Is it possible to create an instance of the main MXML and use it inside the ActionScript class.public var obj:classname= new classname();When i try to call a components id through obj.textfieldID... it does not..
i want to create instance of mxml (in my case EventList) and pass parameters. My Event List is a list of panels so I want to pass parameters and generate dynamically n number of panels (n-parameter to pass). I have the main app where I have toggle button bar when I click on the first I want for example to generate 3 panels (n=3) on the second button 20 panels (n=20) etc.How can I do this? How can I pass n and what is the best way to show the list? I whant to generate the list when I click on the toggle button!
When I define custom propertie in my MXML component, I also want to define a set of possible values of that property to make Flex Builder show then (possible values of the custom property) when I invoke code completion function.
im trying to figure out what is better for run-time, creating components in MXML or by SCRIPT?. I built an app that recieves data from a server without knowing how much data exactly. In worst case scenerio , ill need 10 LABELS and 2 DATAGROUPS.But i usually need something like 3 LABELS and 1 datagroup. what is better? creating all components in advance and than not include in layout the ones i dont need, or make some checks and then create only the components i need by script? I made some tests , but it wasnt really decisive, run-time was pretty much simillar.Im guessing it must be stated somewhere what is better. Does anyone have an answer for me?
Does creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?
Is there any opensourse, free set of components for creating Flex mxml graphs? like aviary Peacock style ones with at least Drag, drop, and connect generators so each graph element could have or something like that. Framework should be opensource (like GPL, LGPL etc) BTW: I found one wary bacic made by Erno Aapa with Degrafa but I would really love to see something much more Flex 4 - mxml oriented and frienfdly.
I am creating a SWF file using a MXML file. The MXML file define several MX:Button and uses an external stylesheet to style them. There is a problem I am facing at the moment, I am aiming to style the buttons in a way that is similar to the way I can style HTML button elements. However, I could not achieve such look and feel. For example, I could not find a way to define the color and thickness of the borders for each side of the button (top, bottom, left, right), the background color, the margins, the padding, the width, and the height of the button. Also, selector such as hover, active, focus are not available. I was only able to change the size and the font color of the button successfully.
Does MXML get compiled down to as3 and then converted to flash bytecode? Also, is there a significant performance penalty to compiling mxml vs compiling as3?
I am working on a custom Flex 4 component which is an aggregation of two existing flex components. I would like to be able to specify my own custom properties for the component as well as access the existing public subcomponent properties via MXML. For instance I might want to adjust the font color or style for the label and text input. toy component which aggregates both a label and a text input:
I am trying to override a Button class, i have a few properties which i wish directly initialise with the mxml description of the component, like :[code]which function is triggered ( in order to override it ) when all properties with mxml description is fully initialised with their values ?
What I'd like to do: create an MXML component with some children, then extend it via MXML to create a new component with more children, without losing the original set.In other words
create a component bc.mxml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:BorderContainer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
I have a number of GUI dialogs defined using MXML. Assuming these mxml objects have been compiled into my application, is there any way to instantiate these objects using ActionScript, sort of like this?[code]...
A Flex components values are initlized by init methord. In an application flow, How to refresh a mxml component data value ; as init is callled at the start up it self only.
eg. of mxml componet may be as simple as button label or text as complex as repeater whose data provider is a web service ( means a fresh quesy should be made to pull the data and refresh the dataprovider of repeater )
suppose i have 3 buttons(for example say, productin, marketing, sales ) on my main.mxml..once i click on one button it should take me to abc.mxml page with production data, once again if i click on second button it should take me to the same abc.mxml but with marketing data. same as for 3rd button also, how can i achieve this ?
I've been trying to create a custom mxml component that extends another custom mxml component (i.e.MyMXMLComponent -> BaseMXMLComponent -> Group). I've been reading that trying to add visual children to MyMXMLComponent caused error with Flex 3 but that's no longer the case with Flex 4.
What I want to know is whether this is a supported/fixed/documented feature of Flex 4? or just some undefined behavior in Flex 4 that may get changed with future updates?
if this is supported and documented feature, does anyone have link pointing to adobe document stating it as such?
This is a project I'm working on for a simple demo tutorial application in Flex. I am using mxml pages. You can see to the left that I will have my main application and then other mxml files (In the Examples Package) as the examples that will be loaded into the main application mxml. How can I dynamically pull the value from the object in the list to load the child mxml file into the container that I have further down in the application?
I would like to include an MXML file in my MXML file in the same way you can include an external file in AS3 using the include directive. Using the include directive brings the code from the external file into the original file at compile time placing it in the same scope. For example,
var page1:Branch = new Branch(); page1.y = 124; addChild(page1);
I want to have the value "page1" to be dynamic, along with "Branch". Since there's a number of templates (up to 20), Branch is one of the templates. So it would be nice to use one instance creator. Also, I'm not sure how to get "page1" to be a dynamic value.
The closest to this that I've been able to find is:
star1sp.addChild(this["star"+star1Num]);
except that it doesn't fully address what I want to do. I tried adding in a bunch of "this[load_page]" and "this["page"+curpage]" to my code but had no success. I'm still on the prowl for the answer but wanted to put this out there. It's something I've tried to figure out for some time.
I am having some problems with creating different instance of the same class in as2..Pretty sure this should work in as3, so I'm not sure exactly.[code] I thought using the new keyword should create a new object independent of other instances..unless constructors are static in as2 and i just didn't know it.
I'm currently working on a little practice .fla file I've been working on. What I have now is an altered version a 'game' I made recently. I wanted to see if it was possible to create a new instance and color by having the user drag the object into the black (target) area. In short I want the user to drag one of my shapes (movieclips) and while keeping the original shape in place, move the copy version into the target and have the copy change to a different random color. Attached is a copy of my file.
Here is code I have thus far, I have tried a few options but they seem to throw off my application.
var counter:Number = 0; square.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, moveObject); square.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,releas eObject); circle.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,move Object);
When I try to create a new instance of a class that I created from a symbol in the library, I get a 1010 (A term is undefined and has no properties) error. I gave it a class name in it's linkage properties and it extends MovieClip. Is there anything else that I'm supposed to do? Maybe it's a syntax error when I'm creating an new instance of the class. It used just like any other class or datatype, right?
I've always wrote all my code into the .fla and now I'm trying to use classes more. I have my file loading the document class. Then the document class imports two additional classes. In my constructor of the document class I am creating a new instance of both additional classes. Here is my doc class:
[Code]...
Now inside of the other two classes I should be able to just use main_class.myFunc(); Correct? Why isn't is working? How can I interact classes? If I create a new instance to the class I want to access then I get a stack over flow error. Inside remoting class in the constructor my code; main_class = new CheckoutMain(); main_class.myFunc();
