View 3 RepliesI'm tweaking a flash website for a freind and he wants to have some videos play from a page. There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions.What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.
View 1 RepliesI would like to ask your opinions about sites that have multiple themes available and allow the user to change the theme while navigating the site. What do you think about this? Is it a cool or attractive option? Is it unprofessional? Is it worth the work of development? Have you implemented something like this? I have been thinking about developing a system for a site to allow support for multiple themes but I am not sure if that would be professional and worth it.
View 3 Repliesi have got a layer that contains some movie clips but i would like them hidden by default and then displayed when an option is chosen from the combobox.
View 1 RepliesI have a drag & drop activity where 3 of the drags can go into 1 of 3 possible dropzones and be counted as correct. On clicking 'Submit', if only some are placed correctly, there's a 'Show me' option - this is the bit I can't do:if some of those with more than 1 possible answer are correct, I don't know how to check which dropzones are free to place the remainder in. My code for the first bit, checking the hitTest is ok:
for (var i:Number = 0; i<aLabels.length; i++) {
//3 drag items have 3 poss dropzones:
for (var t:Number = 0; t<aNewCorrectDZ[i].length; t++) {
//IF ITEM IS DROPPED ON ANY DROPZONE:

i have a weird issue....the flash file plays properly when i test it like enter+shift then all images load correctly.but same file if i stimulate download then it doesnt load the images.
View 2 RepliesI have a loop where I need to download certain number of images. This comes to the problem: each image loading process is a loader class instance. The COMPLETE event is triggered by event dispatcher while image loading is completed and as d.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete) is assigned to all instances we land with a single onComplete event handler for all downloaded images. That is fine, but not in case I need to treat them all differently.Normally, I would expect something like:
d.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete, arg)
what would allow to pass additional parameter to 'onComplete' event handler to let it know how to process given image. But (of course) that would ruin AS3 creator's sense of programmatic purity, so such an easy way is not provided. Having some research I learnt that actually I need to write my own "custome event" class. More - I even found some examples... but all written is such an Aesopian language that I failed to adapt them to my scenario
So I'm trying to make a photo portfolio, and I've decided on the following strategy:
1) create an XML file that has the URL of the external images contained in <IMAGE> tags.
2) upon a button click, load said XML file, and store xml_File.IMAGE as an XMLList (i.e. photoAlbum = XMLList(myXML.IMAGE))
3) using a loop that pays attention to photoBox.length(), sequentially load each URL and add them as children to a greater container (photoBox).
Here's the code:
ActionScript Code:
// create generic URL loader for XML
var xmlLDR:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
// create a container for image URL's
[Code]....
in my flex application:[URL].. when i run my app, I catch this error:
SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: Loader.content: http://mySite.com/2/BusFlex/BusProducts.swf/[[DYNAMIC]]/2 cannot access http://cs9621.notMySite.com/u7397474/c_b51d9fe6.jpg. A policy file is required, but the checkPolicyFile flag was not set when this media was loaded.

I've been stuck with a very weird problem for weeks now.I am dealing with the site [url]...
So it is so weird : it does not make sense at all !
If it is a question of settings on my local computer, my own example should works online.
If it is not a question of settings on my local computer, how could the other guy's example work and not mine?
I'm very confused. At this point, my only lead is the fact that I use cs3 and he uses cs4.
How can we import images using AS3 code so that when they are imported once will remain in the library forever..
View 3 Repliessuppose i have 10 image variables like this
var image1:String = http://somewhere.com/image1.jpg
var image2:string = .....image2.jpg
var image3:string = .....image3.jpg
and so forth.........
i have a timer that displays each variable as an image one a time ....
how do i "buffer" the image and display them instead of going out each time the timer runs? im asking because sometimes the server could slow or some other reason. so what i want to do is to download all those images and then display them from the clients computer. some sort like @Embed ??
I am writing a script to upload and download images. I have a cancel btn that is giving me an error, undefined method.
ActionScript Code:
// First thing is to set the flashing upload message clip to invisible
uploadMsg.visible = false;
// Set the URL for the PHP uploader script
var URLrequestUp:URLRequest = new URLRequest;
var URLrequestdown:URLRequest = new URLRequest;
// Assign the image types Filter

