Jun 30, 2011I have a simple list and a background refresh protocol.When the list is scrolled down, the refresh scrolls it back to the top. I want to stop this.I have tried catching the COLLECTION_CHANGE event and validateNow(); // try to get the component to reset to the new datalist.ensureIndexIsVisible(previousIndex); // actually, I search for the previous data id in the IList, but that's not importantThis fails because the list resets itself after the change).I hate to use a Timer, ENTER_FRAME, or callLater(), but I cannot seem to figure out a way.The only other alternatives I can see is sub-classing the List so it can catch the dataProviderChanged event the DataGroup in the skin is throwing.

Now the thing is that I WANT THIS TXT CONTENT TO REFRESH AUTOMATICALLY... because I am actually loading txt file that's getting updated every few minutes, but flash content does not update, so the visitor must refresh page on go to some other page so the content will change again.
How do I make this work so that dynamic text in flash change whenever external txt file content change, without refreshing or changing the page.

Sep 30, 2010I had an issue with my index.html testing on IE and the preloader just stalls on "loading 0%". he told me that locally the progress event doesn't have time to load and to try uploading it to your server and see if it works. It worked just fine. Rah Rah Kglad.
So today I'm fine tuning the swf/ fla to clean it up. Reduced some picture sizes and deleted unused files and reduced the swf from 4000 KB to 350 KB Rah Rah Gene. replaced the swf in Dreamweaver and re-uploaded with Filezilla. Rah ah Filezilla.
Everything working great and my preload went from 23 seconds to less than 3. So I'm real happy except for one small issue. Firefox and IE both do this. If I hit the refresh button, it stalls on "loading 0%" once again just like it did locally.
If I hit the refresh several times it WILL refresh randomly....2 times refresh......10 times refresh etc.

Spoke to my hosting company who said everything seems fine on the server. BTW he said Chrome did NOT have this issue Rah Rah Chrome.

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

Any idea how I can get the same effect done in Spark Lists?

PHP :: Flex - Refresh Particular Tab Of TabNavigator?
Nov 3, 2009I am using a Tab Navigator component in which there are three canvas components. When I click one of the canvas (or tab), a Pie Chart is displayed. Actually what happens is that on-click
1. the canvas sends an HTTPService whose url is set to a php file
2. That php file actually gets information from a database. Based on that information an xml file is created
3. Fusion Chart uses that xml file to display a pie chart
The database is being updated after some time. Is there any way the Pie Chart may get updated after every 3 minutes to reflect the modifications in the database? or
Can I send the particular HTTPService again and again after every 3 minutes 'in background'? or
Is there any good way to update the information in a particular canvas (or tab) of Tab Navigator?

Apr 23, 2010I am writing a Flex application to receive xml from an httpservice. That works because I can populate a datagrid with the information. The xml sends image pathnames. A combobox sends a new HttpService call onChange. This repopulates the datagrid and puts new images in the folder that flex is accessing. I want to dynamically change the image without changing the pathname of the image.

My biggest problem is that the images are not refreshing. I get the same image even though I've prevented caching from the HTML wrapper and the ASP.Net website. The image automatically loads in the folder and refreshes in the folder but I can't get the image to refresh in the application. I've tried

delete(adTile.getChildAt(0));
And neither worked.
Flex :: Pageless Architecture - Any Way To Refresh Ads
Feb 4, 2011I've got a Flex 3 website. I set-up adBrite in an iFrame to serve ads, and it works fine. I've got 2 ad zones in 2 iFrames. My problem is that as Flex has a "pageless" architecture, I only get credit for one hit even if the user clicks every button on the site. In short, I get one pageview instead of several. adBrite said that if I can figure out a way to refresh the ads when the user selects a new item in my navigation menu, they're cool with it. They suggested just refreshing the whole app.
