mx:Object id="third" label="Label 3" series="9" pageTitle="Title 3"/> </mx:ArrayCollection></mx:ComboBox>
I've got a function that regards deep linking. [URL]. They'll be taken to the appropriate part of the site (without having selected Label 2 in the comboBox). How do I set the comboBox programatically, so that it corresponds with what the user it looking at? In my function's switch statement, I want to set the comboBox to the label that corresponds with the view. If "view=2" then the comboBox should show "Label 2" as selected.
case "view=1": MyComboBox.selectedItem.label="Label 1"; parseUrl(); case "view=2": [Code] ..... I tried this: MyComboBox.selectedItem.label="Label 1" But it's not working.
I have researched the infamous 'Flash hogging keyboard focus' issue, but I believe our issue may involve a workaround that someone else has already come across. I've tried the various solutions I've found on stackoverflow and other sites, which I summarize below.We have a web app, and a particular interface loads several divs that we are using as "tabs". When a user clicks one of the tabs, we hide the current div and un-hide the new one. Our main tab (which is loaded when the page loads) embeds a document from Scribd, which is loaded as a Flash movie. When a user clicks on the Flash movie, they scroll with the mouse/keyboard like normal, and when they click outside of the document control returns as expected.When they navigate to another tab and then return to the original tab and click on the embedded Flash to navigate within it, the embedded Flash steals control of the mouse scroll and won't let it go. The user can click in this document and scroll with the arrow keys and then click out of the document and scroll the parent window with the arrow keys, but mouse scrolling is still bound to the embedded Flash movie. The only remedy is a hard page refresh.[code]This doesn't work -- I can confirm that the element is removed from the DOM, but when it is returned to the DOM it hogs mouse scrolling when clicked just like before.I also tried a similar solution, but instead of removing the element I called [code]
The movieclip itself has button functionaliy (ROLL_OVER etc) and is on the stage with a bunch of other movieclips with listeners.The hidden layer of this movieclip off to the side a bit from the main part of the clip, and its getting in the way of other movieclips that also have listeners... so the other movie clips lose their 'functionality' when I'm hovering over them at a spot where the hidden layer is. I need this hidden layer to appear at certain times so I can't get rid of it totally. Currently I am changing the x value of the hidden layer to push it off the stage, and then pulling it back when I need it (and this works) but this seems a bit unnecessary..
I'm writing a app with Flex/air,and i need a function that downloading files to the default dir without a pop-up window.i tried to use ftp instead of http but found it's not supported by air.how can i solve this problem?
I'm using a combo box control and the dataprovider is set as an XML. After the dataprovider is set, I want to edit the text of the first option and also I need to insert an item in the second position.
I've been trying to customize each cell in a ComboBox using a custom CellRenderer class, as instructed on this article. [URL]. However, my problem is I am trying to customize *only* two cells in the dropdown list. And the dropdown is populated by an XML feed so I cannot hardcode which ones to stylize beforehand. In other words, I want to make it look like an HTML dropdown. So, I have been looking for an alternative...maybe a property that I can use or another ComboBox component that can support option groups, like HTML dropdowns.
I'm looking to display three images, chosen at random on load, throughout the duration of a banner ad.Basically, these images are health tips displayed on post it's - as it plays, the post-it's fly off, revealing the next tip.I also need ensure that the images don't repeat I 'm mostly a timeline guy, but I've been learning AS and have no problem getting one image to display randomly - however the three separate ones with no repeat is throwing me off. My thoughts are to are to either
a) Put all the images on separate frame within 3 MC's, and somehow display a random frame within that clip on load, ensuring no repeat or
b) Load the images into 3 separate MC's through and XML doc, and pick one at random.
The images only appear one at a time - so I think each MC would only contain one of the 3 random images selected.So is it possible to load a random image into a MC,and then duplicate that MC without a chance of the image repeating?
I have a template fla file set up and one layer is set aside for audio. I have it set to Stream but when people put audio on the layer, it sets it to Event on some computers (not mine or one other co-workers, but on 2 other computers).
Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that can be set so that Stream is the default choice?
i need to develop an image gallery that displays images based on certain values chosen by the user. Imagine two sliders such as "gadgets" and "cars". The sliders provide values from 1 to 10. The flash movie then generates a gallery based on those provided weights. The user may want more gadgets than cars or all cars or more cars than gadgets etc. Im a tad lost as to where i should start here...XML? MYSQL? should i start swatting up on AS3?
Is there a way for you to set the default value for a combo box. Lets say the combo box is there, but the user doesnt have to interact with it. How can set the value of the combo box to a value without user input?
Is there a way to change the background color of the layers the Flash timeline itself? I'm using XP, and there is not enough difference in the color of a selected layer and one with extended keyframes that is not selected. At school I use a Mac and there is definitely a blue vs. a gray. On my computer, they are two very close shades of gray.
