I was trying to display a number: 2893604342.00. But, when i am displaying it it is displayed as: -2893604342.

I have even replaced it with Number, but it's still showing the same negative number.
I want to have a dynamic integer reference.

when I try to type cast something, there r 2 ways to do it:if var integer holds a integer (Uint)

but sometimes when I want to pass a value to a function both ways don't work and only one way works, when should I use option 1 and 2???
I have a spark skinnable component which contains a datagroup with images. The datagroup is scrolled by hovering the mouse over it. Everything works fine except one thing: after I change the datagroup provider, I need to scroll down automatically. The problem is the images are not loaded immediately after I set the provider so (contentHeight - height) does not yet represent the actual maximum scrolling position. Is there an easy way of telling the datagroup to scroll down as its content loads? Because the workaround seems to be not so straightforward. This is the code for scrolling(thumbnailStrip is my datagroup):

I have an Application consisting of a Java Server part and a Flash/Flex client, both communicate via BlazeDS. In order to have the same typed Objects on both sites, I use the GAS3 code generator (used by flex-mojos).But now I am facing the problem of handling nullable Integers. The problem is that I have an Object (A) which contains a foreign key ID which is reference an optional Object B. - But I only send the ID to the flex client.On the Java site it is easy:

But on the flex client side, bFk is of type int. And a Flash int can not be null. So the remoting mechanism converts the Java null Integer to 0. After sending it back to the server, the Java bFk becomes 0 even on the Java side. - That is not acceptable, because I need to separate 0 and nullMy first workround is using not a Integer on the Java side, but an new Class NullAbleID, which works a bit like a wrapper/adapter, that wrap an internal int where -1 represent null (I can use -1 for null, because real id will be negative). But when I would using this it means I have to replace all Java Integer ids, by this NullAbleID class.
Anyone here know the maximum size of a Flex canvas or UIComponent? I know the old MovieClip class was limited to 2800x2800px.

View 2 RepliesI need to figure out how to get a column in a columnchart to show 100% height if it exceeds the axis maximum.For example, I am using a linear axis with a maximum of 2 but want to visually show that the column is at least 2 or greater but not show more than 2 on the axis.Currently if a value exceeds the axis maximum, flex simply doesn't show the column.

I am showing a stacked bar chart with Flex, and I am dynamically changing the data of the dataprovider. However, the minimum and maximum for the y-axis do not get reset with the new data. So if one dataset had a value of -100,000, but the next dataset has only positive values, the y-axis still starts at -100,000. How can I force the chart to redraw. I tried myChart.validateNow(), dataprovider.refresh(), etc.

I have an app that has text appended to a TextArea (TA). It automatically scrolls to keep the recent line added in view. Over time, this could be a lot. Do I have to worry about this? Is there an upper limit? And, if so, how can I prune the oldest lines of text?

Having studied the the HTTP Proxy (Charles) it seems that AIR will cache the first response and then return the same response for each subsequent request.Does anybody know how to know if the response has been cached other than setting the URLRequest to useCache, but this doesn't say if the response was a cached response or not. The digest isn't set on the URLRequest either, although it does mention this is for swz only, so how does it know if the content is the current content or not? Is the responseHeaders used to find out how long to hold the cache i.e.Cache-Control: max-age=900
Also does anyone know how to flush/purge the cache or are we at the whim of the GC and in that case how does it know if to leave it in the cache or now?This makes sense to me, but still I would like to know how to regulate this cache.Further more: I've tested a set up where parallel URLLoaders (10) are made and created which open the same url to see what happens in that instance. It seems that each parallel request is made until a successful response is given, all subsequent calls are then cached. Calls which are sent out before the successful request is then completed. It looks like the items which are already in being processed do not use the cache and return with correct data.Additional The AIR runtime doesn't even send a "If-Modified-Since" header, so the cache isn't even honoring HTTP protocol. So it seems as if Adobe has implemented it's own version of a cache which doesn't even use HTTP/1.1 Header Field Definitions.
Is there a maximum size limit for files being uploaded in Adobe Flex?I am testing it on localhost and can't upload a file of roughly 300MB.Even though I receive the complete event, after I upload the file....I was able to upload a file of roughly 10MB.

Then i ask flash to trace myInt divided by myOtherInt
trace(myInt / myOtherInt);
And in the output menu i get 335.7 as the traced number and i need to get an integer which would be 335.

Why 3000 put in quotes. Does it consider as a string on this expression?
