Flex :: Flex Forcing Resizing When The Image Source Update Is Completed?
May 31, 2009
I have what seems a straighfoward situation: I update the source property of an image, when the image is loaded i want to redraw the border skin to fit the new size of the image.
newImgEdit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadImgComplete);
newImgEdit.source = myurl_ressource;
private function loadImgComplete(evt:Event):void {
I need to do some updates to components after a user has resized the browser window. Is there a good solution to determine when a user has completed resizing? I wasn't able to find any flex events that would cover this case.
I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image
I can;t figure out how to do this. Someone selects and image after calling FileReference.browse(). I take that image and make a thumbnail in flash. Then I upload that image like so:
[Code]...
All this does it upload the original image. How do I change the fileRef to upload the new thumb? I have traced out the size of the "myThumbImage" and it is correct. I have placed it visually on the stage after creating the thumb, and it seems like it works. But when I upload it to an aspx page (that basically just throws it into a folder), it uploads the original larger image.
I have created a image cropping tool in flex using core copyPixel method.croppedBitmapData.copyPixels(croppedBitmapData, clipCan, new Point(0, 0));I have to crope area of dementions 20*20 and show this cropped area in an image of demention 250*350. Every thing going well.My problem is image distortion.Even i am using this method for smoothing image contents on complete.
private function smoothImage(event:Event):void { var bitmap: Bitmap = ((event.target as Image).content as Bitmap);
I want to change the image at click event.I change the source of the image on click but its not reflecting immediately it comes when any other event is fired.
In Flex, how to assign swf as image source at runtime, not embedding it.[Bindable] public var myImg:String;<mx:Image id="intImg" source="{myImg}" width="96%" height="96%" />In my application, I fetch image url dynamically from a web service call, and assign it to "myImg". But until I don't get the response from the web service call, I want to show a loader swf in image control above. I assigned something like:myImg = "assets/AS3.swf";and the path of swf is correct, but it doesn't show up.UPDATE:The code I've shown above works perfectly in a Flex 3 app but the swf does not show up in a Flex 4 app. Is it because Image control has dropped the support for swf in Flex 4 ?
I have an image which its source depends on a bindable property of another object.I'd like to know when this source changes, for example, by capturing the bind event or another related event of the Image control.
I would like to display an Image using a Bitmap as source. I've looked at many websites and most suggest something akin to this but somehow it still doesn't work....img1 works fine... But img2 doesn't load for some reason.
private function onComplete(event:Event):void{ bytes = event.target.data; img1.source = _bytes; /*this last bit works*/[code]....
I have a TileList that's loaded with data from Flickr. The tilelist uses an imageRenderer to make a bunch of thumbnails. I'm trying to create a custom drag and drop function, but I want to get the image source of the tilelist mouseEvent target. Here's what the code looks like for the drag handler:
I am trying to display a bytearray as a resized image. The Image is displaying correctly, but the sizing is off. Let me explain.
First I have the image data encoded so I need to decode the image data
// Instantiate decoder var decoder:Base64Decoder = new Base64Decoder(); // Decode image data
[Code]....
This works. The image is displayed correctly. However, if I hardcode the image (img) height the resized image is shown correctly, but within a box with the original image's dimensions.
For example, if the original image has a height of 300px and a width of 200px and the img.height property is set to 75; the resized image with height of 75 is shown correctly. But the resized image is shown in the upper left corner of the img container that is still set to a height of 300px and a width of 200px. Why does it do that? And what is the fix?
The best way to illustrate the problem is by placing the image inside a VBox and show the borders of the VBox. From the code block above, if I change the image height and set the image to maintain aspect ratio (which by default is set to true but I add it here for completeness). the problem becomes clear.
// Display image var img:Image = new Image(); img.height = 75; // Hardcode image height (thumbnail) img.maintainAspectRatio = true;
I have a main.mxml application that lays out my application, it contains a "browse and upload" button. And contains an image to view the users uploaded image like so:
<mx:Application <mx:Script> <![CDATA[
[Code].....
In my myModel class I have a img_scld_bm that the browseAndUpload() function draws into after scaling it.
My intent is that my mx:Image will display the image. As shown here I'm assigning the image source="mymodel.img_scld_bm", this ends up just showing a broken image icon.
I also tried data binding, where in my myModel class I have [Bindable] var img_scld_bm. And then tried setting my mx:Image source="{myModel.img_scld_bm}" .. that didn't seem to do anything either. All this compiles fine, no warnings. I think in this case, I'm not setting a trigger or propertyChange event to update the binding?
how to correctly bind an mx:Image source to some bitmap?
Currently I have a for loop which goes through and draws a really long list of objects. Each object is contained in its own sprite and as it draws them I wanted to have a text box saying "Ojects" + nObjectsTotalLoaded + " of " + nObjectsTotal + " have been Loaded." Right now I am timing out because my loops takes so long, but i figured that if I have a textbox updating as it creates each object that it will also fix my problem with timeout.
