Flex :: Disable Shift-click In AdvancedDataGrid With AllowMulitpleSelect Enabled?

I have an AdvancedDataGrid for which I would like to allow multiple selection. Do to several constraints, I want to disallow selecting items that are next to each other (Basically, you can't select multiple items with the same parent and parents are handled differently from children). My preference would be to stop event propagation when the shift modifier is present on the mouseDown or click event. I tried using event.stopImmediatePropagation(), but the selection has already occurred (I tried stopping mouseDown, click, itemClick, and change).
I am guessing I will need to extend the ADG and override some functions. Does anyone have any ideas to stop this before it modifies the selectedItems array without having to create my own ADG class? Or can anyone point me in the right direction (read: which functions do I need to override in ADG) if I do need to extend ADG?

If you press a keyboard key on an ADG the selected row moves to the first line it finds whose first column cell's text starts with the character you just pressed. Does anyone know if there's a property to turn that behavior off?

Lets say i have a button on frame 1. And if you press it normal, you ll get to frame 2. But then if you click it on another way, you ll get to frame 3. How do i do that easy?! With another way i mean like shift click or ctrl click or is it an easier way?

simple (?) question: what's the easiest way to programmatically change the style of an ADG cell most recently clicked by the user? Important note: I'm assuming cells not to editable and the selection mode to be singleRow, i.e. the specific cell needs to render differently from the standard highlight that comes with being part of the selected line.

Based on this guide, I have enabled debug level logging and also enabled date, time, level and category logging.
This works great, except now I am seeing all my data that's returned being logged. Is there a way to disable this? I would still like to see the calls logged. I've tried info level, but that turns off request logging.

I've recently taken Krilnon's tutorial on interactive image panning, and have a need for more complexity. My image to be panned (relative to user's mouse movement) has several 'hot spot' buttons placed within. Each hot spot, when clicked, is to smoothly zoom and shift within the mask, with pertinent info displayed next to each, once zoom and shift is complete. almost like I'm making a motion tween, where the final position is known, but the start position is wherever the BG image is when the user clicks the nested button. I am wondering how can one stop the user from clicking on a button (MC) without using btn.enabled = false.example: i have a menu that has buttons which have tweens on rollover and onRelease events. I want to be able to click on home for e.g. disabling all other buttons to avoid user clicking but still keep the rollover. I have tried btn.enabled = false and of course i dont want to disable the entire btn and instead i want to disable just the onRelease event or even avoid the mouse from clicking until the animation finish. Only Then, user can click on another menu button.

I have a character, And in its movieclip I`ve got 3 frames (first has an idle pose, second a walking pose and third a running pose), each with a movieclip with an action in it.Well, what I wanted is that when I am walking with this character, and press the SHIFT key he runs.And I`ve got the following code

I know that you can use the context menu using a right-mouse-click in a control to choose to cut, copy, paste, etc. I've also noticed that you can use the windows keyboard shortcuts CTRL-C for Copy and CTRL-V for Paste.
Windows supports native CTRL-Insert (for copy) and SHIFT-Insert (for paste).
However, within Flex, it seems these do not appear to work. Has anyone been able to either allow these keyboard events?

I want to make a button disabled if a datagrid is empty and it should be enabled when there is atleast 1 entry. The entries in the grid are made at runtime. I tried this this is the button:

I'm using Flex 4 and I need to render the data that resembles HTML Table with row span in a Flex component.My inclination was to use a DataGrid but I believe that rowSpan is not supported for that component. I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns. Looking to see if there are any hints/tips for modifying the DataGrid or AdvancedDataGrid to produce an "HTML Table with rowspan" look.

I have implemented drag and drop between 2 AdvancedDataGrid, but the default behaviour from Flex displays the row data during the drag using the grid item renderer showing all 5 columns.
Instead, I would like to display an icon / image or my own custom item renderer during the drag and drop.

I'm currently learning Flex, and am having the hardest time getting scroll bars to work. In short, I'm making a giant form for users to fill out, contained within a viewstack component. The user will type up information in one view, and it will be displayed in the other. But right now in the first canvas I have components that run off the screen and flex doesn't automatically add a scroll bar, so I added 'verticalScrollPolicy="on"' to my canvas. Now, while it gives me a scroll bar, it gives me an empty scroll bar. I still cannot move it up or down, meaning components are still trapped off the bottom of my screen. Am I missing something simpleEdit - I'm using Adobe Flex Builder 3, and the components it lets you drag in. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/218/problem1f.jpg This is a picture of the problem, and i guess relavent code would be.

I have a list that uses a checkbox itemrenderer. The dataprovider is a collection of people. When I load the data from a file, each list item shows the person's name (last, first -- labelFunction), and the checkbox's selected property shows the person's included property. I.e.,Smith, Doug - [x]Williams, Bob - [ ]orris, Anne - [x]However, each person also has an active property. I want to disable the checkbox for people who are inactive (meaning, "you can't include inactive people").to do the same thing in a datagrid. However, none of them work and all the checkboxes are enabled regardless of the person's active status. Here is my basic code:

In my flex application I have several pop ups, when a pop up is opened the application is disabled and enabled back when the pop up is closed.Is there way to get application's enabled / disabled event and perform some activity like hiding a display object.I know, I can get open and close event of the pop up but I don't want to write it for all the pop ups and pay for maintainability.
PS: I am using PopUpManager to create pop ups.

I have a Label in AS3 that I want to be selectable (.selectable = true) AND I want the clipboardMenu to show up on right-click ALONG with custom menu items.
If I do THIS:

The label IS selectable - however ONLY the clipboard menu items are present.
How can I both make the label selectable AND have a menu with my custom items + standard clipboard items?
BTW - this is with an AIR application using the 3.2 SDK.

I have a Spark Component (a Group) which doesn't behave as wanted.The tooltip is only shown when the component is enabled=true which the following example shows:
