I have a spark skinnable component which contains a datagroup with images. The datagroup is scrolled by hovering the mouse over it. Everything works fine except one thing: after I change the datagroup provider, I need to scroll down automatically. The problem is the images are not loaded immediately after I set the provider so (contentHeight - height) does not yet represent the actual maximum scrolling position. Is there an easy way of telling the datagroup to scroll down as its content loads? Because the workaround seems to be not so straightforward. This is the code for scrolling(thumbnailStrip is my datagroup):
I have a Flex application, I want to scroll the page to bottom when a button is pressed.Scroll bars is added by browser, they do not belong to flex app or component.I can do this by javascript but is there a way to do this with action script?
I have 2 questions about flex datagrids: How can I scroll it automatically to the bottom when new portion of data arrived to it (e.g. I added new items). Strange, but seems it doesn't scroll when I use scrolling wheel, is there any trick about it (especially for mac Users).
public function scroll():void { trace(chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition); chatboard.verticalScrollPosition = chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition; } <mx:TextArea id="chatboard" x="10" y="10" width="310" height="181" text="{chatMessages}" editable="false" verticalScrollPolicy="on" resize="scroll()"/>
But actually it don't work. The text area is not autoscrolled. Seems that 1) scroll is not called after new string is added to chatMessages.
I have a TextArea that shows the conversation from selected chat room. For valueCommit event I use: verticalScrollPosition = maxVerticalScrollPosition; And it works fine scrolling text to the bottom. However in one case it doesn't work as expected. There's verylittle text, so TextArea has no scrollbar and then I put a lot of text and a scrollbar is necessary. The text is scrolled almost to the bottom (still a few lines need to be scrolled down). I am pretty sure it gets maxVerticalScrollPosition as if there was no scrollbar. So the question is how can I wait with updating verticalScrollPosition with respect to TextArea's new size (that is now with a scrollbar). I tried calling validateSize and other methods that start with 'validate' but unfortunately with no luck. I also tried the old trick of putting caret at the end of text. So the TextArea's scrollbar makes a difference when getting maxVerticalScrollPosition and I need to update verticalScrollPosition once all measurements are done. I forgot to mention. I use htmlText.
I have a TextArea that I don't ever want to be scrolled. When scrolling within the application that holds this TextArea, however, the scrolling stops as soon as the mouse ends up over the TextArea.
Is there any way to pass the scroll event to the application, or tell the TextArea to not claim the event?
I would like to disable copy event in the TextArea I'm using. To achieve so I added the following code block:
function initTA(){ var tf:IUITextField = body.mx_internal::getTextField(); tf.enabled = false; } <mx:TextArea id="body" creationComplete="initTA()" .../>
This is working fine unless the text area has lots of text inside in which case a scroll bar appears. After the scroll bar is being used by the user, the text area stopped blocking the copy event.
By the way, I am using text area for display purposes since I use rich text area format.
I have a VBox containing a bunch of panels. I have implemented dragging and dropping but I need to be able to scroll automatically when the item is drug near the edge. I am having mixed results. I can get it to work, but not well. My example is below. It works if the user bounces their mouse around a little near the top or bottom edge, but I want it to work if they just hold the mouse there.[code]So if they are within 50px of an edge then it should scroll by 50px. I've exaggerated the numbers just to get an affect.
I have a Spark List (spark.components.List) backed by an ArrayCollection for its dataProvider. The List has a vertical scrollbar when there's too many rows to display. What I want is when a new row is added to the List for it to scroll to the bottom to show that new row.
I've tried calling List's ensureIndexIsVisible from a listener on the ArrayCollection. This doesn't work because the List hasn't yet fully rendered the new row. It will either scroll to the second from the last row, or throw the exception:
I want to accomplish the same thing with code that Flash's Align - Align Bottom Edge button does within the IDE. I have a series of move clips of different heights which are all added to the stage dynamically via XML. When they are all added, I want to then align them - does flash provide a method for doing this with code? Or is the only way to do it to detect their heights and adjust them by the height difference?
when text is added via radiobuttons it displays.as soon as i get over 7 lines a scroll bar appears -as more lines of text are added (via radio button click) the scroll bar moves down - HOWEVER------The scroll bar is not completely at the bottom - its one line up, so you have to scroll to see the last line....I have tried everything.maxVerticalScrollPosition, verticalscrollposition etc..