I am presuming this is because the image hasn't finished reading the png file off the disk yet. What event can I monitor to know when it's width and height will have the right values? The 'Complete' event only seems to work for DOWNLOADED images. The 'Render' event happens EVERY FRAME. The (undocumented?) 'sourceChanged', happens as soon as source changes, and has the same problem! What event do I watch that will let me know when the image's width and height properties will have valid values? Or is there some Synchronous version of I.source='xxx.png', that I don't know about?
P.S. Yes, I know I shouldn't use "C:" in an Air Program. This was just for illustrative purposes, so that you won't suggest I use "Complete", which never even seems to fire when the file indicated by source is local.
I am using a mx:Resize effect to change the width of an image in Flex (leaving the height to look after itself) but I want the image to remain vertically centered on the page. Whilst I could calculate the aspect ratio of the photo, and work out the new y value to keep it centred, I would have to include a mx: Move effect too, and I am hopful that Flex has a simpler way. This is for a photo gallery where images are loaded at run-time, and swapped about.
So I really would like to avoid recalculating the aspect ratio and vertical position every time the updateComplete event fires, I tried putting my image inside a mx: VBox with verticalAlign="middle", thinking that the box would do all the centering for me, but this only seems to happen when the app first starts - i need it to gradually adjust the position during the period where the effect plays (to keep it central even when part-way through).
I'm trying to make an existing FLEX application section-508-compliant, by getting it to work smoothly with the JAWS screen reader. It kinda sorta works, but one immediate problem is that when you first go to the login screen, your cursor ends up in the userid field, but JAWS doesn't read anything useful (like the label of the field you're in!) until you hit TAB or something. Is there a way to force it to speak immediately on application startup, without making the user tab/backtab just to hear where they are?
For that matter, as cool as it is that it reads interactive controls as the user tabs around, sometimes you just need to make JAWS say something at a particular point in the logic, which might or might not be associated with a conrol... as if you could write AS code like "jaws.speak('');".
i have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it
So inside my src folder I have my app.mxml file. I have a source directory pointed to my actionscript library.It appears that Flex does not look inside that source directory including an .as file within the master mxml file.
I could just have the main app.as file inside the src folder along with my app.mxml file but it would be nice if it could live in the actionscript library.

In flex when I allow user to download a file using :
dwFile = new FileReference(); dwFile.download(downloadURL, dwFileName);
Is there a way to ensure that the downloaded file always ends up with the extension .tar or any other extension for that matter? By default I give it a name like xyz.tar, but as of now the user can tamper with filename, including its extension. Can I prevent him from doing so?
I'm trying to create a class that contains an array. However i want to require that the items in the array are themselves of a specific class. Im told there is some sort of tag you can add to do this, but for the life of me i cannot find what it is.What i hope for is something like:
public class myClass{ public var foo:String; [ArrayType(class="BarClass")]
i have a mx:AdvancedDataGrid control with animation on resize. And i need to resize another contol A accordingly with mx:AdvancedDataGrid size. But resizing of contol A is too slow.
Threrefore, the addition of resize handler is bad solution. I want to get the time when the animation is completely stopped either the new size of mx:AdvancedDataGrid control.
i am trying to modify during runtime an image in my application, this image is located inside assets folder, so thats why i dissable -use-network=false flag, then i call something like this:img.source="../assets/pict.png";but it's not working.
I have an AdvancedDataGrid. One of the columns in the grid displayed with help of custom render. During the application run, I set another custom render to the same column.When I scroll data in the grid (change values for the custom renders) they display new view correctly.I want that they dispaly new view automatically (when I set them): so I think I have to call them and tell tham to refresh rgeir views.
I've got a small action-script chart, that's meant to be live updating, and also be able to support more than 10000 points of data. The way it's currently set up it doesn't need to redraw the whole chart if the new line we wish to add doesn't extend that chart's boundaries. Yet it does, the redraw regions show the whole chart as being redrawn as opposed to the single line i need to add. When the chart gets a new piece of data from the javascript it does the following.(some stuff has been stripped for clarity.[code] Is there any better way to do that, that won't redraw the whole screen? Is my coding pattern wrong for this type of update?
Is there a simple way to force all the child components of a Flex app to redraw when that app is resized?
For instance, I have a HDividedBox with percentHeight and percentWidth set to 100. On the left hand side of the divided box is a data grid and on the right side is a number of text inputs. The divided box is not added to the view stack until after the user logs on.
If I resize the app before the HDividedBox is added then the box takes up the full size of the app, whatever that may be. However if i resize the app after the box appears then the box retains the same dimensions it does when it was first added.
I would have expected that on the resize of the app then all the children would redraw (the application component itself appears to).
