I have 2 questions about remote shared objects in Flex/ActionScript3:1) If I connect to a remote shared objects, but do not handle the SYNC event, will the shared object still receive data from the server? ie. will the server still broadcast data to this client ? This is what I expect
I'm planning on building a Flex based multiplayer game, and I'm researching what will be required for the server end. I have PHP experience, so I started looking at ZendAMF.
Now in this game, I'll need the concept of rooms, and real time updates to clients in those rooms, so it looks like I'll be using remote shared objects (correct, yes?). I'm not seeing where ZendAMF can support this.It seems to indicate that ZendAMF isn't going to do what I want. WebORB for PHP seems to be the only PHP based solution that does messaging, but on that page it doesn't mention "real-time" next to it like the Java based ones below it do.
We are going to develop a simple chatroom in flex using Red5.Should we store UserList in a Remote Shared Object or Server Side List? Are there any example exit on Red5 or FMS , which uses Server Side programming and Remote Shared Objects? Red5 examples are not documented at all.
I have the following application in flex. I want to call two different remote objects in parallel.
[Code]...
Now what the methods do is to print sth. when they are called, then wait 8 secs and print sth. after that. When clicking each button seperatly, it works, both methods are started in parallel. However, calling both method the same time, leaves one service to wait with its call while until the other is executing. How can I avoid that?
I am trying to understand what part of AS3 script says loop through(create a continues 360 loop of objects) the images from an XML file, does this make any sense.[code]is this the part that says loop the images/objects.this is a little more to the script including the above to maybe understand better?[code]
Is it possible to store instances of a class in a cookie or in shared objects.
Basically in my application I have an object "Diagram" that the user can create. If they hit save, I want to store the current instance as a cookie and allows them to reload it later.
Alternatively, I could see about getting them to store the saved version on the hard disk. But even then, all I want to save and retreive is my actionscript object.
I've tried storing the object to SharedObject.data.diag, but when I try to retrieve the object from the cookie doing SharedObject.data.diag as Diag returns null.
There is a small feature I have implemented that makes uses of the Local Shared Objects to work properly.
I wish to be able to help the user self-diagnose if he is unable to use the said feature because he refused access for this computer to writing local shared objects and give him instructions to work around the issue if it applies to him.
I'm looking for something similar to the muted property of the Microphone class [URL] or the Camera class.
I have a custom java class which has an ArrayList and corresponding to it have a custom vo class which has ArrayCollection (in Flex).I want to return data from Java to flex.Every variable in java is getting mapped to vo perfectly except for ArrayList. When trying to retrive When trying to retrive exposureUSDList (which is an arrayList) in flex I am getting empty ArrayCollection. It is not getting mapped properlyPlease find my code below:
How to clear the shared objects when user closes the browser abruptly? If the user opens the same application in two tabs, and user tries to close any one of the tab, we have to listen only the closed tab event.
I need to develop the HTTPS application using Flex and Java. But i have idea about remote objects or HTTPServices. which one is the best for developing HTTPS application.
When running a flash application that I run locallyie I get to it from a browser but with a file pathNow, most of the time the shared objects are stored in%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNetBut occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhostwhich means all previous saved settings are gone.I'm wondering if anyone knows how flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access)
When running a flash application that I run locally i.e., I get to it from a browser but with a file path file:///C:/Projects/test/bin-debug/Main.html#
Now, most of the time the shared objects are stored in %APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNet
But occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost %APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhost Which means all previous saved settings are gone.
How flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access). Rebooting can sometimes make it revert, but I've also had it stay localhost for a few days then revert.
I was trying to observe how some of the top browser game makers are implementing the asset management and also study their animation techniques. So I was trying to crack my browsers cache and share-object paths to peep into the assets. What I have noticed is that all the files are hashed or encrypted with unreadable names and all of them have .sol extension example somethingbigandunredable.png.sol or somethinglesebigandhugtring. swf.sol and so on.I thought they are just suffixed with .sol and just removed the .sol and tried to open the png but its neither showing the previw nor opening in the browser. Same with the swf file.So I was wondering if there is any way to peep into their assets. I am aware of swf decompiler tool (currently using) which can extract only the unecrypted swfs.
I am working on an Adobe Flex front-end with a Java back-end using JPA for persistence. he protocol I am using is remote objects (AMF) implemented with BlazeDS.I started out with a service-facade and entity DAOs, but without any specific DTOs. The same POJOs, the domain objects, were passed in the service-facade as those used as DTOs passed to the Hibernate DAOs.However, the latest few days I have been thinking whether this is a good approach or not. The latest article on the subject I read was this one:Interesting JPA Pattern blogThe situation:Say I have POJO Book with a unidirection ManyToOne relation with the POJO Category (i.e. each book may only be associated with one category, but the same category may be associated with many books). I see some alternatives:Alternative 1:I expose a method/operation addUpdateBook(Book book). In the implementation of this operation I add/update both the book and the referenced category.
How to acces remote shared object from other class?
I have
package { import flash.net.*; import flash.display.*; public class Main extends Sprite {
[Code].....
I would like to add some data or modify shared object. How can I acces _sharedBoardObject from another class? Or maybe I need to connect to "sharedBoard02" directly?
