Flex :: Drag Manager - Access The Target Of Dragging Event In DragDropHandler?

I'm making a Matching Game where I have some images on my left and I can drag them onto images on my right and if they are matching, they should both disappear from the stage.

findMatch() is a function that finds in my XML file the path of the file that matches the file that is being dragged. Having that path, I send it to dragEnterHandler where it compares it with the path of the dropTarget file and if they are the same, it accepts it. Then in dragDropHandler, I'm changing the source path of my second image to "", so that it disappears from the stage. How can I access the first file (the one that was being dragged), so that I can change its path to "", to get rid of it?

how would you prevent dragging for some items of your List or DataGrid?
Let's say I had a list with two items: 'Tom' and 'Jerry'. Only 'Tom' should be dragable, not 'Jerry'.
Ideally I had a 'isDragEnabled(item:Object):Boolean' function, which is being queried by the drag source.
My difficulties start with the fact that the 'dragStart' event handler has a null value for the dragSource, so right from the start I find it hard to find out what the drag-start is about..
PS There have been a few discussions on preventing or canceling a drop, but I haven't seen much about preventing the drag start, hence this question.

My question is simple. Let's say I have 2 List Controls. 1 of Users and 1 of Tickets. (The 2 Sources). And I have a DataGrid (the target). Is possible to select 1 user and 1 ticket in the 2 list mentioned before and drag & drop them at the same time to the DataGrid? I know it's not as simple as they are going to get automatically mixed.. If it is possible... I would have to use the DragEnter Event of the Datagrid or something to mix them and create my dataProvider. But I don't know how you can drag & drop 2 items at the same time from different sources. It is possible with one source.. But no idea of how to do it with 2 sources.

I have a list with itemrenderer with dragEnabled true and dropEnabled true. Now, I am trying to tell flex not to let the dragged item (even the icon indication) leave the drop panel. I don;t care if it stop the dragging or just freezes it as if it was the application border - and I cannot. I tried to stop the dragging on dragExit handler but it seems to ignore it. Does anyone know of a working mechanism to do such? (Flex 4)

I have the following code
TransitionManager.start(babyPreloader,{type:Fade, direction:Transition.OUT, duration:0.5, easing:Regular.easeOut});

But since this does not wait for the transition to complete. I cannot see the transition happening. Is there a way to have a even listener for transition complete?

My button try didn't work because I'm already pressed down on another button (the one I'm dragging).

I have a custom component with a couple of text input fields (among other things) that is used as the row components in a tree. I have had to write my own drag and drop handling, and have almost finished the start handler (which I did last), using mouseDown as the event to kick if off.It basically works, but when the tree is expanded enough so that a scroll bar shows, using the scroll bar drags a row of the tree at the same time ! Not the desired behaviour.Looking in the debugger, I can see that when a row of the tree is dragged the currentTarget is the tree itself, and the target is the textInput component. Looking at the parents of that component I can see my custom component (that contains the textInput) a couple of levels up.My question is, is there an easy way to determine if this target is descended from my component, so that I can initiate a drag only if that is the case ? event.target is doesn't work by the way.

I came to the point where I need to communicate between 2 objects (let's say Tank and the Cannon). It is tile game, and when the Tank approach specific tile I need my Cannon to shot the Tank. When Tank gets that specific tile I want to dispatch some custom event and have listener in Cannon class body to make the shot happen. Other way I would have to check in ENTER_FRAME loop (inside Cannon body class) if the Tank touched tile that runs the Cannon shooting - but this is not elegant and efficient. The issue is complicated by the fact that the Cannon and Tank are added to the Engine (document class) and can't simply hear for each other, because they seat on the same level in display list.
Initially I could addEventListener to the Engine, but this way my document class would enlarge to the XXL size (all listeners functionality, all methods for game etc). What I would accomplish is to have event listener in every Cannon object (defined in body class) listening for Tank's dispatching the event. I saw some 'Centralized Event Manager' article in the net, but can't download full classes [url]...

Is it possible to handle keystrokes WHILE dragging? I found this to be impossible, because hitting a key always fires an "onRelease" or "onReleaseOutside" event on the dragged movieclip when releasing the key - intterupting the drag operation. What I want to do is something like this: Drag and Drop a Movieclip and while dragging it I want to be able to flip it with a keystroke.

I have several drag and drop interactions in which they get points if they drag it to the correct position. The problem is they can move it out and back again to keep adding points to their score. I need to put some code in the correct portion of the drag and drop code that will make the word stay where it is when it's correct instead of letting them drag it again.

I have run into a drag and drop issue .I have an item that I would like to drag and drop. Seems simple enough, but I also want to make it that if the user drags the image off the screen, that it stops dragging and returns the image to the center of the screen. What happens now is that it continues dragging and sticks to the cursor if you release outside of the viewable area. The original piece has a lot of other things going on, so I ve created a simple piece with the AS in the timeline that shows only this particular issue.

I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:

It is only targeting the movie clip, not the buttons inside the movie clip.

i'm new to flash AS3. I am trying to create an drag drop activity where the user can match words and meanings by dropping and dragging into the right space. At the moment I want to create multiple drop areas for the boxes. At the moment they will only fall within their own target area - also only the boxes move and not the text. I made a swf that interacts with other site on the internet (which has a crossdomainfile for me).in the main.mxml there is a definition of webservice (mx:WebService)(which is not in my domain). Therefore when loading the swf, there is a first call to crossdomainfile.xml.I put this swf on my server so that my clients can get it.
When i connect to my server to download the swf, i expect to be asked if i want to allow the swf connect to foreign webservice domain.Do i always need to define exception in Global Security Settings panel?I don't want my client do define special things..Is there a best practice for that? Why when i surfing the net other swf can do this? I read about the FlashPlayerTrust, can i define there a website i trust my swf will connect to?
