add a click event handler to the vertical axis (or any axis) of a barchart in flex? If I add the handler to the BarChart itself, it looks as though the event doesn't fire unless you click on the actual chart, not the axes.

My X-Axis shows multiple values of In-Progress, but I just need one. Is it possible to represent such relationship using BarChart. Any other Flex chart is Advisable.

I would for the labels on the vertical axis to be clickable. So when a user clicks a label a click event fires and I can do something with it. I am not interested in clicking the bar itself (I know how to achieve that)
I tried adding an event listener to the CategoryAxis of type Mouse.Click but nothing gets fired.
In flex, I am getting the y-coordinate in the following way:

nextYAxis gives me the y-axis and I use it to position new component. It works absolutely fine. But, when there is vertical scroll, and I scroll it a little bit, and then the above mentioned code places the component at wrong place. I believe, it has something to do with the scroll.
I need to create a custom y-axis in a columnChart that resembles a tall / skinny VBox (sorry can't post pictures) and has the axis labels (20, 40, 60, 80, 100) inside the axis.By default, the y-axis is a line and I have found methods of making the line thicker but I need the labels inside the axis.I have tried using the AxisRenderer class but can not find any good examples on the proper use.
View 1 RepliesI have a neat chart that is rendering overlaid columns with values in excess of 6000 but my vertical axis stays at 0-100, as if my dataProvider was being ignored.
The problem here is with "msAxis" autoAdjust didn't change anything. Do I need to force its values manually?

Is there an event that is dispatched when a text input gets clicked (i.e. to add text), but not after text has been added, simply when it is clicked? It won't have changed, and text won't have been entered.

I have a couple of Sprites on my screen and I want to write a single event handler to handle the double click on any of those Sprites. The following approach works for every event type except DOUBLE_CLICK:

To make it work, because in my application I will have lots of Sprites. In my opinion, a single event and the target property are more efficient than hundreds of event listeners. Am I right or should add event listeners to every Sprite?

I'm trying to put a label and an image on a UIComponent, side-by-side. I want to use UIComponent for efficiency reasons, and the entire component is more complicated than just a button with an icon.
I'm trying to get a click handler on ther entire UIComponent so that when a click happens on either the label or the image, the same [click] event handler is called. If I add a click handler on the root component, it works, but when I introduce space between the label and the image, the space between them becomes un-clickable. I produce the space by using the move(x,y) method for the label and the image with a small gap between the x/y coordinates.
I need to have interactive axis where user can click on it and I can return the clicked data points.

I have some images I would like to display in TileList in Flex. My TileList dimensions are 2 columns by n rows. What I want to do is to display the first item (row 1, column 1) empty and not clickable, and to start displaying my items from row 1, column 2.I also wonder when I create click event for the same TileList, is there a way get an index of clicked element?

The main intention of the code is to handle F5(refresh) event. It works fine in Mozilla, GoogleChrome but not in IE8. When i execute the code in IE8 before the event handle by the FLEX the browser is handling the event.

1.How do I add easing? Can I use fuse?
2.If the button that is being dragged reaches a point on the y axis it would trigger a function. If it is let go before reaching that point the button would snap back to the original position. I guess a simple (if statement) would work - but not working for me
3.Last thing. It is a vertical menu, so when a button is being dragged everything above it would drag with it. Cannot seem to get that to happen

Create a tab navigator (or viewstack, whatever) and add a couple tabs. On your tab add a show event handler. Inside the event handler call invalidateProperties() and invalidateDisplayList() on one of the children of your tab. Put a break point on the childs commitProperties() and updateDisplayList(). You'll notice that the updateDisplayList() gets called before commitProperties() which results in incorrect behaviour.
I noticed this problem when setting a DataGrid's dataprovider from inside the show handler. Setting the dataProvider causes the grid to invalidate both properties and displayList, updateDisplayList() will get called first, then commitProperties() which will result in the grid not updating the rows. It appears the root of the problem is that the show event gets dispatched from within LayoutManagers validateDisplayList() loop, so invalidating a child object from within the show handler results in its updateDisplayList() getting called immediately.

I am querying a 3rd party web service and not all the data seems to be making it to the event handler. When I view the request/response in the Network Monitor I see a collection of data objects each containing two string variables (name, url) and two arrays (counts, breakdown). When the result handler receives the data and I view it in debug mode, the collection of data objects each only contains one string variable (name). What happened to the other string var (url) and both arrays (counts, breakdown)? what would cause this since it seems to becoming corrupt before it reaches the event handler but after it is received by the network? Is this most likely an IDE issue?
View 1 RepliesI need to call FileReference.save() after a web service call has completed, but this method has a restriction: "In Flash Player, you can only call this method successfully in response to a user event (for example, in an event handler for a mouse click or keypress event). Otherwise, calling this method results in Flash Player throwing an Error exception." (from the documentation here)
This restriction is a bit vague. Does it mean that I can only call the FileReference.save() method from within an event handler function that is registered as a listener for certain types of user events? If so then exactly which user events are valid? (Perhaps there's an event that will never be dispatched by user interaction with my application and I could register an event handler function for that event type and make the save() call from within that function?)
My difficulty is that I can't safely call the FileReference.save() method until my web service returns with the data that will be used as the argument of the FileReference.save() method call, so the event that triggers the FileReference.save() call is actually a ResultEvent rather than a user event, and I'm leery of dispatching a new (faux) user event type in order to be able to trigger the FileReference.save() call unless it's definitely a user event that would never be dispatched as a result of actual user interaction with my application.
In a nutshell what I'm doing now is this: I have a function that is registered as a handler for a button click. In this function I make my web service call to fetch data from the server. I also have a result handler function which gets invoked when the web service call completes, and it's in here that I want to call the FileReference.save() method since it's at this point that I know that the data is ready to be saved to a file. But the aforementioned restriction is blocking me from doing this -- I get an error:
Error #2176: Certain actions, such as those that display a pop-up window, may only be invoked upon user interaction, for example by a mouse click or button press.
I've tried many things to get around this such as creating a second mouse click event handler function with the FileReference.save() call within and calling it after a timeout interval (to give the web service time to complete), but I keep running into the same error -- maybe that approach doesn't work since the second function isn't registered as an event listener for the event type used as its argument.

View 2 RepliesI have a Tree, which has an itemRenderer. On the itemRenderer, driven by the XML conditions, objects are created dynamically and added as a children to nodes. These new objects shall trigger an event handler ( some click events mostly ). How do I pass the event handler to the tree and later to the dynamically created new objects inside itemRendere?

I have a button labeled 'blueButton' and I'd like to use an anonymous function to handle the click, like so:

Problem is, the click handler is called multiple times per click. The number of times called seems to be random (sometimes 2, sometimes 4, sometimes 3 etc). could I be missing something in my code, or maybe I set up the button wrong?
also I noticed that it seems to always get called once on the first click. After the first click is when it starts getting called additional times, maybe that has something to do with it?

However, the text in the category axis can be too long to display on the chart, so flex adjusts the font size automatically to the point that the data is either unreadable, or the text is partially visible.The length of the text varies every time new data comes in, so I can't set the gutterLeft attribute to a static value at runtime.Two things that come to my mind are:Change the gutter dynamically according to new data/Have a scroll bar on the categoryaxis so that if any text won't fit in the space, the user can scroll to see it.[code]