I need to move two figures on the stage with shared object like the "Tutorial shared Object ball" on the adobe website but with more than one figure. All the client must see the figures moving. The figure are a circle (Cerchio) and a square (Quadrato). This is the script:
I am using FMS3 and Flash CS3 (actionscript2) in a Flash based whiteboard application. Multiple users can join this whiteboard. I want to save chat text and drawing in same sequence as live time. I am using persistant remote shared object to save these data. But when i try to replay these data its not showing in same squence as live . I am generating unique slot for chat and drawing but still same error occuring.
I'm having trouble connecting to a remote persistent shared object. When I run from the Flash authoring environment it works. But when I run it from a browser it doesn't. The code attaches an event listener to the sync event, and then calls so.connect(nc).
As mentioned - it works inside Flash authoring only. In both cases the connection to the server is successful. I also tried setting client.readAccess to "/" in the application.onConnect function of the server-side code - but it doesn't help. (Everything was written by me including the server-side application code. I have full control and access to the server).
Also, I can see the remote object exists on the server in the admin console. And as mentioned, when running inside Flash CS5 - the onsync gets triggered after connecting to the shared object. But, the same code under a browser - doesn't trigger the onsync. The SharedObject.getRemote method on the client side returns an object on both occasions.
clarify the different logical instantiations of objects in actionscript? So far it seems there are 3 layers of instantiations, for lack of a better term. The first one is declaring a variable/type.Next is instantiating that variable with something solid in the code, like a method or function? Is this just a way to glue things together? Then after that you instantiate it on the stage, is this something you have to do explicitly, or is it a side effect? Is this "3 layer" concept the correct way of looking at it, kind of like the MVC for flash app logic?
i don't know how to say that in technical terms. and i think this is the reason to why i cant get good answer from Google.i have xampp on my local winxp machine. i use it for developing websites locally then upload these files to my clients shared hosting accounts.
the problem that in 2 years i have always found differences between how xampp works and how the web server work.some code work locally but dont remotely and the opposite. also flash behave differently on xampp than the remote web server.is there is a way i can get the server configuration and use it with xampp like get the server php.ini and use it with xampp?
I am trying to understand what is going on in a SWC that I am importing from Flash CS4 into Flex Builder 3. Specifically I am using a SWC supplied by a Designer as the animation for a custom preloader (a subclassed DownloadProgressBar). The issue I am trying to understand is, once the FlexEvent.INIT_COMPLETE is fired, I cleanup by removing the swc by running this [code]though even after I have removed this (which is successful, as I have checked by comparing this.numChildren before and after the call) the key framed animation still continues to run (not visibly). This has been detected by the Designer placing a trace in the time line of the animation (in Flash). Can anyone tell me why is it, that even after I have removed the animation from the subclassed DownloadProgressBar, it still keeps running ? Also, is it standard practice when importing SWCs to manage the cleanup of resources from the Flash side of things (much like releasing memory in obj-c). I find it counter intuitive that removing the child from the Flex side does not stop the animation.
I need to dynamically bind properties of components created at runtime. In this particular case please assume I need to use bindProperty. I don't quite understand why the following simplistic test is failing (see code). When I click the button, the label text does not change. I realize that there are simpler ways to go about this particular example using traditional non-dynamic binding, but I need to understand it in terms of using bindProperty.
I had been wondering how to use shared objects for a long time and thanks a million to this mini-tut:url...I know how. The only thing is it says that to clear a shared object, you must type (used in his example) [code]but what if i wanted to delete a certain block of data on it, for example I have the shared object user. And i don't want to delete all of it, but just one block of data (specifically user.data.doc)[code]
I am making a flex application with .NET at back end (connection using WebORB and remote objects). I have five drop-down boxes in Flex component, each having unique values from different tables (e.g. city name, county name, user name, etc.).On page load (or can say creation create) I need to display these values so that users can select from the list. I was trying to get data using five remote objects (one for each drop down box.). I am wondering if there is way to get all data in one remote call.
I am creating a small game for a project im doing it is only ten levels long but I wish to include feature such as saving etc. I have one some research on Shared Objects and it seems to be the best method. The idea I wish to execute is to have at the end of a level after reaching the levels goal have a piece of code that runs and saves that the next level has been unlocked. This seems relatively simple. However i have done things awkwardly i think, instead of creating the whole game within a single fla. each level is a seperate file, eg. level1.fla, level2.fla etc. Is it possible to use the same shared object across multiple .fla's?
So i want to create a flash log in and registration form for my flash game. THis game is played on your local PC not in the internet and i am using AS 2.0. So on the registration from i want to have two input text fileds: username and password. When you click on register the data from those fields to be saved as Shared Object and then on the log in when you type something in the log in fields (again two fields : username and password) the data that you wrote in those fields to pass trough the saved data as shared objects and if those two are the same then the log in is successfull if i want the movie to go on a certain frame whare it says access denied.
I am reading the official Adobe PDF, Flash_as3_programming and am trying to get a grasp ofthe creation and use of Shared Objects. While the text does explain a lot, I am not understandingshared object store. When a .swf file is embedded in a web page, the shared object store wouldbe on the web site that hosts the .swf file? Is this a directory that contains files? How would an.swf file loaded into a client browser access these if they are on the remote host of the web site?
I've done this flash scoreboard with shared objects.but what i can done is it will replace the 1st score in my scoreboard, it won't have 2nd, 3rd, 4th and etc...the script i used is:
