Flex :: Create A Single Class For Handling Fault Handler Event For All The Services?
Mar 29, 2011
According to Cairngorm architecture, we always have a fault handler in every command class for each service.How we can create a single Class for handling Fault handler event for all the services.
I have created a simple mxml file with code as follows: <s:application..........> <s:BorderContainer> <s:SkinnableContainer id="firstRow"/> <s:SkinnableContainer id="secondRow"/> <s:SkinnableContainer id="thirdRow"/> </s:BorderContainer> </s:application>
Now I want to apply different font size, font color and font type and background color on each row i.e each of the three skinnableContainers.Currently I have defined 3 different skin classes for each of row but I think this is a bad programing. I should create a single skin class for outermost container i.e BorderContainer and any how provide different fonts and background color to all the 3 child containers through that skin class. So, is it possible that I can create single skin class that can provide different decorations to each of the child container.
I created a screen(calculator) with bunch of buttons,i can handle button event with one handler.But i want to know that can we do a one handler for all buttons......likein java we can perform the task of perticular button by like this
I have a couple of Sprites on my screen and I want to write a single event handler to handle the double click on any of those Sprites. The following approach works for every event type except DOUBLE_CLICK:
[Code]...
To make it work, because in my application I will have lots of Sprites. In my opinion, a single event and the target property are more efficient than hundreds of event listeners. Am I right or should add event listeners to every Sprite?
I have a maven project that produces many artifacts. Of course it is kind of against maven best practice (one pom one artifact), but it is Adobe Flex project that produces many *swf modules and it is really makes no sence to create a separate project for each module.
For me it would be very convinient to handle all swf modules as a single zip archive eg. zip archive would be my artifact.
So I am looking for the way to pack and unpack my zip artifact with maven.
I'm building a flash piecve for aour FAQ section. I have an button instance controlling what show when a user mouses over a certain area. On click it displays the info box. What i need is a way when the user clicks, and then releases that the inlformation box stays, at least until another option is clicked.
I am stepping back up to AS3 after realizing that it would be easier if I learned AS2 prior to trying to understand AS3 (all documentation, online and in books, reference AS2..."in AS2 this was done this way.I am writing my first external class and trying to associate it with an object created in the Flash via the Library Linkage.I have a movieClip on the stage and have it associated with the following class that doesn't show any transition when tested.[code]
In one of our project we are using flex for front end, blazeds/java in the backend. Its an existing code where services are prewritten. I have to make calls to 3 services in the backend (basically 3 remote objects) and get their result and store the result in an object and show the data of this object in a view. Now in front end we are using Flex and Parsley Framework. I was thinking of the following approaches.
1) Making commands for each service call and storing the result in a shared object (model) and then displaying this model in the view. In this approach the problem is some services are needed in some other web pages, but they donot need the same model. How should i handle this scenario ? Should i make a asynchronous remote call and fetch the result and then again dispatch and event with the event object storing the result.
2) Making a service call , wait for the result then make another call and wait for the result and then make other call, not sure if this is the right way ?
Ok, so here's the problem. What happens in the above, is that I call 'loadTheXML()', it loads the xml file into xmlLoader and then runs the event handler 'onLoad'. My problem is here: once I get into the event handler 'this' refers to xmlLoader, not the class. Therefore, I have no way of calling wannaCallThis(). How do I call a member function of the class from inside the eventHandler?
I have a problem that seems easy enough to solve but I'm trying to do it with reusable code, which involves doing something I don't understand yet. I've googled this endlessly and read dozens of articles and I'm still just as lost as when I started. I'm hoping a live human being can help me make sense of it.
I have a movie clip on stage. When this movie clip is pressed, I want it to play a certain frame of another movie clip for as long as it's being touched. (It's a map of the US, that will display each state name as it is pressed.) I COULD write 50 different functions, each to call a different frame of the displayName movie, or I could write my own custom event that would be able to receive from each touch event a string variable to then tell displayName which frame to play. So basically, I have, for example:
I'd like to arrange things so that I have a chain of keyboard event handlers in my flex application, all of whom are queried when key down events occur. Basically, when a visual component is on screen, it is a candidate for handling a key press event. Something like this (clearly this is pseudocode):
I have a class written that will respond to the key events the way I want it to, so how do I register one or more instances of this class to have the results I want? Also, note that there are some situations where this class should receive events that would ordinarily be handled by a UI component. The TAB key is the main example; I have a few cases where I want my key down event handler to fire even when the focus is on a text field.
I'm trying out the FlasBuilder ide with ColdFusion 8 on OS X. When I try to create a new project, I get stuck at the server setup screen that forces you to validate your paths for your ColdFusion root folder and your webroot. Every combination I try says either "LiveCycle Data Services is not installed at the specified location" or "Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml." The flex-config.xml file is sitting in that directory. Is there some trick to getting this to work?
I'm using hotkeys (ctrl + key) in my flex application. getting problem when my app is running in IE.when i press ctrl+D, im getting 'Add a Favorite' window of iE.How should i override the default behaviour of the browser.
