I have an app that has text appended to a TextArea (TA). It automatically scrolls to keep the recent line added in view. Over time, this could be a lot. Do I have to worry about this? Is there an upper limit? And, if so, how can I prune the oldest lines of text?

Having studied the the HTTP Proxy (Charles) it seems that AIR will cache the first response and then return the same response for each subsequent request.Does anybody know how to know if the response has been cached other than setting the URLRequest to useCache, but this doesn't say if the response was a cached response or not. The digest isn't set on the URLRequest either, although it does mention this is for swz only, so how does it know if the content is the current content or not? Is the responseHeaders used to find out how long to hold the cache i.e.Cache-Control: max-age=900
Also does anyone know how to flush/purge the cache or are we at the whim of the GC and in that case how does it know if to leave it in the cache or now?This makes sense to me, but still I would like to know how to regulate this cache.Further more: I've tested a set up where parallel URLLoaders (10) are made and created which open the same url to see what happens in that instance. It seems that each parallel request is made until a successful response is given, all subsequent calls are then cached. Calls which are sent out before the successful request is then completed. It looks like the items which are already in being processed do not use the cache and return with correct data.Additional The AIR runtime doesn't even send a "If-Modified-Since" header, so the cache isn't even honoring HTTP protocol. So it seems as if Adobe has implemented it's own version of a cache which doesn't even use HTTP/1.1 Header Field Definitions.
I am developing a Flex based window application. In that I have used a textArea, Now when I type some characters like ctrl+b, ctrl+e or ctrl+q, it shows some square characters in text area, I think these are some unicode characters but why these are being entered.
Unlike in simple textArea control on adobe example when I presses these key combination, there is nothing being entered, so why this only with me.

I am writing a flex application that involves modifying a textarea very frequently. I have encountered issues with the textarea sometimes not displaying my modifications.[code]When you run the above code in a flex project, it should repeatedly print, character by character, the sentence "The big brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.". But, if you are typing into the textarea at the same time, you will notice the text the timer prints is distorted.I am really curious as to why this happens. The single-threaded nature of flex and disabling user input for the textarea when I make modifications should prevent this from happening, but for some reason this doesn't seem to be working.I must note too that, when running the timer at larger intervals (around 100ms) it seems to work perfectly, so I am tempted to think it's some kind of synchronization issue in the internals of the flex framework.

View 4 RepliesCurrently my flash file will insert an object onto the stage when the user clicks onto the stage. each object will play and loop a sound (the user can select sounds and time before the sound loops for each object) but when I have many sounds playing at once, the sounds will suddenly stop and briefly come back before stopping again. Now I'm guessing there must be a maximum number for sounds simultaneously playing for a flash movie? If so, I'd like to know if there are any workarounds?At present, a sound playing about 2 times a second will be able to repeat roughly 30 times before it sound cuts out.
I added in functionality to stop a sound if it is attempting to trigger again in my play function to which I had a "cannot access a property or method of null object reference" output on the function and the sounds all started doing the same thing again. This happens the same as above, after 30 times playing 2 a second.Unless I've assessed the cause incorrectly, the only workarounds I can think of are to restrict the sound length and restrict the time before a sound loops - but this would ruin some of the aspects of what I wanted to create
I have created a textArea element but cannot display my HTML content. If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

I'm having issues with the property "editable" of textArea control. I have a component: OrderView.mxml and it's associated data class OrderViewData.as. Orderview.mxml is inside a viewStack to enable navigation from a component to another. In this particular case, OrderView.mxml is called by another component: SearchResult.mxml. I can thus navigate from SearchResult.mxml to OrderView.mxml, and back to SearchResult.mxml... OrderView.mxml has textArea and textInput control, that have to be editable or nonEditable depending on the property var isEditable:Boolean from OrderViewData.as.
When the application is launched, isEditable = true. So, all textInput and textArea controls are editable the first time the user gets to OrderView.mxml. When the user clicks on the button order from OrderView.mxml, isEditable = false. When the user goes back to SearchResult.mxml, isEditable = true (again) --> Until here, everything works fine. The thing is: when the user goes back to OrderView.mxml for the second time (and beyond), even if the property isEditable = true, textArea controls are still non editable... But the textInput controls are editable!

So I would like to make my main animation in the root to repeate a segment of the animation (beteween 50 and 80 frame) or to loop an MC so many times like the number of lines in this txt file.