Ok I can't find any doco on this and it's driving me crazy. Anyone know how you specify the default value for the V2 ComboBox component based on the selectedItem when you don't know the selectedIndex? Here's my scenario:
I have a hardcoded combobox called "dd_names" with 50 names in it. I'm returning a dataset into Flash via a SQL query, and onload I need the dd_names dropdown to default to the value of the name returned in the dataset. So if the query returns "Tom" I need the dropdown to default to "Tom."
I tried setting dd_names.selectedItem = "Tom" and dd_names.value = "Tom" and these don't work. The ComboBox just defaults to the first item in the list.However, if I use the selectedIndex property and set dd_names.selectedIndex = 3, the ComboxBox doesn't default to the first item in the list but shows the appropriate item. This doesn't help because I don't know the selectedIndex being returned from the query - I only know the selectedItem. Anyone know how to do this??
I've got a comboBox with defined data and label fields. On Event.CHANGE I capture the data field. I need the comboBox to default back to the user selection if they should navigate to another screen and then come back. Normally I've got an array of labels that I can use to just lookup the index: comboBox.selectedIndex = labelArray.indexOf(user selection); In this case I don't have labelArray. What I really want to do is something like this (only with real AS, not fake):
comboBox.selectedData = storedDataString or, if the data array is accessible: comboBox.selectedIndex = comboBox.data.indexOf(user selection); Is there an easy way to do this, or should I just suck it up and add yet another global label array?
For example the spark ComboBox.Where is the default skin?Is it generated (at compile or runtime)?If it was in fact written by someone how does the compiler/Virtual Machine know where to find the skin class? I didn't see a location specified in the ComboBox source.
I have a Flash Form that is fairly long (about 8 short pages), so I have set the form up so that it can be reviewed when the filler-outer is done and they are ready to submit it. I'm using a Shared Object to store the information they enter so they won't lose their information if they hit refresh or need to come back later.
If they go back to the page with comboboxes on it, the comboboxes have reset to the default. The answer and data in the SO haven't changed, but it looks like it to the consumer/viewer.
So, I'd like for the boxes to display the choice they picked when they were on that page. I need use the value from the database to show the particular value in the ComboBox whenever the user returns to that page.
I made a carousel as "Creating 3D Carousels: Part 2" but with different images(11 images, 178x175 pixels). I integrate it in aspx page. When I run the page local(on my computer), the carousel it's working but when I run the page on the server isn't working, it displays only the flash background without images. I think it's happens something when the flash tries to load the images, maybe it don't have to much time to load its. I tried to put ,in first frame, a line code, to load the xml file and after 200 frames the rest of code, but nothing(I tried that because I thought the flash doesn't time to load the xml file).
I have a web based slide show that reads an xml file and loads images from a folder on the server. The client would now like to also offer this slideshow on a cd. I'm pretty sure that I can save all the assets to on the cd and the slideshow will work. But the client is concerned that someone with the cd will be able to directly access the images on the cd. So, here's my non-flash flash question, can the folder storing the images on the cd be hidden yet still be read by the flash movie?
Just wondering if anybody knows of an existing component that subclasses ComboBox but lets you specify an item in the list with a label like "all" or "none" that will set selectedItem to null? I've looked into writing one, and due to the internals of the component it looks like a lot of work, so I'm wondering if somebody's already done it?
I am building an application built by external action script 3.0 files only. I want to load 5 images on a UILoader using the data providers of a combobox, both located in the library.[code]...
I am making a Layer contains 312 Key Frames that is made of 312 gif images (each image contains a specific detail for my movie).what I have done;
-I have made a Keyframe in Frame 1 (imported Det1.gif to stage)
-then Selected Frames 2 to 312 and pressed F6 (Made 312 Key Frames that they all contains Det1.gif)
-Now I am one by one, going to different frames and cicking on Det1.gif image, and click SwapImage.
Now that I am talking to you, I have Swaped 50 of them, But still I have a long way infront of me to go before I finish those 312 SWAP images one by one.
I have a flashbuilder project with a big image. The problem is that the default preloader does not load the images/swf's inside the project. Is there a way to preload them?
I want to load jpgs using an external XML file into a flash layer and have a timeline playing over the top of them. I invision having photos loaded to a box on the left side of the stage covering 1/3 of the area, and then loading photos also to a box on the right side of the stage while an animation plays of the clients logo in the middle 1/3 of the stage area. My Action script skills are very limited. I have been able in the pass to modify what I have found on the web to work for my purposes. But, I have not been able to find anything that has multiple players on one stage or anything close. I created a swf that alternates loading an image on left and then right but it plays over the top of ... and then loads a third image behind the client logo in the middle covering the entire stage. But I would be happy with just a left and right alternating if possible.
really stuck with my thumbnails. Already get to open (load) the movie (container) with all the images but only get that the first thumbnail open all the container, so i canī set each particular thumbnail to open the corresponding big size image, this is what i got nowInto Characters and Illustrations, and click on the first thumb (upper-left)...really bad