I am developing an AIR app. In the main app I have a module loader 'mainModuleLoader'. I am creating modules as separate mxml files using the <mx:Module> tag. And I am loading such a module in mainModuleLoader dynamically using actionscript. Everything works fine.For the module which I am creating as mxml files, I would like to know how to add an unload event handler. So that, whenever I call mainModuleLoader.unload(), the unload event hander is triggered from inside the module.mxml. I have tried the following without any success.
The problem with the second statement above is that it triggers the unloadHandler even if some child is removed inside the module. I have also tried to add the following in the action script.
private function init() { this.addEventListener(ModuleEvent.UNLOAD, unloadHandler);
Can I create a single event listener for all mouse events ?
my understanding is no because: what's happening is that each listener is checking for a string in an event and comparing it for a match against a list which is the listener.

I am trying to listen to an event created in a spark popup tileWindow. The aim is to get an array sent and updated in the popUp, to be received by the calling application, when the popUp is closed. As commented inline below, I have tested that it reaches the point of dispatching event in the popUp- and never gets listened in main application. What am i missing?My customEvent is as follows:
Can I handle an event inside a loaded swf file(using swf loader) using MATE when my main application fires the event ? i want to make a remote service call based on the data i get from the main applications event , and then populate my loaded swf .
I want to extend my function to a better design to where I can pass a canvas object into so I don't have to write N functions.. I'm not sure as how to do this properly I've come up with a naive design with a switch but even then if I add another canvas I still need to write new code for the new canvas.
function fadeCanvasOut(event:TimerEvent):void { canvas1.alpha -= 0.1;
I'm loading some images from a database using a PHP script through CodeIgniter, but when I try to add an event handler to do some stuff with these images, Flex compiler is showing me an error:1180: Call to a possibly undefined method cloneCar.Why I can not add an event handler in this context?
I have been trying to understand the way ActionScript's events are implemented, but I'm stuck.I know that AS is single threaded, which means that only one event handler will be executing at a time, and also means that handlers will be executed in a deterministic order*.For example, consider the following code:
1: var x = {executed: false}; 2: foo.addEventListener("execute", function(){ x.executed = true; }); 3: foo.dispatchEvent(new Event("execute"));
I have an issue in handling the F5(Refresh) option in IE8 using FLEX. As i got some code by surfing..which is as follows
public function handleKeyDown(event:KeyboardEvent) :void { display.text = "Key was pressed: " + event.keyCode; } ]]>
The main intention of the code is to handle F5(refresh) event. It works fine in Mozilla, GoogleChrome but not in IE8. When i execute the code in IE8 before the event handle by the FLEX the browser is handling the event.
I have written a framework that facilitates RPC calls between AS3 and PHP 5 called FlashMOG. I recently got a forum request that has introduced a pretty bizarre question regarding access control. This will be a lot easier to discuss if you have access to the FlashMOG 0.3.1 client source which is here:
[code]...
The basic idea is that I have a FlashMOGService class which has an RPCSocket member that it may share with other FlashMOGService objects. The idea is that you can create two distinct FlashMOGService objects and have them both connect to the same host/port via socket. I use my special RPCSocket class for two reasons:
1) Let developers use one port but separate functionality into two distinct services...a form of multiplexing i guess
2) RPCSocket adds functionality to the standard Socket class that works to serialize and unserialize data and get it where it needs to go. The essence of the problem here is that created a class with a FlashMOGService object as a member and has tried to assign a private method of his class as an event handler to the FlashMOGService object:
[Code]....
My initial thought is that this should be fine because it's all done within the class. However, when I consider the monkey chain that results in this function being called, it seems almost logical that it wouldn't work. The problem is that the browser freezes when a socket message arrives that tries to call the service's client method, _service.client.firstClientMethod. This client firstClientMethod is attempted when data arrives from the server on the Socket (an RPCSocket, actually). The RPCSocket class deserializes the socket data and extracts an array with a service name, a method name, and an array of arguments. It looks into its own private class variable (an array of services using the RPCSocket) and tries to invoke whatever function was assigned thusly:
[Code]....
I'm guessing there's some kind of infinite loop going on to check access control for the various intertwined classes.
How do I create multiple units of a single class, but still be able to target it individually?
For example, I want to create 5 instances of Apple(), but I want to move the 3rd instance of Apple to a specific location. How can I target the 3rd one?
I've noticed BlazeDS has certain things it does not support and it is often difficult to find this out. Ex: polymorphism is not.One must create methods with different names as methods with the same name with different parameters create a conflict.I'm trying to find out if BlazeDS does not support Java static and non-static inner classes.
public class UserDTO { private String name; private AddressDTO adddress; private PhoneDTO phone;
[code]...
The example code above will compile and the getUser method will work. A call to the updateUser or updatePhone methods on the other hand results in a BlazeDS error. Is there a special way to use inner classes in Flex or are inner classes not supported?
Here is an example of the error messages produced:
[BlazeDS]Cannot create class of type 'com.test.dto.UserDTO.PhoneDTO'. flex.messaging.MessageException: Cannot create class of type 'com.test.dto.UserDTO.PhoneDTO'. Type 'com.test.dto.UserDTO.PhoneDTO' not found.
Example Flex code:
var thisPhone:PhoneDTO = new PhoneDTO(); thisPhone.phoneNumber = "8885551212"; updateTagsResult.token = userService.updatePhone(thisPhone);
