Aug 3, 2010In a spark list I could use the change event to find out which item has been selected or deselected. The dispatched IndexChangeEvent object has the properties newIndex and oldIndex holding this information.
But with multiple selection allowed this doesn't work anymore because newIndex and oldIndex could refer to indices of still selected elements.
A solution would be to copy the selectedIndices vector to another variable and compare this variable with selectedIndices after a change in selection, but this seems to be somewhat complex.
Does anyone know if there is an easy way two get the index/item a user is deselecting while other elements are still selected?
Flex :: AdvancedDataGrid Multiple Cell Selection Highlight Not Fully Clearing
Sep 23, 2010I've two problems, the second of which is only an issue because it's a possible way to fix the first! I'm developing a Flex 4.1 application, using a Spark theme: I can't change these; Halo isn't an option. It's providing the facility to fill multiple-selected cells of an AdvancedDataGrid with a single character, from a single keypress. So the user selects their cells using the Shift key, hits H (for example) and sees all the cells update with H, without using an itemEditor but via grid keyDown events instead. Then they click somewhere else and the selection should clear.
However the visible selection isn't fully cleared and the newly coloured cells won't all change from their selected colour. Underneath I can verify that the selection has cleared: mygrid.selectedCells is empty. All behaviour afterwards points to some kind of display glitch with the grid: The cells aren't selected any more but they look like they are.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Multiple Selection In A List?
Mar 24, 2010I have a populated list component with multiple selection enabled, on pressing a button i want to know all of the selections that have been selected. Instead i can only find the .getSelectedItem() thing, which only tells me the last selected thing. How would i do what i want to do?
Also, another thing. If i want to select a specific index of the list, how do i do that? I have tried

etc. non seem to work.

Aug 17, 2007I've added checkboxes to a list component using the cellrenderer however the behavior is different from what i expected. I'm only able to check one box in the list at a time. I need to be able to check mutiple boxes in the list.
I'm aware you could hold down the control key and select individual the checkboxes, but the application i'm developing is a touch screen aplication hence no keyboard, no control key. I've tried programmaticaly setting the selectedindicies but the checkboxes don't appear checked after the selectedindices have been set.

Aug 11, 2011I have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.

Flex :: Disable Selection Of A Row?
Sep 16, 2011I want to disable (and look disabled) some rows in a spark datagrid. I found this answer to stop selection which is greatIn flex, is there a way to capture and optionally cancel a row selection event in a DataGrid?
But I want in addition to show that the particular row is not selectable. Ideally I want to have some sort of overlay but I am not sure if that is possible. My alternative solution is to change the text color to grey for the unselectable row. Looking at the datagrid renders they all seem to be column based. I looked at skinning potentially (overriding the alternating color property) but this just sets the background property and not the text color.

Jan 16, 2011I am trying to programmatically pass focus to a newly created TextField, but for some reason setSelection and setFocus do not work. For example, see my test code below:

Jan 5, 2010I have a datagrid with 5 columns. The first column has checkboxs and rest four columns have data from the dataProvider.
I have two relating issues: First: I want the row to get selected when I click on a checkbox, or if i click on multiple checkboxes, every row should stay selected in the datagrid for whose checkbox is selected.
Second: If a row or multiple rows are selected, the corresponding checkbox should get selected too.

I thought to have found the solution, with just adding the column and row Indexes to the datagrids editedItemPosition Property.It turned out, that this is just practical if you want to be able to edit the grids row right away. I found some examples of how to bypass this during a drag function but it was not applicable for a text input.The problem is that when a user selects some text in textinput and mouses off the application area and then mouses up, I'm getting a problem that the textinput keeps thinking that the mouse down is actively selecting text in the textinput and continually overwrites the characters being entered in the textinput. in the search bar of the live store on the page, type some text, then highlight it all and don't let up on the mouse until you are outside the store.I finally hacked some junk together so I can tell if the mouse goes off the stage using some code like.

Oct 20, 2010I'm working on my first ever AIR application with flashbuilder - just so you know. I've bound a mx:DataGrid component to a DataProvider which is a mx:HTTPService fetching an xml file with items. To keep the data up to data I'm polling the webservice on a given interval.
My problem is that I loose the currently selected item in my DataGrid when the data is updated. I've tried to save the DataGrid.selectedIndex and set when the data is updated, but I'm not sure when to do it?! The closest I've come is to restore the index when the updateComplete event of DataGrid is fired. This works, but the selection first fades away and then fades in - not updated soon enough. So what is the best way to keep the selection? (only one selected item at a time) And as a side question: is there a convenient way to only update the data when it has actually changed?

I want to disable the hover and selection colors so when a user selects an item it's background won't change color. how is that possible. I do not want to choose the selection and hover colors. the background contains an image so it won't be useful. I need to completely disable the colors.

Flex :: Combobox Selection Inside Datagrid?
Mar 1, 2011I have a datagrid.In this datagrid I have a combobox item editor. This datagrid also has multiple columns where a user inputs numbers in each column. These numbers are then calculated by formula where the sum is posted in the "total" column. In this combobox there are two options for the user to choose from and each option has a different formula for calculating the inputted numbers. What I want is for when a user chooses "option 1" one formula is used to do the calculation, when "option 2" is chosen by the user then formula two is used to the calculation.Here's an example:
Combobox Option 1 (formula 1) is chosen by user = (Column2 - Column1) x column3 = "total" column
Combobox Option 2 (formula 2) is chosen by user = (Column1 - Column2) x column3 ="total" column
I realize you would use a conditional such as "if else" statement, but im just not sure how to do it. I've been trying to implement this for a while with no success.
