I have a tree in Flex Application and one of the items is selected.
When a user clicks another item, I would like to make a check and possibly prevent the change of selection.
I tried catching click event and calling stopPropagation, and also itemClick with stopPropogation but both do not prevent selectedItem from changing.[code]...
I have a flex tree with dragMoveEnabled = true. I want to find out, when an item is dragged into itself or it's children. I'd like to use DragManager.showFeedback(DragManager.NONE) in the tree's onDragOver handler, but can't find out how get this to work. I'm using an ArrayCollection of nested objects as dataSource for the tree.

I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

I have a movieclip that I want to rollover to begin animation. I don't want the "finger" pointer so people aren't inclined to click it. i want to keep the default cursor.

I am using a flash swf from the website[url]...where it allows me to upload images via an xml file to the flash movie. However the flash movie is changing the mouse cursor to hand-cursor when passing the mouse on it, and also it is allowing users to click on the movie, while I wanted to leave the mouse cursor to remain as an arrow, and prevent users from clicking on it, I tried the following code, whereby I used another flash movie to call the dewslider swf, but in IE it is not working, although in firefox it is ok..[code]...

View 6 RepliesI have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?

View 4 RepliesI have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.

I am currently developing a dynamic LineChart in FLEX 4.I am implementing a Tree control next to my LineChart, which will filter the LineChart dataprovider and lineseries. The tree control has several branches and ultimately 5 children (leaf nodes) at the bottom of the last branch.I need the leaf node/children to be displayed as checkboxes inside the tree control.As I understand,this will require overrides in the TreeItemRenderer class.This is where I am a little confused on how to implement that.Currently I can distinguish between leaf and branches using this code, in my main MXML component.I added this because it may be helpful to some beginning FLEXdevelopers, such as myself, who cannot easily find this functionality documented well:

I am looking at the TreeItemRenderer override class from the following example here: In the example, they override the "createChildden" super function to add checkboxes to the tree control.My question is, can I override the createChildren function directly in my MXML component, and not have to use an entire class file to override this functionality? Must I re-invent the wheel to do this?Also, how can I distinguish that my treeItem is a leaf node and not a parent, in the override function? I only want to add checkboxes to the leaf nodes, how can I differentiate? The following example adds checkboxes to all branches and leaf nodes, but I want to add checkboxes only to leaf node/children. How would you approach that?

Anyone know how to change a single instance of an item renderer for a Flex tree item at runtime? If you have two text areas with different styles (fontFamily, weight, color etc) and you copy text from one to the other it also copies the style from the originating text area. Is there any slick way to prevent that?

I want to disable (and look disabled) some rows in a spark datagrid. I found this answer to stop selection which is greatIn flex, is there a way to capture and optionally cancel a row selection event in a DataGrid?
But I want in addition to show that the particular row is not selectable. Ideally I want to have some sort of overlay but I am not sure if that is possible. My alternative solution is to change the text color to grey for the unselectable row. Looking at the datagrid renders they all seem to be column based. I looked at skinning potentially (overriding the alternating color property) but this just sets the background property and not the text color.
