Pass A Flex TextArea's Scroll Event Up To Application?
Mar 4, 2010
I have a TextArea that I don't ever want to be scrolled. When scrolling within the application that holds this TextArea, however, the scrolling stops as soon as the mouse ends up over the TextArea.
Is there any way to pass the scroll event to the application, or tell the TextArea to not claim the event?
I would like to disable copy event in the TextArea I'm using. To achieve so I added the following code block:
function initTA(){ var tf:IUITextField = body.mx_internal::getTextField(); tf.enabled = false; } <mx:TextArea id="body" creationComplete="initTA()" .../>
This is working fine unless the text area has lots of text inside in which case a scroll bar appears. After the scroll bar is being used by the user, the text area stopped blocking the copy event.
By the way, I am using text area for display purposes since I use rich text area format.
I have a full screen flex application and I want the user to be able to scroll using browser scrollbars. I don't need mousewheel in the flex application and flex appears to block mousewheel events within itself. So mousewheel events do nothing.
I have code in a flex component that I want to listen for an event, the source of the event is a custom class that's being run by another class that's being run by another class etc etc. I was under the impression that an event would pass throughout the whole application, so I was hoping if I dispatched the custom event in the class like so..
private function finishEvent():void { var evt:EventDispatcher = new EventDispatcher; var finished:Event = new Event("finishedInterpret");[code]...
the event gets fired basically when the executeBatch is finished, and the finishEvent is being called, but I'm the listener isn't getting anything. I tried setting it to db.addEventListener, but that had now effect.
I have a TextArea that shows the conversation from selected chat room. For valueCommit event I use: verticalScrollPosition = maxVerticalScrollPosition; And it works fine scrolling text to the bottom. However in one case it doesn't work as expected. There's verylittle text, so TextArea has no scrollbar and then I put a lot of text and a scrollbar is necessary. The text is scrolled almost to the bottom (still a few lines need to be scrolled down). I am pretty sure it gets maxVerticalScrollPosition as if there was no scrollbar. So the question is how can I wait with updating verticalScrollPosition with respect to TextArea's new size (that is now with a scrollbar). I tried calling validateSize and other methods that start with 'validate' but unfortunately with no luck. I also tried the old trick of putting caret at the end of text. So the TextArea's scrollbar makes a difference when getting maxVerticalScrollPosition and I need to update verticalScrollPosition once all measurements are done. I forgot to mention. I use htmlText.
I am attempting to insert text from a database into a custom TextArea component, using the following: var front:CaptionTextArea = myFlashcardFrontsides[adjIndex] as CaptionTextArea; var back:CaptionTextArea = myFlashcardBacksides[adjIndex] as CaptionTextArea; var passage:CaptionTextInput = myVersePassages[adjIndex] as CaptionTextInput; front.text = passage.text; back.text = str;
This works 100% of the time for smaller strings. However, if I insert long strings of text, the application will hang consistently. The maxchars for the textarea is set to 1200, and the text that is inserted into the text area is always smaller than the character limit: backside.maxChars = 1200;
I have a weird issue (weird because it is specific to one component) with applicationComplete in a fairly simple application. All the UI components are declared in MXML. I can access them all in applicationComplete, but not a spark.components.TextArea component, named taStatus here; it is null in the handler.[code]...
Every time a user takes a new line (i.e each time they press the return/enter key) when typing in a textArea, I would like the textArea to dispatch an event.I can then listen for this event and then carry out some processing on the textArea's contents.
My Flex application is half cut off with no scroll bar in the browser window. How can I get a scroll bar? The application tag doesn't have a setVerticalScrollPollicy property.
I want to store images from the flex application to a asp net web service and at a later point will be sending these images back to flex application . Can you please give a example web method in c# or suggest a website to read about how to do this.
I'm using Flex 4.5.1 with AIR 2.7 (and Flash Builder 4.5.1) to build an app for the Blackberry Playbook.
The app has a large textarea that needs to be resized when the soft keyboard shows up. I am able to hook into the soft keyboard events and do things there.
Now, I want to resize the textarea to fit the remaining part of the screen when the keyboard shows up. I know the current and destination size and want to use a smooth animation to show the textarea resizing. (I can't already set the height and can see the textarea being correctly resized in the keyboard_activating event - but I want to do it through an animation). I've tried using the Animate class, the spark.effects.Move class and none of them seem to work in this case. They seem to run the animation but the screen does not get refreshed!
Positioning / Scrolling problem with Flex popup I am trying to get the main control bar on my application to control the location of a popup that has been opened using PopUpManager. create PopUp(this,JakePanel,false);Initially the page looks like this:After I scroll the page it looks like this: What I would like is for the Popup to scroll with everything else.[code]
I want to create a Custom Scroll bar in my FLEX 3.0 application. Which should enable to use Text instead of |||| that shows in ScrollThumb... I have used mx_internal for changing the style of that but still facing the problem that text is not displayed. here is the code that i have created.
I have a Facebook application that has a picture gallery. It's build in Flex 4. I want to allow users to link to a specific image. How can that be done?
The only way I see this being done is adding a GET var like &my_picture=asd.jpg in the Facebook page URL, but I don't know how to read that from the iFrame.
I want to specify a string value in the HTML containing my Flash created using Flex 3. This value is a URL that is used by the Flex code and I want another dev to be able to update it. How do I do this? I'm using Flex Builder 3.
do I have to necessarily have a application container as the root node in my mxml file?econd, I was reading this document on adobe's website and it says that the spark application container has no scroll bars by default and they can be added by using a custom skin. (Look at the table comparing the mx and spark application containers). But my problem is that my application container already has scroll bars by default and I want to get rid of them. I have a main application container with a custom child component that already has scroll bars. I just want the child to have the scroll bars and not the main application
I have to necessarily have a application container as the root node in my mxml file? Second, I was reading this document on adobe's website and it says that the spark application container has no scroll bars by default and they can be added by using a custom skin. I have a main application container with a custom child component that already has scroll bars. I just want the child to have the scroll bars and not the main application. Right now I get 2 scroll bars nested within each other.
I have a spark datagrid on a mobile application, I set the
interactionMode="touch"
and the dataGrid scrolling is good, I got some problems adding a selectionChange eventListener to it, because scrolling the dataGrid will automatically change the selection and instead simply scrolling it, the function binded will start...
How can I add the touch dalay before select the index, so if I scroll the grid the selection won't change, and it change only if I press the item without scrolling?
One of my decoration bitmaps covers up some important elements in my flex application. The problem is these elements become not clickable. How could make the bitmap not clickable or how could I pass the click event along to those children elements below?
I need to call a component and pass an object. Now I am using event initialize to pass into the method of component but it seem to execute only once as follows. Is there anyway that I can make it call every time it loads.[code]
I'm using an HTTP request to download a image in binary format. When the downloading is complete, I want to process it, but I also want to pass the image's ID to the complete handler function.
Since when using sql lite if you try and do a function at the same moment it throws an error, im just trying to make a function that will check if its executing, and if it is try again in 10 milliseconds, this exact function works fine if i dont have to pass any arguments to the function but im confused how I can pass the vars back into the function it'll be executing.[code]
In the code below, image01.gif is 'higher' than the textArea readingPane(ie image01.height > readingPane.height). My problem is that I cannot srcoll the image. Is it possible? If so,how?
import fl.controls.TextArea; var readingPane:TextArea; var htmlString:String = <img src='http://localhost/strategist/images/image0.gif' hspace =
