I have a simple drag and drop, and wanted to change the state of the drop target on a match. It works as expected, but then there the state changes back to normal (or the itemrenderer is refreshing). I am guessing there is either an override that i need to do, or in need to flag it to not refresh, but having no luck.
In our app, I am periodically noticing that a particular event handler is not firing. 99% of the time, it works fine, but, every so often, it just dies. How can I find out whats happening? Is the DispatchEvent() not happening/working somehow? Is my listener still listening? Did something else catch the event, and not pass it along so that the 'right' listener can get to it ?
Here's a little bit of the code...
Thats a somewhat pruned down version of what the real code is, but I don't think I trimmed out anything important. The key, as I see it is that we fire up the params dialog, then start to listen for the closed event. Then, we show the param dialogs close function. What happens when it fails is that the trace message "caught close event.." is never generated, and, consequently, the closeHandler is not getting called at all.
I'm trying to achieve 2-way binding with the Booths variable.the COLLECTION_CHANGE event never fires even when I add 2 new items in the Booths variable in the App.mxml
I would like to programatically fire an event on a spark checkbox. I have a tab bar which has tabs enabled according to various checkboxes. I am loading data into these tabs. Sometimes tabs 1 and 2 will be enabled. Other times tabs 2 and 3. Other times tab 4 by itself (and all the other combinations). I have tried to enable the VBox (in action script) which is in my view stack but it seems to freeze the application. The VBox enables correctly upon user input on the check box. If I set the checkbox to be selected it does not fire the event and so does not enable the tab.
Is it possible to manually fire an event in Flex. I have tried to see if I can take the checkbox and get the event and fire it. Unfortunately I can only see addEventListener, hasEventLister and removeEventListener. There is no way of getting the events that are already on the checkbox
I am developing a Flex based window application. In that I have used a textArea, Now when I type some characters like ctrl+b, ctrl+e or ctrl+q, it shows some square characters in text area, I think these are some unicode characters but why these are being entered.
Unlike in simple textArea control on adobe example when I presses these key combination, there is nothing being entered, so why this only with me.
in flex,I have a textarea control i like to select some text in textarea. when mouse releases then selected text will be hilighted to GREEN RECTANGLE as sprite.
enter code hereBeen really frustrating just trying to load a swf from a swfloader in Flex and then accessing it's content. I'm sure once I figure out how to do it once then it'll be fine, but I've gone thorugh a bunch of tutorials and somethings not right. Here's my flex code:and the as code:
public function initHeaderSwf():void { trace("INITIATIED");[code]........
Here's the problem: The swf loads, there is no problem there.i see it in my compiled swf. but the complete event doesn't fire. CreationComplete will fire, and then I try, after that, to make a event listener for loading the actual swf, that doesn't fire.I've tried it a variety of different ways with no luck.All I am trying to do is change a text field in the loaded swf.I imagine this might be a problem with the sequence of things loading or something like that, but not sure.
I have a HTTPService: <mx:HTTPService id="scoreService" url="http://" method="POST" result="onResult(event)"> <s:request xmlns=""> <name>{..}</name><score>{...}</score> </s:request></mx:HTTPService>
And a script for (event): private function onResult(e:ResultEvent):void { if (e.result.status == true) { currentState='...'; } else { Alert.show("...", "..."); }} The problem is that none of the event possibilities fires after I POST data to my php.
I am writing a flex application that involves modifying a textarea very frequently. I have encountered issues with the textarea sometimes not displaying my modifications.[code]When you run the above code in a flex project, it should repeatedly print, character by character, the sentence "The big brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.". But, if you are typing into the textarea at the same time, you will notice the text the timer prints is distorted.I am really curious as to why this happens. The single-threaded nature of flex and disabling user input for the textarea when I make modifications should prevent this from happening, but for some reason this doesn't seem to be working.I must note too that, when running the timer at larger intervals (around 100ms) it seems to work perfectly, so I am tempted to think it's some kind of synchronization issue in the internals of the flex framework.
I have an app that has text appended to a TextArea (TA). It automatically scrolls to keep the recent line added in view. Over time, this could be a lot. Do I have to worry about this? Is there an upper limit? And, if so, how can I prune the oldest lines of text?
I am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong?
I am a bit stuck here for the past few days. I have a SWF running in Security.LOCAL_TRUSTED sandbox. I can load my JPEGs and simple SWFs without any problems
I am trying to create basically a puzzle in Flex Builder 3. I display images from an array onto a canvas that can be dragged and dropped around the canvas. My problem is that I don't want the images to be able to overlap each other. how to prevent this?? They can overlap as you drag but not when dropped, they need to "snap" to the nearest point that is not already occupied by another image.
I have a TextArea that I don't ever want to be scrolled. When scrolling within the application that holds this TextArea, however, the scrolling stops as soon as the mouse ends up over the TextArea.
Is there any way to pass the scroll event to the application, or tell the TextArea to not claim the event?
I have a weird issue (weird because it is specific to one component) with applicationComplete in a fairly simple application. All the UI components are declared in MXML. I can access them all in applicationComplete, but not a spark.components.TextArea component, named taStatus here; it is null in the handler.[code]...
I would like to disable copy event in the TextArea I'm using. To achieve so I added the following code block:
function initTA(){ var tf:IUITextField = body.mx_internal::getTextField(); tf.enabled = false; } <mx:TextArea id="body" creationComplete="initTA()" .../>
This is working fine unless the text area has lots of text inside in which case a scroll bar appears. After the scroll bar is being used by the user, the text area stopped blocking the copy event.
