Flex :: Overlapping Flare Canvas - Clip It To The Container?

I'm having a serious issue when trying to display a FlareCanvas within my application. It simply doesn't respect the bounds (see image here)
I've tried "clipContent" and a bunch of alternatives but nothing seems to prevent the canvas of being "passing" over its container. What should I do? It is taking me several weeks!
I am trying to add a container having some UI components as child in it to a canvas and also want to set the border size only using the action script without MXML,
1) is it possible to add the container that is a lower class in hierarchy from parent to child upward, can canvas addchild() accepts the container as child ?
2) how to set the border of both the canvas and the container ?
i need to do this in action script i have tried but nothing comes out here is the [code]...
I'm using the drawing API features to do the following: I created two different squares and want to use them as two different canvas to draw on, they should be on top of each other so for testing purpose I overlap them partially here, but somehow I'm having trouble when trying to draw on the overlapped areas. Has any one encountered this problem or know how to solve it?
I want to dynamically add different items to thumbContent canvas and use scroller canvas to scroll. I see than the height of thumbContent bigger than 7977 it truncate from scrolling. So - I see the scroller canvas with empty space on top. Then I scroll to bottom - I see the content of thumbContent and at bottom scrolling I see empty space too.
I'm trying to skin a canvas with an image (which is essentially a custom border for the canvas). I've been trying the backgroundImage style as well as the borderSkin style. I can't get the image to scale to the full size of the canvas though. I was wondering what the best way to go about this is.[code]...
I have Flex 4.6 and the last Flare.Prefuse update. Flare has a src directory with subdirectories of all the various classes. Compiling sample code produces "Definition flare could not be found" which is understandable. I am just using the command line version of mxmcl to compile the code. What do I need to do to link in the Flare library?
Does anyone know of software or flex/flash/as3 source or visualisation software that could be used to make interactive graphs, where the user would enter a query that would pull data from a MySQL database and the user would build a sunburst or icicle graph by dragging and dropping items into a tree-like structure and they would be able to view the graph? i have attempted to use flare but my programming skills are pretty bad. So far from what i gather, flare only allows the graphing of defined datasets rather than allowing a user to modify the dataset and thus creating a new dataset.

In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:
And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.
I am targeting a a movie clip. The problem is that all the syntax I have found for targetting clips looks like this: _root.sample_mc.sample2.mc. etc. The problem is, my target clip is in an swf that I've loaded into a container clip from my main timeline. So, essentially, I have a home.swf that loads menu.swf into a container called 'location'. In menu.swf, I have an MC called center, which contains the MC I am targetting called 'target'.
I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

The error I get is: ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property panel4.4 not found on components.readTest and there is no default value.
I have tried setting the "name" property instead of the "id" property.
I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.
Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?
For one circle i am able to do drag and drop.But I want one Big circle on left hand side and one big circle on right hand side .And small circles with class names will be in these big circles.Now i want to drag and drop those small circles in big circles.Big cicles should not move. Even i have tried this code in actionscript
I am looking for a way to create a lens flare in cs5 on an alpha channel. i tried creating a small white circle and then putting several glows on it but it is really looking cheesy.. i also tried doing it in photoshop but was not able to figure out way to make a lense flare on an alpha, save as png and then bring it into flash without it having black edges.
I'm currently working on a custom component which extends Canvas (let's call it SuperCanvas) ; it's basically a container that let you zoom & pan its contents. It would be too long to explain why, but I can't use scrollRect, so I was forced to declare a Canvas object (called innerCanvas)... inside my SuperCanvas (I know, not very nice =/) I would like to know if there's a proper way to "redirect" the creation of my component's children in this canvas.
I've got a pure AS3 (no Flex) project that uses Flare to display and interact with a data visualization. I just implemented some panning behavior, so you can click and drag the visualization around, and now I'd like to give the user a visual indicator that this is possible, by switching the arrow cursor with a nice grabby-looking hand icon.The user can click and drag at any time except when the mouse is over a clickable node (at which time the cursor swaps to a pointer - this behavior is already in place).
1) Do I need to create my own custom bitmap/sprite or is there a palette of built-in cursors I can use? (I'm not using Flex.)
2) Is there a way to simply replace the default arrow with the pan cursor project-wide, or do I need to attach the swapping to mouse events on display objects? Can I use the stage object to make this behavior apply everywhere?
3) How do I perform the swap? Do I use the Cursor object directly or do I need to get involved with the CursorManager?
Flex charts, like AreaChart, have wonderful built-in support for displaying data "tool tips" when a user hovers over a point supplied in the data of a graph. You can hover over any of the bar graph examples on this page for a demonstration. I have a graph situation where I optionally draw in some dots as reference points on CartesianDataCanvases supplied to my AreaChart through it's <mx:annotationElements> and <mx:backgroundElements> tags.
I would like to have the same hover data-tip functionality that the AreaChart has, but applied to these dots. I realize that I am just drawing on canvas, and that no actual dataProvider supports these dots, but if there was a way to supply the CartesianDataCanvas with an array of data values or something to that effect,
Is there a way to display the Vertical Axis outside the graph? I need the limits of the graph to be displayed between the vertical axis, without overlapping the series over the graph.

Below is the code for a simple Flex actionscript project. A sprite is partially covering a hyperlink. What's happening is that when you hover over the sprite, if you're also hovering over the hyperlink, the hyperlink is activated. I want to prevent that. I want the hyperlink to be activated only when the mouse hovers over it -- but not when the mouse hovers over the sprite which covers it.
I need to create a workaround for a button issue. I don't know how to have one button created by one class send a click event to another item created in a different class
Therefore, I'd like to place both of my buttons on top of one another, alpha one of them out and have both buttons receive the same click.

I cant figure out how to unload a movie clip. I thought i knew how, but its not working and i've tried everything i can think of.I'm loading an external swf like this:[code]This works fine. It loads an external swf that plays a youtube video. However, whenever i click on my navigation buttons to go to another page (basically another movieclip in teh _root level, it does not unload the youtube player and it keeps playing. Further more, if i go back to that page, the youtube player loads again and starts repeating itself.I thought by adding the following code to all my navigational buttons, the youtube player would unload, but it doesn't:[code]
I am trying to create basically a puzzle in Flex Builder 3. I display images from an array onto a canvas that can be dragged and dropped around the canvas. My problem is that I don't want the images to be able to overlap each other. how to prevent this?? They can overlap as you drag but not when dropped, they need to "snap" to the nearest point that is not already occupied by another image.
The basis for the chat window is a canvas. I've got that showing, but how do I make it scroll up? I want to clip the window so only the last 15 lines are shown.[code]...
My code above works absolutely fine, until i resize my browser window to a size below 800px width. When the browser window is make of lesser width than 800px, the canvas with background color #A8A8A8 is on the right of the window, but the problem is, when I move the scroll bar, the canvas should remain on the right of the window. Which does not happen, and that is what my problem is.
How can I solve this issue. What should I do to keep my canvas be on the right=0 all the time.
