Actionscript 3 :: Prevent Overlapping DragDrop Images In Flex
Apr 16, 2010
I am trying to create basically a puzzle in Flex Builder 3. I display images from an array onto a canvas that can be dragged and dropped around the canvas. My problem is that I don't want the images to be able to overlap each other. how to prevent this?? They can overlap as you drag but not when dropped, they need to "snap" to the nearest point that is not already occupied by another image.
Below is the code for a simple Flex actionscript project. A sprite is partially covering a hyperlink. What's happening is that when you hover over the sprite, if you're also hovering over the hyperlink, the hyperlink is activated. I want to prevent that. I want the hyperlink to be activated only when the mouse hovers over it -- but not when the mouse hovers over the sprite which covers it.
I have two pencils continuosly making stars and crosses when they are on a certain area. For doing that, I'm using attachMovie. Question is: how do I control the spacing between instances? Right now they overlap each other, and what I like is to be a space equal the size of the stars/shapes.
On my stage I have generated a series of Movie Clips at runtime. They drift around in a semi-random motion, causing them to occasionally overlap each other - is there any way of preventing them from doing this?
I have a simple drag and drop, and wanted to change the state of the drop target on a match. It works as expected, but then there the state changes back to normal (or the itemrenderer is refreshing). I am guessing there is either an override that i need to do, or in need to flag it to not refresh, but having no luck.
I am building an AIR application which opens some specific documents. I want to enable dragdrop on this application. So that when application is running and user drag a file and drop that file on the application window, the application must respond to that event and must be able to perform some action.
I have to load png images into flash, such that, whenever they change on server, the change should be reflected on client! But the swf loads the same image over and over during the same session! I am guessing this is because the browser returns the cached image instead of the original! how to fix this?
I am having troubles with a Flash presentation (photo gallery) file that is stretching the images out of proportion. The photo gallery is a fullscreen presentation and it acquires the images from an external images folder via a XML file. Is there any particular code that I'm not aware of to keep the images displaying in their correct proportion in fullscreen instead of them stretching all the time?
How do I prevent Flash from caching loaded images? In my app a user make a change to an image and saves it back to the server as the same name. Flash then reloads the section and the new image should be reflected. However, it is not. The image looks fine on the server and is updated on the server...
I can think of to prevent my external images from being compressed. I have a few png files being pulled into flash via XML and AS3. For some reason the images that are being pulled in are being compressed and look terrible. What can i do to prevent them from being compressed so much. They are pulled in via an empty movieclip.URL...Here is the AS that is being used to pull the images in and the XML information.[code]

I'm trying to prevent screen capture of some copyrighted images displayed in a Flash Web site. I've tried using onKeypress "prt scr", and jumping to a frame in the timeline where the image isn't displayed, as the Print Screen key is the most commonly used for capturing from image editing programs. But that key option doesn't seem to be available.
Is there a way to display the Vertical Axis outside the graph? I need the limits of the graph to be displayed between the vertical axis, without overlapping the series over the graph.
See that screenshot of what I have: I need to get something like:
Or I should create a custom axis renderer component that get data from this graph and display it outside?
I need to create a workaround for a button issue. I don't know how to have one button created by one class send a click event to another item created in a different class
Therefore, I'd like to place both of my buttons on top of one another, alpha one of them out and have both buttons receive the same click.
I'm having a serious issue when trying to display a FlareCanvas within my application. It simply doesn't respect the bounds (see image here)
I've tried "clipContent" and a bunch of alternatives but nothing seems to prevent the canvas of being "passing" over its container. What should I do? It is taking me several weeks!
I have this small project HERE. Right now it barely does anything but make the character move.
I move the character by using <s:Move>. Now as you can see on the link to my project page, it moves to where you point the mouse and click. I want to be able to stop the character from moving if it hits another object or in this case, the "tree". Is there a script in AS3 that will let me detect collisions or controls that are overlapping each other?
I am sending out a standalone player that uses an xml driven image gallery. I need to prevent changes to the xml file to stop images being added to the gallery. I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?
If you have two text areas with different styles (fontFamily, weight, color etc) and you copy text from one to the other it also copies the style from the originating text area. Is there any slick way to prevent that?
