Flex :: Resizing FileReference Image Then Reuploading - Only Reuploads Original Image

I can;t figure out how to do this. Someone selects and image after calling FileReference.browse(). I take that image and make a thumbnail in flash. Then I upload that image like so:

All this does it upload the original image. How do I change the fileRef to upload the new thumb? I have traced out the size of the "myThumbImage" and it is correct. I have placed it visually on the stage after creating the thumb, and it seems like it works. But when I upload it to an aspx page (that basically just throws it into a folder), it uploads the original larger image.

The following code shows a button that allows you to select a file (should be an image) and display it into an image component. When I select an invalid image (e.g. unsupported image type, a word document), I get the following error:"Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.I know I can pass a FileFilter to the FileReference:browse call, but that's beyond the point. My question is... I want to handle the IOErrorEvent myself, what event listener am I missing?

I am trying to do an image uploader, user can:
- browse local file with button.browse
- select one and save it as a FileReference.
- then we do FileReference.load() then bind the data to our image control.
- after we make a rotation on it and change the data of image.
- and to finish we upload it to a server.
To change the data of image i get the matrix of the displayed image and transform it then i re-use the new matrix and bind it to my old image:

Now the mater is that i really don't know how to send the data as a file to my server cause its not stored in the FileReference and data inside FileReference is readOnly so we can't change it or create a new, so i can't use .upload();.Then i tried HttpService.send but i can't figure out how you send a file and not a mxml.

I am trying to display a bytearray as a resized image. The Image is displaying correctly, but the sizing is off. Let me explain.
First I have the image data encoded so I need to decode the image data

This works. The image is displayed correctly. However, if I hardcode the image (img) height the resized image is shown correctly, but within a box with the original image's dimensions.
For example, if the original image has a height of 300px and a width of 200px and the img.height property is set to 75; the resized image with height of 75 is shown correctly. But the resized image is shown in the upper left corner of the img container that is still set to a height of 300px and a width of 200px. Why does it do that? And what is the fix?
The best way to illustrate the problem is by placing the image inside a VBox and show the borders of the VBox. From the code block above, if I change the image height and set the image to maintain aspect ratio (which by default is set to true but I add it here for completeness). the problem becomes clear.

I am using a mx:Resize effect to change the width of an image in Flex (leaving the height to look after itself) but I want the image to remain vertically centered on the page. Whilst I could calculate the aspect ratio of the photo, and work out the new y value to keep it centred, I would have to include a mx: Move effect too, and I am hopful that Flex has a simpler way. This is for a photo gallery where images are loaded at run-time, and swapped about.
So I really would like to avoid recalculating the aspect ratio and vertical position every time the updateComplete event fires, I tried putting my image inside a mx: VBox with verticalAlign="middle", thinking that the box would do all the centering for me, but this only seems to happen when the app first starts - i need it to gradually adjust the position during the period where the effect plays (to keep it central even when part-way through).
Here's a stripped-down example (which doesn't work):

i want to rotate 3D an Image called img1 in Flex. I want to rotate it around y axis 180 degree. I can do this by using 3D effect already built in Flex but i want to do a bit more different. I want during rotating, there's another image called img2 appear on back of img1 (in default case, the image appear on the back is img1) and when rotating finish, the image will be img2.

I started with a simple code to draw image. But i didn't get the expected results. i am currently creating a software, i need to upload images form my HDD to server. i can do this with FileReference Object. with this code i can select file.

f.browse(); // for selecting file (object)
and after that i will send that FileReference object to a PHP file and i upload via that PHP file.
but i want to upload file without using FileReference Class i am using File Class on Air 1.0 on Flash, and that class can provide full url of image from my HDD like: D:My Documentsimage01.jpg
there is any way to upload this file on my HDD to server without using browse() class for selecting file on Flash with PHP?
or is there one way to convert File Class (AIR) to FileReference?

I have a basic photo editor I am building in flash but I want the user to be able to load an image into flash before its output to the server. Can this be done or does it have to go to the server first then have flash load it from the server? Trying to avoid the overhead and traffic of sending it on place then downloading the same thing back.

I am currently using filereference in as3 to load a file from the users local disk and display instantly within a loader on the stage. This works fine but i am now needing to load files that are already stored on a server not the local disk, is this possible?
I have tried loading the url into a loader object but this takes far too long if the image is quite big where is filereference is almost instant.

Is there a way to set a default extension when saving an image using FileReference save method?

If windows is set to "hide known file extensions", only image without extension will be displayed in save dialog. File type is "*.*". Some of my users hat the great idea to add .jpg extension in filename, because they couldn't see one. So file was saved broken as image.jpg.

I am creating one desktop application of facebook.
So here I am getting streams from facebook post. So when any facebook application's long image link I am getting that I can't display in Image container, this is not displaying image.
One also fact is that, When I am giving this link directly then it is working.....

I have been racking my brains trying to figure out how to do this but I can't! The two pictures I have given are different sizes to represent different browser sizes. The 'menu' stays the same size in the same position and the image/ greyblock scales proportionally to the browser keeping the same border sizes around the image.

I know that one of the most frequently asked questions is on how to resize a movieclip to fit the dimensions of an image.
My question is similar, but kind of inverse;
I need to resize an image to fit in an empty mc.
