I have an AdvancedDataGrid. One of the columns in the grid displayed with help of custom render. During the application run, I set another custom render to the same column.When I scroll data in the grid (change values for the custom renders) they display new view correctly.I want that they dispaly new view automatically (when I set them): so I think I have to call them and tell tham to refresh rgeir views.
View 1 RepliesI am having the (apparently common) problem, where my flash file won't update its XML source when I make changes. I've research this, and learned that I need to add a unique reference to the loader, to "fool" the browser into reloading the XML each time.
However, I'm not sure exactly where to put the unique variable. Here's my XML loading code.

When updating the data provider for a menu bar component, the state of the menu items fails to update until the user interacts with the menus (rolls the mouse over them, clicks them, etc). For example, a disabled item remains enabled until the user roll the mouse over it. Is there a way to force a menu 'refresh' after modifying the data provider XML?

View 7 RepliesI made a web which contains some video streaming from a flv file. The thing is that all the flv file is kept in the browser's cache, and that's a problem, because every time the video file is updated, the browser (Firefox, Opera...) keeps on loading it from the cache.
Is there any piece of AS (1.0) which prevents it from loading from the cache? Or (even better): is there any way to keep it from being kept in any browser's cache folder?

I need some help? Anyone experience this problem before with IE8 FLASH bug? Can not get this to work on all subsequent refresh to the flash. I have a flash piece which simply renders only on the first initial load. After that, if i refresh or visit the page, it does not load correctly. It seems I am having this problem with the swf only on subsequent loading of the page or whenever a refresh happens.

I'm trying to make a simple flash application providing interface for taking tests as a high school assignment. One of the requirements is to use an XML file as data source.Now, having a List component bound to the XML file with questions consisting of data such as question body, question type (ie. single choice, multiple choice, open, image etc.) and possible answers (where applicable), I was wondering if I could add some additional data (and what is the best possible way to do so) to each question upon its transfer to the List component.
I am trying to achieve two main goals with this: firstly, to mark the questions to which an answer has already been given, like with such code in ItemRenderer class:

Where data.color would be set whenever the user gives an answer to a question.
Secondly, while at it, I thought of such possibility as a great way to store answers given to particular questions. In this case, the Class of the answer object would have been Object, since there has to be many type of questions (where the answer could also be a Bitmap for example).

When a custom component is made visible based on some condition, the first item (either text or formitem or textarea) inside the component is skipped by Jaws. It reads from the second item. On pressing UP arrow, the first item is then read. Is there a way to make the first item accessible without need for pressing UP arrow?
View 1 RepliesI have created a custom item renderer for the tree, i have added some children in create children function, my problem is that sometimes i need to show these children and sometimes i don't, depending on clicking on a button which also i have added at create children, the problem is that i had to create the item even if i don't want it to be visible, and removed it by making visible false, and this costs a lot of memory, i have tried to create it at buttons click listener but when scrolling the child disappears, and it may appear again if i keep scrolling up and down.. i am trying to add the child just when i need it to be visible, is this possible or i have to create it on child creation method?

View 2 RepliesI'm using a List control. In the renderer of the List control I've got a Repeater. Each Repeater can have a different number of items. Adding to the complexity, one of the components being repeated in the repeater is a Text control that has long text that will wrap, increasing it's height. I need to expand the height of the List completely so that there's no vertical scrollbar. How can I do this?
I tried an extremely dirty attempt at calculating the Lists height based on the data source. From the data source I can figure out the number of repeater items and the number of items in each repeater in the List's renderer. But there's no way to compensate for the wrapping of the text in the Text control.

In flex when I allow user to download a file using :

Is there a way to ensure that the downloaded file always ends up with the extension .tar or any other extension for that matter? By default I give it a name like xyz.tar, but as of now the user can tamper with filename, including its extension. Can I prevent him from doing so?

I've got a small action-script chart, that's meant to be live updating, and also be able to support more than 10000 points of data. The way it's currently set up it doesn't need to redraw the whole chart if the new line we wish to add doesn't extend that chart's boundaries. Yet it does, the redraw regions show the whole chart as being redrawn as opposed to the single line i need to add. When the chart gets a new piece of data from the javascript it does the following.(some stuff has been stripped for clarity.[code] Is there any better way to do that, that won't redraw the whole screen? Is my coding pattern wrong for this type of update?

For instance, I have a HDividedBox with percentHeight and percentWidth set to 100. On the left hand side of the divided box is a data grid and on the right side is a number of text inputs. The divided box is not added to the view stack until after the user logs on.
If I resize the app before the HDividedBox is added then the box takes up the full size of the app, whatever that may be. However if i resize the app after the box appears then the box retains the same dimensions it does when it was first added.
I would have expected that on the resize of the app then all the children would redraw (the application component itself appears to).

What I want to do is, when I select an item in the datagrid, the selected item of the dropdown should be the correct one (the one which has the field idCompSuperioara equal to the third element in the selected datagrid row).
I'm creating a mobile app in which I need to show a calendar with months at the top. The months are part of a component that extends from SkinnableDataContainer (and has some custom scrolling/behaviour - which is why I did'nt use a spark list). I need the months to be shown as a 'trapezium' shaped tab and so I'm using a png image as a mask in the item renderer for the component.
When the mask is not applied, it all works well - the months render, the list/data container selection works when I click on a month and so on.When the mask is applied, it renders well, scrolling and everything else seems to work well - but when I click on a month, nothing happens visually. And from the trace statements in my code, it appears list item selection is not changing. Looks like mouse clicks are not working.

I have used states in my application.The thing is I have made the first item in my list to be selected. so I gave like this,

this works fine.The problem is when other item is selected the first item does not change its state,it remains in the selected state until its clicked.My code looks like this,