I am wrapping a VGroup in a Scroller (by setting the scroller.viewport = vgroup), but I want to only be able to scroll vertically. In flex, a scroller component can set the "horizontalscrollpolicy" to "off", but programmatically in Actionscript 3, it does not seem to expose this attribute. How can I do this in Actionscript 3?
i am a newbie flash designer. a client has asked me to make modifications in a flash file used on his website. it is flash 8 actionscriptfile which i decompiled using sothink decompiler 4.5 build 90120 to '~divisions original.fla'. the xml folder resides in the same folder as ~divisions original.fla. it contains divisions.xml.i discovered a problem - if you view 'divisions.swf' - when you click on 'retail visual solutions'and scroll to the bottom, you can see that there is no space after the text. the end of the text aligns with the end of the scrollbar. but when you click on eyesite, and scroll to the bottom, you can see that there is space after the text. the end of the text does not align with the end of the scrollbar.
my additional questions are:has the creator of the swf file used some unique scrollbar code or is this scrollbar provided in flash itself. in this case, i can read a tutorial to understand it better.i have given 'is correct - no space at bottom of text.jpg' and 'is incorrect - space at bottom of text.jpg' to further explain my query.
I've got a dynamic vertical scrolling gallery which works fine except for one small thing. There is lots of space underneath the last item in the gallery which shouldn't be there... [URL] I can't for the life of me figure out why the extra space is there at the bottom...
Ive used the excellent tutorial to create a scrolling thumb panel ([URL]) It works brilliantly and I have movie thumbs linking to a flash player. It all works fine, what change the scrolling. At current it scrolls up and down according to where I have set the 'line', I would like it to scroll up and down near the top and the bottom, rather than all the time (effectively creating a dead zone in the middle). I cant figure out how to change the code to get this to behave as required.
In the code below, image01.gif is 'higher' than the textArea readingPane(ie image01.height > readingPane.height). My problem is that I cannot srcoll the image. Is it possible? If so,how?
import fl.controls.TextArea; var readingPane:TextArea; var htmlString:String = <img src='http://localhost/strategist/images/image0.gif' hspace =
I want to make a dynamic textarea with loaded text from an external textfile, and then I want custom made arrow buttons to start scrolling the loaded text on mouseover (not click) andt stop scrolling on mouseout. Ala like in this webpage[url]...
The part with the loaded text is fine, but I can't manage to script the arrow buttons to do what I've just described. Even though I have searched the Internet for recipes I just find how to scroll loaded text on click or with a scrollbar
I'm using a dateField component (with editable = true) as an itemEditor in a dataGrid. Interestingly, when editing the textInput part of the dateField it doesn't seem to react to an ESC keydown as I would expect, i.e. reload old dateField value and give up focus. This seems to be standard for most other components, but not for as most other components do.
How would you go about implementing such behavior? I can listen to keydown == escape on the TextInput portion, but just realized that I don't know how to tell dateField to give up focus and politely close - in fact I'm not even sure that's the right strategy (maybe I should work at the DataGrid level?
I need to load several images as Bitmap or BitmapData objects. The images are hosted outside the Flex project, and they're referenced by an external configuration file, so I can't embed them. Because the images won't be displayed directly to the user (they're being added to a PDF that is generated for download), creating a grouping of Image objects, attaching them to the application, and waiting for their LoadComplete handler to fire seems inefficient.
What is the best way to load these images into an application? Programatically load images in it?
I have I datagrid, on which I want to select multiple rows on a other user interaction than the one intended by the Programm. I'm wondering, whether I can programmatically select some rows depending only on code?
how can I assign the stroke to my LineSeries, programmatically in Actionscript ?<mx:LineSeries stroke="{new Stroke(0xCC33CC, 2)}"/>How is it in Actionscript? LineSeries.stroke doesn't exist
I'm trying to figure out how to in as3 (not mxml) add views to a view stack.For example I have a view component like so[code]I've being trying to add it to a viewstack in the following way.[code]I'm aware I have to assign ID's but for now I just want to get the view in there
I would like to know the correct way to close an AIR application programmatically. In my Spark WindowedApplication I have:this.addEventListener( Event.CLOSING, shutdownApp );and of course an implementation of the shutdownApp method (which basically tidies up temporary files).his works fine for the top-right close button of the window. However I also have functionality which needs to shutdown the application. Within the code I have called:NativeApplication.nativeApplication.exit();However this doesn't trigger the Event.CLOSING method, and so my temporary files are not cleared up. Should I not be calling nativeApplication.exit ? If so, what should I call instead? I'd rather not have to call my shutdownApp method before the NativeApplication.exit() as this doesn't feel quite so elegant.
I have various components that are skinned through a programmatic skin. The skin class references a singleton class that holds various colors to be applied to different aspects of the component. The singleton class has default colors set to variations of black/grey etc. I'm loading in custom colors from an XML file that are then loaded into the singleton. I'm applying the custom skin through a css stylesheet that is included in the main Application mxml.
The problem is that when the swf initially loads, the components that are drawn on screen are black and don't reflect the changes in color loaded from the XML file. I have some dropdown windows that show on button clicks and those dropdowns do reflect the correct colors from the XML file. Therefore, the system is working correctly, but the initial drawing of components obviously happens before the XML is loaded and applied to the singleton.
My question is, is there a way to apply a skin to an element programmatically by calling the constructor?
or something to that effect? This way, I can remove the loading of the skins in the css file and control when they are instantiated to ensure that the correct colors are applied before displaying the various components.