Here is a sample of code that will illustrate the problem. Type some text in the top box and some text in the bottom, then copy some characters from the top box to the bottom. I'm not using htmltext.[code]...
I hope I would not waste your time too much. I am going to publish my Adobe Flex library to sell in commercial, but I don't need anyone can open my SWC file and study the code in there. I see Adobe Flex library can prevent this activity. How could I do this too?
My custom item editor opens a titlewindow (too much stuff to show in an inline editor) which obviously steal the focus, so I get a itemeditend event and the datagrid destroy the editor at the wrong (for me) time. I think to have to keep the itemeditor alive until the titlewindow job is done, but how? DataGridEvent reason is "other" and livedocs said preventDefault() can't help.
I'm finding that in flash (10.x at least) and ie (7, 8, 9) that if I try to load an image url that contains escaped utf-8 characters (p%C3%83%C2%A5) that the characters get decoded before it makes the url request, even if I double or triple encode them. Is there any way to prevent this so the url (with escapes) the way I want it is actually what is requested?
The problem its causing is we give a http status of 301 on utf-8 decoded url requests to the encoded url which flash then tries to request (but ie decodes it again) and I get stuck in an infinite loop because of the 301 + ie auto-decoding.
EDIT, adding code sample:
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest('http://mydomain.com/p%C3%A5.jpg'); var loader:Loader = new Loader(); loader.load(url);
Now I want the request to go over the line as [URL] (and it does in other browsers), but in IE it goes over the line as [URL]
EDIT: replacing % with %25 (double encoding the %) but that didn't work, it just caused this request to go over the wire: [URL]
I'm looking simply approach to prevent scale thumb within flex scrollbar'According to our wireframes we should display scrollbar without up-down arrows and cycle (without scale) as a thumb;
I think there is a simple solution to this question, just not simple enough for me to find it.Question:How do you constrain a TitleWindow in Flex 3 from being dragged off the screen/stage? Is there a way to restrict the TitleWindow to the viewing area? Example: Let's say I have an application that take 100% of the screen. Next, I create a TitleWindow via the PopUpManager. I can then proceed to click and hold (drag) that window off the screen, then release the mouse button. That window is now lost off-screen somewhere. Is there a way to keep the window from being dragged beyond the viewing area?
I was wondering, if I have two list boxes, and I want to drag and drop between both of them, how do I prevent the user from dragging onto the same list (thus duplicating the item? I cannot have a situation where that is the case
I've hit a very strange issue in adobe flex and I'm not sure how to solve it. I have a popup box that is called on creationComplete before startup of my main application. The popup simply asks for an email address and then the application is enabled showing the email address in a label component.
However, when I try to access the email address from the label component called UserID.text in the application, it is always null even though it is visually present in the label box...It seems like it loses state somehow...so HOW in earth can I keep it from losing state? I need to access the label or some variable throughout the use of the application and everything I try always ends up in a null variable? The main part of the application that sets the label is here:
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" xmlns:controls="com.iwobanas.controls.*" xmlns:local="*" creationComplete="showWindow(true)"> private function showWindow(modal:Boolean):void
I've implemented a PDF generation function in my flex app using alivePDF, and I'm wondering if the process I've used to get the file to the user creates an XSS vulnerability. This is the process I'm currently using:Create the PDF in the flex application.Send the binary PDF file to the server using a POST, along with the filename to deliver it as.An ASP.NET script on the server checks the filename to make sure it's valid, and then sends it back to the user as an HTTP attachment.
I am using Google AppEngine, in conjunction with PyAMF to provide RemoteObject support. In my Flex code I make several RemoteObject method calls at once which tends to batch the AMF Messages into a single HTTP request. Most of the time this is fine but AppEngine applies some strict per request limits (in this case I am hitting a DeadlineExceededError - max 30 seconds). A number of service methods are expected to take upwards of 10 seconds and if these are batched by the RemoteObject into 1 HTTP you see where this is going. Now you could say refactor your service calls and that is also going on but not really the question being asked here. Is there a way to prevent Flex RemoteObject from batching AMF requests for situations like this? I have done a fair amount of Googling on the subject and come up with bupkis. It seems to me that I would need to implement a custom version of mx.messaging.channels.AMFChannel or something of that nature, which seems waay too hardcore for a feature like this