By the way, I am using text area for display purposes since I use rich text area format.
Every time a user takes a new line (i.e each time they press the return/enter key) when typing in a textArea, I would like the textArea to dispatch an event.I can then listen for this event and then carry out some processing on the textArea's contents.
I'm using Flex 4.5.1 with AIR 2.7 (and Flash Builder 4.5.1) to build an app for the Blackberry Playbook.
The app has a large textarea that needs to be resized when the soft keyboard shows up. I am able to hook into the soft keyboard events and do things there.
Now, I want to resize the textarea to fit the remaining part of the screen when the keyboard shows up. I know the current and destination size and want to use a smooth animation to show the textarea resizing. (I can't already set the height and can see the textarea being correctly resized in the keyboard_activating event - but I want to do it through an animation). I've tried using the Animate class, the spark.effects.Move class and none of them seem to work in this case. They seem to run the animation but the screen does not get refreshed!
I have created a textArea element but cannot display my HTML content. If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.
I'm having issues with the property "editable" of textArea control. I have a component: OrderView.mxml and it's associated data class OrderViewData.as. Orderview.mxml is inside a viewStack to enable navigation from a component to another. In this particular case, OrderView.mxml is called by another component: SearchResult.mxml. I can thus navigate from SearchResult.mxml to OrderView.mxml, and back to SearchResult.mxml... OrderView.mxml has textArea and textInput control, that have to be editable or nonEditable depending on the property var isEditable:Boolean from OrderViewData.as.
When the application is launched, isEditable = true. So, all textInput and textArea controls are editable the first time the user gets to OrderView.mxml. When the user clicks on the button order from OrderView.mxml, isEditable = false. When the user goes back to SearchResult.mxml, isEditable = true (again) --> Until here, everything works fine. The thing is: when the user goes back to OrderView.mxml for the second time (and beyond), even if the property isEditable = true, textArea controls are still non editable... But the textInput controls are editable!
I am working on a card game.When the game initializes, 2 cards get dealt to the dealer and 2 to the player. Each card MC is created dynamically. When you hit the deal button, the cards are dealt, but all appear at the same time. So i figured i would try using the Timer class in order to delay each card so they are dealt one-at-a-time. Seemed easy enough, but evidently i am missing something obvious and probably embarrassing. The short, simple code, which i expected to be a no-brainer, doesn't seem to want to work. My ignorance with the Timer class isn't helping where i am going wrong or if i am way out in left field? I created a Timer that repeats 4 times(repeatCount). I was thinking that i could target e.repeatCount with a case statement and fire off each card. I can't seem to get it working though.
Code: Select allimport flash.events.TimerEvent; import flash.utils.Timer; var dealTimer:Timer = new Timer(200, 4);
I have some code where an event handler listening to Event.ID3 fires twice for an MP3 file. From searching the web, I found a few others asking a similar question, but I haven't seen any response.
Does anybody know what would cause the ID3 Event to fire twice for a single file? My only guess is that the MP3 file contains two versions of ID3 format.
What's happening is that the user fills out a form in the HTML Viewer, then when they click the submit button I want to be notified of the page change.
If they land on URL A, then they'll be shown one message. If they land on URL B, they'll be shown another.
I have a little flash app that I have running constantly on my server (I made it an exe). It runs great for a few days, but then eventually it just stops.
Code: trace("test1"); var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(5000, 1); myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, getData,false,0,true);
[Code].....
The code above should call the function getData once after 5 seconds have passed. This works 99.99% of the time, but for some reason (usually after a few days of it running) it doesn't call the getData function.
I have verified this through trace statements. When it eventually fails, it traces out test1, test2..... then nothing else. No test3.
I'm assuming I need to add an event listener for the timer object to check if it fails for whatever reason. How do I do this?
I'm sure some users on this forum will be aware that AddThis are dropping the Clearspring Launchpad, so I'm writing a new API to get ready for the changeover. Part of that is a base UI that will create buttons for social network sharing destinations. At the moment, AddThis contain all the icons in a single long strip that is 16x3520 pixels in size [URL]...
What I'm trying to do is load this into a utility class, but the Event.COMPLETE event never fires, and if the Loader class that loads it is added to the stage, the bitmap is never shown. I thought it was maybe a dimensions issue, but what is curious is that if I place the PNG on a Flash stage and export as a SWF, it loads no problem. If I dump it out as a JPEG, no problem. Its ONLY when the file is a PNG that there are problems trying to load it. I even tried dropping it out as a 24-bit PNG (the original is 8) but that had no effect.
In my Flash project I have a movieclip that has 2 keyframes. Both frames contain 1 movieclip each.
frame 1 - Landing frame 2 - Game
The flow of the application is simple:
User arrives on landing page (frame 1) User clicks "start game" button User is brought to the game page (frame 2) When the game is over, the user can press a "play again" button which brings them back to step 1
Both Landing and Game movieclips are linked to separate classes that define event listeners. The problem is that when I end up back at step 1 after playing the game, the Game event listeners fire twice for their respective event. And if I go through the process a third time, the event listeners fire three times for every event. This keeps happening, so if I loop through the application flow 7 times, the event listeners fire seven times. I don't understand why this is happening because on frame 1, the Game movieclip (and I would assume its related class instance) does not exist - but I'm clearly missing something here.
I've run into this problem in other projects too, and tried fixing it by first checking if the event listeners existed and only defining them if they didn't, but I ended up with unexpected results that didn't really solve the problem.
I'm dynamically creating instances of a loader in a loop, adding a complete listener to it, and loading it. For some reason the complete function is not called. Is this syntax wrong?