How do I download multiple files at once from a browser without combining them into single file? I found all kinds of multiple file uploaders, but downloaders are missing. There is only JUpload, but it's old and became buggy recently. I believe both Java and Flash can do this: select a folder at client's HD and download everything there.
View 1 RepliesI've built an audio player that is fed via an xml file. Users can use a 'previous' or 'next' button to select which track to listen to and then play it and this is all fine and works as it should. The problem I have is with the file reference class. I want users to be able to have the option of downloading the track. I can get this function to work once but once you download a track, choose another, then click the download button again I get the error message below:

The app itself will require some data from an online database to be downloaded and stored locally, so that the kiosk can be safely disconnected from the internet while running, and reconnected later to update its data.I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to do this. I figured that the data's easily enough loaded from a server-side PHP script and saved to a local SQLite database for offline usage, but I haven't been able to find any solid method of downloading and saving images. At least, not without using a save dialog.
View 1 RepliesI've made an image gallery which loads images from an XML-specified folder. My function doGallery(urlPath); is using an URL-Path as an argument, which allows me to load new images and create a new gallery with these at runtime.The function will store loader objects in a gallery array, which is then cleared and overwritten once a new gallery with new images are made.So far so good. However it seems as if I have to re-download the same images as I have already once loaded, if I decide to go back to a previously visited gallery. I assume this is because I overwrite and clear the array which contains my previous loaders. Could anyone confirm this and possibly offer a solution? I hope I'm making myself clear enough for you to grasp my issue here.
View 0 Repliesim loading multiple images but how do I make sure the program will start once all images have dispatched a complete event. like make a universal loader for all the other "small loaders" if you understand.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load multiple images into a scene and then cycle through the images one at a time.So, here are the essentials what I've put together in AS3:First I set up a counter and a Loader
[code]....
Then, after loading a list of images from an XML file, I call a function that I called "createImages". This function then takes the list of images and creates a bunch of loaders:
[code]....
So far, so good! I now have a bunch of loaders each with a different name "img1","img2","img3" etc.
I have a photo gallery that loads many images using a for loop (image data is from XML file). Simplified code looks like this:
Code:
var photos_xml = new XML();
photos_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
[code].....
I'd like to insert script in the example below that would indicate the download progress of two successive movie clips on a page.
import fl.video.FLVPlayback;
import fl.video.*;
explainer.source="movie1.flv"
[Code].....
I'm currently working on a Flex3/blazeDS/Spring/Oracle project. My requirement is display a list of files from an external FTP server in a grid, user can select single file or multiple files to download, and if user selects multiple files I should tar the files on the FTP server and download the tar file from FTP server to user disk. As per my understanding on the File Download in Flex we have 2 ways to do it. 1) File Reference 2) Using navigateURL and call server side JSP/Servlets to download files.
1) For FileReference we need to download the data first and prompt the user to save the file by clicking on some button. We cannot prompt the 'Save' dialogue without the click event for Security reasons in Flex (Workaround). But my client hates this process because its two steps and he want it in one step like normal file download with only 'Save' dialogue. Then I tried the second option.
2) navigateURL. Open a new windows make a post url request for to JSP/Servlets and prompt the 'Save' dialogue. The problem I am facing here is the pop-up window does not close once the download is complete. navigateURL does not return any reference to the window to close the window. I even tried different content types and headers and java script but none seems to work. The window closes when it is a single file and not for the tar or zip file. I would like to download the popup window for any type of downloads. I am using IE7.

I have a group of 16 images that I would like to load 1 of each into each movieclip. I want image1 to be inside of visual1, image 2 inside of visual2, and so on. the images are named like, 1960s_(1).png where the 1960 (year) part is coming from the rangeNum variable. The above gives me this error: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addChild through a reference with static type int.
